Grand Finale: Episode 8 Of Stan Lee's Season 2 Of....
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: TV Shows

Who Wants To Be A Superhero?

Season Two

Episode 8: Grand Finale

09-07-07 - 2nd Hour TV Show!

This is 'Our Take' on the Eighth and Final installment of this SCI-FI Channel Mini-Series seen on Thursday nights at 9 p.m.!

For those new to our blog, we have been watching this show since the first season and are looking forward to Grand Finale!!

This blog post will just have a few notes of our thoughts on this season's last episode.

SPOILER WARNING: If you have not yet seen this episode, and don't want to know the results... THEN DON'T READ below this line!

Still Only 3 Contestants Remain... see the previous 'Our Take' link for what happened to the right!

They are the Three Finalists....So Who Will Be Stan Lee's NEXT Superhero?

The Three Contestants STILL remaining are: Hyper-Strike, the Defuser, and Hygena!

Start of the episode - Tina favors Hyper Strike... I'm torn between the Defuser and Hyper Strike.

The call 'True Believers' is broadcast throughout the world via satellite....

A short bio on each of the finalists is shown...

Afterwards someone looking somewhat ominous approaches the Finalists in the Lair.... It's 'Balls Mahoney' of the ECW with a warning that the next day will be a mission at the Superhero Stunt Academy!

The finalists go thru their paces for their action mini-movies.... and then..... and then... Dr Dark strikes! Tina voices aloud that Hyper Strike stays more in character, possibly to sway me (?), and then Dr Stark is finally defeated personally for the season!

Stan inteviews each finalist, this time as the person behind the superhero so Stan can know the person better.

Tina now thinks the Defuser's background story is the best one, but Hyper Strike fist the show's demographics better she says!

Fade out to Universal Studios where Stan is to announce his next Superhero Legend in the making!

This season the winner is to star in a comic book, also have their own action figure in production, be in a Sci-Fi Channel Saturday Night Movie, and win a Big Screen TV!  Not bad at all for a true comic book geek!

The mini-movies that were filmed at the Superhero Stunt Academy are now shown to all... The Defuser's movie is up first.  I am definitely feeling more kinship to him because he is the oldest of the three...

Hyper Strike is next, and his movie has better pacing according to Tina.

Hygena's movie is so silly says Tina. Her powers make her movie seem like a super-hero parody she says.

Now for the Decision: Who's it going to be???

The Decision: The Defuser!  WHOA I Said!

Tina finds him boring she says... Tina talks smack about the Defuser... oh well... so often we want the same contestant, or team or whatever, but NOT this time!

The rest of the season's contestants come out along with Season One's winner Feedback!

And then Stan Lee beams in 'in person', no more Big Screen for him!

In the midst of all the congratulating there is a large spotlight that appears over the city, Stan says to The Defuser... 'That is YOUR First Mission!'

'To Be Continued'! Just like in the comics!

Farewell till next Season!  Are YOU going to try out for Season 3???  Check out the applicants for Season 2 on the Sci-Fi Channel's web site.... you definitely have a chance after seeing some of those 'sooper' heroes!

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post and check back with us for some after show thoughts on Season 2 in the near future!

Episode 7 Of Stan Lee's Who Wants To Be A Superhero?
Mood:  a-ok

Episode 7:

Who Wants To Be A Superhero?

Season Two

09-07-07 TV Show!

This is 'Our Take' on the Seventh installment of this SCI-FI Channel Mini-Series seen on Thursday nights at 9 p.m.!

We have been watching this show since the first season and are looking forward to the 'crowning' of the Season 2's Next Superhero in Episode 8!!

This blog post will just have a few notes of our thoughts on the current episode.

SPOILER WARNING: If you have not yet seen this episode, and don't want to know the results... THEN DON'T READ below this line!

Only 3 Contestants Remain!

Of The Final Three, Who Will Be Stan Lee's NEXT Superhero?

The Three Contestants remaining are: Hyper-Strike, the Defuser, and Hygena!

Start of the episode - The Final Three come down from the roof.... They ALL feel they need to 'step it up'!

On the TV, Action News comes on with an alert:  A Giant Sized Evil Stan Lee is detroying the city!  the real Stan Lee comes on the Big Screen and directs them to meet him at the Destiny Ridge Developement site.

Their mission: To Stop Dr Dark's evil clone of Stan Lee!

