Not A Good Superhero Movie To Watch
Mood:  down
Topic: Comic Book Movies

Stan Lee's Lightspeed

was released earlier this year from the Studio of Anchor Bay.  (January 9, 2007)

The movie's Run Time is 88 minutes.

The Storyline is as follows: After an accident, a government agent gains the ability of super-speed and goes after an old friend turned nemesis. Sounds like a comic book TV movie... right?

We love Stan Lee but sorry to say.... This movie is really Bad!

The DVD cover should have warned us as plastered on it is the following:

"From STAN LEE, the Creator of X-MEN & SPIDER-MAN"   and  the Title of the Movie is:  Stan Lee's LIGHTSPEED

Thus unfortunately this movie is relying on Stan's many fans he has accumulated throughout the years to watch this movie because it has Stan's name on it.

What makes a superhero a true SUPERHERO is a good villain. Sad to say the villain in this movie, Phyton, is a man who has transformed into a
snake-man, and has a BAD resembelance to Doctor Doom and Darth Vader.

I just couldn't over the bad looking and terrible sounding villain.

Add to that, the superhero shops at a sports store to obtain his outfit! The sales clerk gives a little of this and that and those to create an ensemble of a costume!

The superpower looks good, (super speed), and Lightspeed can use his power against everyone except for the villain whom he cannot defeat.  Why Not I ask?? I don't see that explained anywhere in the movie. Lightspeed just seems to run out of steam everytime he confronts Python!

Jason Connery as Lightspeed is not believable.

Nicole Eggert you might have some sympathy for if she wasn't supposed to be such a good soldier on the 'Ghost Squad' but then is so helpless against Python.

Daniel Goddard is pitiful as the villain, terrible portrayal.

Lee Majors has really fallen to play such a bad role in this movie.

I wanted to like this movie, blogged about it coming out last January and April. But when I found this DVD for rental, I am so glad I didn't spend the money to buy it. I only watched it all the way through to create a review and a blog post about this DVD.

Not Recommended!  Even for the most fanatic of Stan Lee fans, sorry !!

We are big fans of Stan's from the Marvel Comics that he wrote, and the upcoming TV show 'Who Wants To Be a Super-hero?' the second season.

Only 16 More Days Before the Simpsons Movie HITS The Big Screen!

With a Release Date of July 27th this movie should be all alone after the Big Blockbusters have already been released!

(You know, Spider-Man 3, Shrek 3, Pirates 3, Fantastic Four 2, Transformers....)

So should YOU be excited about the Simpsons Movie?

We've only been waiting for a big-screen version of 'The Simpsons' for six years or so... and the producers  have kept  saying 'Seventeen Years In the Making' in their promos!

The revealing teaser trailer with full frontal nudity of Bart had America talking about three weeks ago!

Must have been a slow news week for that much publicity on Bart skateboarding naked on a dare from Homer ???

The movie will be released while we are at the SDCC, (San Diego Comic Con International), so we'll have to check it out afterwards as the Con runs for four days and nights!

BUT If you aren't going to the Con, then check out the MOVIE and let us know how it was for YOU!

For those interested in 'funnybooks' like the Simpsons comics we have several of those comic books in our eBay Featured Comic Book Store  !

Thanks for reading this pop culture / comics blog post! Feel Free to Comment Below !!

Found Out Why There Were So Many Looks...
Mood:  a-ok

... At Our Previous Post of:

Alvin and the Chipmunks Movie

Being Released on December 14, 2007 !

Yesterday I took some personal time off to go to Los Angeles.  Left so early I couldn't post any blog posts before I left!  When I got back the All-Star Baseball Game was on so watched that for a change instead of working on the computer...

This morning I signed on and saw by our blog stats that an April 2007 'Alvin Movie' blog post was the most viewed blog post yesterday!  You would think the most popular post would either be the current 'Transformers  Movie' posts or the upcoming'Simpsons Movie' blog posts!!

Was I missing something about a new development on the 'Alvin & The Chipmunks Movie' ???

Well, I just got back from shipping and banking, and found out why Alvin is suddenly in the news!  The Transformers Movie this week is showing the NEW TEASER TRAILER for the NEW Alvin Movie that is coming our way!!!

Below is my previous post on the upcoming Alvin movie:

-----------------------

Back in December 2004  Fox 2000 Pictures, Twentieth Century Fox Animation and Bagdasarian Productions announced it would produce a live-action / computer-generated event motion picture on Alvin and the Chipmunks!  The long awaited movie will be released this upcoming Holiday Season !

The Chipmunk trio and Dave Seville made recording, broadcasting and merchandising history by selling 43 million albums, starring in their own animated primetime series, plus numerous primetime specials, and the number one network Saturday Morning shows seen in over 100 countries in 40 languages during the course of their existence.

Over at the Hollywood Stock Exchange, the Place Where Hollywood Meets Wall Street, the Entertainment Prediction Market has seen mostly up days in 'trading' this stock. There is definite interest in this upcoming Holiday Season Movie.

I enjoyed Alvin and the Chipmunks as a kid, and of course had one of their Christmas albums that would drive anyone nuts playing it too long!  Those squeaky voices can get to you after a while....

For those interested in Funnybooks and humor genre of cartoon comic books, we have several for sale in our eBay Featured Store.

---------------------------------

Anyway, thanks for reading this morning's pop culture / comic book blog post and if YOU know of any new development on Alvin, please let us know by commenting below!!!
