TODAY'S FEATURE - Blog #3190:

Now it's only 7 days away until the 2010 Comic-Con International: San Diego, (a.k.a. SDCC), opens its' doors for Preview Night!

The past two blogs here have been posts about our check off list for the upcoming con.  I wasn't ready to post a third blog yet, as neither Tina nor myself have all of our choices made yet for programs / panels to see at the upcoming con to share with you here.

So imagine my surprise last night when the topic for today's blog came to me while watching episode 2 of Season 2 of Warehouse 13 last night on the SyFy Channel!

You see...The episode was title 'Mild Mannered'.  And Yes, it was loaded with comic book references!

Here's just what the start of the episode was about with A MINOR POILER WARNING AS IT TELLS OF THE FIRST COUPLE OF SCENES:

"After months of hopeful expectation at the post office, Myka's personal effects are finally delivered - but Pete's are still missing. Myka doesn't have long to enjoy her homey treasures before Artie sends her and Pete off to Detroit to investigate a vigilante who can bend steel and hurl people through walls. A local officer takes them to Loretta's Coffee Shop, to see if they can glean some information from the neighborhood watch, but they are soon pulled away by another crime, where they discover something truly bizarre: A crime-fighting superhero, whom Pete identifies as the Iron Shadow".

So yeah...it's about a Super-Hero!  And No, I'm NOT going to ruin this episode for you telling you what it's all about.

However, when I realized while several minutes into this episode that there were so many references to comic books, and that this would be a 'natural' topic to blog about today...I ran for a pad and pencil to write down just some of the phrases and references to comic books.

When YOU watch the episode, see what you can find!  Here's mine:

Lex Luthor

Lois Lane

Jacob Kurtzberg / Jack Kirby

Collectible store a.k.a. LCBS

"Have No Fear..." said by Claudia Donovan

"Biff! Bam! Pow!"

"Good one chum. Off to the Batmobile"

If it was Iron Shadow vs. the Hulk, who would win..."

"Fortress of Solitude"

"My Hero"

"With great power comes great responsibility"

"Kick-Ass"

Okay...That's about what I remember and wrote down after getting the pad and pencil.

The reason I bring this episode up, is because it is the first one that I can recall that was comic book connected for this TV series.

Which is ironic, because it was at the 2009 San Diego Comic Con International that Tina and myself were first 'exposed' to the show!

We watched the premiere episode at the con, and immediately started following it on the SyFy Channel.  This show is actually pretty darn good. We no longer blog per se on TV Shows in this blog for the most part, ever since the TV Strike and the closing of the eBay format of this blog, which made the blog more 'pop culture' oriented.

However, last night's episode was definitely comic book connected, and since we first found out about it at the Comic-Con, it was a perfect tie-in today.

Both Tina & I suggest that if YOU haven't seen this series yet, buy or rent the DVD Season One to catch up, and then start catching the 2nd Season. It's only on episode 2 so far this season.

Plus, if YOU are attending the SDCC, check out the panels there for upcoming new shows.  We've caught several there that were making their 'world premiere', (i.e. LOST, Heroes, Invasion, Knight Rider, etc.), or were being shown to con goers to get more exposure, (i.e. EUReKA, etc.).

And yes, I know I said at the top of this blog that Tina and I haven't finished figuring out what we are attending, but since it is my birthday on Saturday July 24th, I believe we just might be taking in the below program at the Comic-Con. Especially since Tina and I just love EUReKA!

"Saturday, July 24
3:30-5:00 Warehouse 13 and Eureka— Don't miss two of Syfy's biggest hit series in one exclusive event. Catch back-to-back Warehouse 13 and Eureka panels, featuring Warehouse 13's Eddie McClintock (Pete Lattimer), Joanne Kelly (Myka Bering), Saul Rubinek (Artie Nielsen), Allison Scagliotti (Claudia Donovan), and Jack Kenny (showrunner/executive producer) and Eureka's Colin Ferguson (Jack Carter), Salli Richardson-Whitfield (Allison Blake), Neil Grayston (Douglas Fargo), James Callis (Grant), Jaime Paglia (co-creator/executive producer/writer), and Bruce Miller (executive producer/writer). Room 6BCF"

If YOU see us there, say hello!  I'll be wearing one of my signature indigo colored polo shirts with 'Comic Book Collectors Blog.com in white letters.  For that matter, stop me at any time to say hello if YOU are attending this Con, and let me know YOU are a reader of this blog!

Speaking of which...My thanks again to all of YOU reading this blog and our archived blog posts, now over the 3,185 total posts in number!