The threat they face: Attack dogs! Action... Action... Action Time!

The reward they receive: Proto-types of action figures in their costumes!!

Another Mission: At 611 Main Street, proceed with caution... Dr Dark is still on the loose!

But the address is only the facility of 'Realtiy Remix' - see this episode to see what the three contestants reveal to the Reality Hostess about their secret identities! It's a hoot!

Time for mission reports: Instead of using computers as in previous weeks, the Final Three verbally go over with each other their thoughts of each others' progress this week.

Elimination on the Roof: Tina says its' time for Hygena to go... as Hyper Strike did best on the Reality Show, and the Defuser did best with the attack dogs... I'm thinking that I am liking the Defuser more each episode... could be the age factor??

So Who Leaves the Lair????

Stay tuned.... after another commercial....

It's .....

It's.....

NO ONE !!  That's right.... we have 3 Finalists for the final episode!!

Stan thinks that all three are deserving to be the Finalists in the Grand Finale... and so it is True Believers!

Next episode, the Grand Finale to Season 2 !!

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post and check back with us for our next and FINAL Episode 'Take' of 'WHO WANTS TO BE A SUPER-HERO?" Season 2!

Feedback Did Get Recognition Finally !
Mood:  cheeky
Topic: TV Shows

In the Sci-Fi Channel's Saturday Night Movie Showing.... of 'Megasnake' !

No Kidding, That was his 'movie' break!

If you were like us, who watched the first season of Stan Lee's "Who Wants to be a Superhero", you would know that one of the prizes for being chosen as the NEXT Superhero was to have a 'starring role' in a Sci-Fi Channel Original Movie.

Well, Matthew "Feedback" Atherton was chosen as the NEXT Superhero, and we were looking forward to finally get to see him in 'his' movie.

Originally most viewers thought that 'his' movie was going to be an entire movie based around his character of 'Feedback'.

Now it turned out he's 'in' the movie but the movie is 'starring' Michael Shanks.

Didn't Sci-Fi think the winner of the first season carry a 'tv movie' on his own??

Was 'Feedback' robbed???

Sure, he has own 'show' after the latest installment of Season Two airs, both on the Sci-Fi Channel and on SciFi.com, but this doesn't seem right to me!

I checked out others' thoughts on the movie that played, we missed it because it was a 'creature feature' and Tina just doesn't go for 'HoRRoR' films...

Most of the persons that I talked with watched it for the Feedback role and were disapointed in the movie.

Why?  Well it was just a 'standard' creature feature film. There was this snake in 'native American' folklore that if released and fed, would grow up into a huge snake and go on a feeding spree.

Sure.... and the movie supposedly takes place in Tennessee, but with what appears to be Canadian accents not southern accents???

The animation of the snake was supposedly good, CGI is getting better all the time...

Unfortunately, if you saw the Sci-Fi commercials for the movie with Feedback, then you probably saw what was most of his appearance in the movie.

To say that it was disappointing for Feedback / 'Who Wants.... Superhero?' fans would probably be an understatement.

I for one am glad I didn't have Tina sit through the movie to catch those minimal on screen times for Feedback....

If you saw the movie, please let us know what you thought of it by commenting below!!

Sight Unseen In EUReKA TV Show Episode 09-04-07

'Sight Unseen'

'Our Take' On the Episode Of

EUReKA TV Show

09-04-07

As posted previously, Tina and I caught a special presentation with Colin Ferguson, (Sheriff Jack Carter), of this TV Show at the San Diego Comic Con International at the end of July. We had not seen this show before, but were immediately hooked by the one episode and we have caught up with the current season AFTER viewing the previous First Season on DVD...

Here is 'Our Take' On This Week's episode:

(SPOILER WARNING: Don't read the below IF you don't want to know what happened!)

See our blog post about last week's episode on the stupid scientists' tricks episode, which IMHO wasn't up to par for this series.  At the end of that episode the teaser for this week was about an 'invisible man'. Would this be two 'clunker' episodes in a row???

Well, thank goodness it wasn't!  Instead I was impressed with the handling of the 'invisibility' theme. The true 'science' of the invisibility worked was glossed over, but the direction the episode took was very entertaining!

Additionally I liked how the 'moon rocks' played a big role in this episode and how people that think they've seen 'moon rocks' on display have really seen 'fake ones'!!

This is like having Jack finding a 'cure for the common cold' is in EUReKA, only for him to find out that it hasn't been distributed because of the huge economic cost to do so!

Other plotlines are continued from previous weeks:

There is more revealed about how Allison's son was changed.

Henry had dropped a bombshell last episode to Jack that Kim's death wasn't accidental, and in this episode reveals what he knows about her death to Nathan.

Zoe (Jack's daughter) drives alone for her first time and off course has an accident... Turns out she hit the 'invisible man'!

For those interested in the 'Nathan-Allison-Jack Love Triangle' there was a new development.... this episode was the first appearance of a woman named Callie who seemed to be clicking with Jack!  So this may be the beginning of the end for the Allison-Jack union... oh well... if she can't make up her mind....

And what's up for Next week?  Eureka appears to be hit by a biblical plague???  Are the writers going to tackle Science and Religion???

If you haven't seen EUReKA yet, check it out each Tuesday night on the SCI-FI Channel!

And... If you're already a fan, you'll want the '2007 Summer Catalog' of products 'Made In EUReKA' shown at the middle right of the next column.

This fun, faux catalog features pictures and descriptions for EUReKA inventions like the 'Cyro Kennel', Thought Messenger Earpiece', and 'Short Range Personality Scanner'.    COOL and Quirky!

Ghost In the Machine - The 4400 Episode - 'Our Take' On It !
Mood:  incredulous
Topic: TV Shows

The 4400 Episode:

'Ghost In The Machine'

'Our Take' On This Episode of the New Season 4

09-02-07

We first caught this show at the July 2007 San Diego Comic Con International, (SDCC), as we kept running into programs / panels that Ira Steven Behr was sitting on.  Suffice to say that after seeing and hearing him we decided to give this show a try...

Season One DVD was so good that we went to Season Two... then Season Three, all in the space of less than a month, and now are catching up on this Season's episodes. Here is 'Our Take' on this episode:

One Paragraph Snyposis: In the pilot episode, what is thought to be a comet, deposits a group of exactly 4400 people at Highland Beach in the Cascade Range foothills near Mount Rainier, Washington state. All of these 4400 people suddenly disappeared at various times starting in 1946. After their return, none of them have aged, all are disoriented, and they remember nothing between the time of their disappearance and their return at Highland Beach!

 .

(SPOILER WARNING: Don't read the below IF you don't want to know what happened!)

Ok, first of all this show is not going to make sense to those of you who have not seen any previous episodes! This is a continued story and the show is now in its' 4th season.  Our recommendation is to buy/rent the previous seasons on DVD first before coming into this series. (Which is what we did!)

Because if you haven't been keeping up with The 4400 you have missed out on the following plot lines:

Tom Baldwin has been body snatched by a person from the future who wants all 4400 dead! That is why 'he' is acting so strangely this episode for those of you that missed a couple of eps!

Shawn, (Tom's nephew), gave Dr. Burkhoff facilities to research and hopefully discover a way to test yourself before taking the Promicin shot. This is important because of the 50/50 chance of your getting powers or dying!

Dr. Burkhoff discovered that left-handed people have a better chance of surviving the shot!  (What the heck!)

Jordan Collier, who has come back 'from the dead', thinks that everyone should take the Promicin shot, because he believes that if you don't have a '4400' capability that you should should be obsolete and die off... (a little harsh, but what do you expect from a 'prophet'?!).

Now that we are 'up-to-date', this episode has a man suffering from a stroke, hooked up with iv's and laying on a bed in his own home 'attacking' a big Seattle based 'software' company which is making the company's stock crash!

The software company is secretly backing 'Tom' and his team. The software company has to be saved at all costs, so 'Tom' arranges for the death of the '4400' man responsible by making it look like an accident. It is amazing that the man can 'attack' thru the computer hooked up to his bed at home!

The 'accidental' death makes Diana suspicious and now she and Megan, (who is the new NTAC boss), suspect that Tom is not what he seems to be....

Tom suspects that he has been found him out, but is okay with it as he has reactivated Isabelle's 4400 power in this same episode!

This episode is not a 'filler' episode, but is one that is setting up new plot line developments. Now is the chance to catch up on previous episodes before this series cranks up the action!  This is not a 'time sink' show and has not left us hanging like some shows in the past, 'Invasion' and 'Surface' being prime examples!

Thanks for viewing this pop culture - comics - comic book blog post.... and feel free to post your comment below!      Michael (and Tina)
