From the Sci-Fi Channel TV Show Who Wants To Be A Superhero? Season Two 'The Defuser' 'My Take' On This Super-Hero ! This is 'My Take' on One of the Ten Contestants from this SCI-FI Channel Mini-Series that was seen on Thursday nights at 9 p.m. this summer! The latest season of this TV Series ended on September 7th! Tina and I are looking forward to a Season 3 ! For those new to our blog, we have been watching this show since the Preview of it at the San Diego Comic Con International in July 2006, watched the full First season, caught the Preview at the 2007 SDCC and just finished viewing the Grand Finale of the Second Season this past week! Why? Because this is an actual fun and entertaining reality show! (SPOILER WARNING: Don't read the below IF you don't want to know what happened in the LAST Episode!)
This season Tina and I split on our choices for the NEXT Superhero to be chosen by Stan Lee on Season 2 ! Why?? Well it went got down to the Final Three and when none were cut in the 7th Episode, she started coming out for Hyper-Strike. It appears that she was favoring Parthenon, but unfortunately for him, Episode 6 was his last appearance! Tina thought that The Defuser was too bossy, but preferred him over Hygena when it came down to the Final Three. I liked The Defuser because he knew what he was after, and went for it. Besides, he had a good back story, had a great catch phrase, and learned from his several mistakes in previous episodes! The Defuser's Secret Identity was: Jarrett Crippen, a Police Detective in 'real' life, and age 38. The Defuser's super powers were defined as follows: A loner and expert at gadgetry and invention, his specialty is non-lethal weaponry. His powers include enhanced speed, strength, agility, reflexes, hearing and eyesight. He also has night vision to a range of 60 feet. I believe another of Tina's problems about this superhero was that The Defuser's super powers were never really defined on the show... Not everyone goes to the web site for more info! The producers should be aware of that for Season 3 !! I did like The Defuser's catch phrase: "When The Defuser's around, bad guys are going down!". During the Season 2, I felt that The Defuser would probably end up like Major Victory did during Season 1, one of the Final Three or Four, but not winning the coveted title. I am glad that he did win out of the Final Three finalists, and hope to see more of him in the months to come!
Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post and check back with us for more thoughts on Season 2 in the near future! Michael

The 4400- Season 4 - Episode 12: 'Tiny Machines' 'Our Take' On This Episode of the New Season 4 09-09-07 We first caught this show at the July 2007 San Diego Comic Con International, (SDCC), as we kept running into programs / panels that Ira Steven Behr was sitting on. Suffice to say that after seeing and hearing him we decided to give this show a try... The Season One DVD was so good that we went to Season Two... then Season Three, all in the space of less than a month, and now are catching up on this Season's episodes. Here is 'Our Take' on this episode: First, A One Paragraph Snyposis: In the pilot episode, what is thought to be a comet, deposits a group of exactly 4400 people at Highland Beach in the Cascade Range foothills near Mount Rainier, Washington state. All of these 4400 people suddenly disappeared at various times starting in 1946. After their return, none of them have aged, all are disoriented, and they remember nothing between the time of their disappearance and their return at Highland Beach!
(SPOILER WARNING: Don't read the below IF you don't want to know what happened this episode!)
4400 were taken. 4400 were returned. Each has a unique power. One of them has a message. Anyone can become extraordinary. The Risk is Great. But so are the results. And now there is no turning back. This episode we find out that in the future vasts amounts of water has been lost. As 'Tom' is looking at all that Seattle water, and he is being told by another from the future that in the current day, mankind doesn't appreciate all their resources! Trip is taken to Canada by Diana and Meghan. Purpose of the trip is to check out Peters regarding the Mark. Chris Peters is a movie director in Canada. He had written a screenplay about those with the 'Mark'. He opens up just slightly about those with the Mark. Shawn and a group of 4400's break Doctor Burkhoff out of his confinement by Jordan Collier. Tom picks up Maia from school, takes her to her home, they talk and have a soda and Tom drugs her. He then injects her with a dose of the inhibitor, so she doesn't have any visions for a couple of weeks. We find that 'tiny machines' (nanobots) are injected thru the cerebral spinal fluid while Diana, Meghan and Marko are talking about this probability in the theory room. Tom walks in and interrupts them... Shawn's brother and mother drop in at his operations. The brother wants to take the possibility test, but the test isn't fully ready yet. Tom goes to Canada, interrogates the movie director as to why Diana and his boss came there, and afterwards kills him. Cut to NTAC headquarters where Tom is startled at the office late at night by Diana. He is trying to leave NTAC with sensitive records. Diana calls Tom out, saying she knows he is 'marked'. Tom slugs her, and runs out with the files. Isabelle is to kidnap Jordan, so she beds Tom's son, Kyle, first.... Shawn's brother injects the promicin shot into himself as Dr Burkoff says he's 90% sure that he is safe to take it and live.... Isabelle is inside Jordan's Promise City, where she had bedded Kyle, and walks to where Jordan is sitting in the same building and kidnaps him. She brings him to where Tom is, at a house overlooking a body of water. Jordan thinks Tom is set to kill him, but Tom says no, the idea is to make Jordan a traitor to his cause! Jordan is injected with a tranquilizer to put him to sleep... Tom then receives a call on his cell phone from Maia, and is lured to a motel room by Maia/Diana/Meghan. Tom arrives, a struggle ensues... Tom escapes to a depot type of store, where Diana shoots Tom in the stomach twice!!!! To Be Continued in the Season Finale NEXT WEEK ! Indiana Jones Will Be Back in the Movie Titled: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull !
The above title is a new 'update' for the following blog post that Tina first blogged about after attending the end of July's Indiana Jones Program at the San Diego Comic Con International! -------------------- "Paramount Pictures treated Comic Con fans to a "live" video feed from the set of Steven Spielberg's fourth Indiana Jones installment due Memorial Day 2008. Harrison Ford looks every bit his age - paunchy with thinning hair under Indy's trademark hat. But, to be fair, he still has that sexy voice. Pay Winstone (soon to be as Beowulf) plays the John Rhys-Davies-like sidekick. Shia Labeouf (Transformers) brings much needed youth and humor to the cast. The surprise reveal was Karen Allen reprising her role of Marian Ravenwood. She looks not a day older. Astonishing. Check out the movie poster here if still available. For those that like Good Movies like this one should be, just click on the photo to the top right to check out our Indiana Jones comic books!!
You are welcome to post YOUR comment about this show or the actors below!"

We Discovered This Show At the SDCC In July........
...where we saw Matt Dallas (Kyle XY) in person on a few programs. (The SDCC stands for San Diego Comic Con). Tina, (my wife), and I decided to give this show a chance, and we finished watching all the discs from the First Season as they were received from our online Video Service. After viewing the first disc, Tina stated that I seemed to be more interested in continuing with the series than she did.
Kyle XY just didn't move fast enough for her or me, but the actor Matt Dallas is darn good in the role of Kyle. The teenage angst that is prominent in this series also shows that the show is targeting a younger viewing audience than the two of us! The other actors are fine too, so it must be that the epsiodes just don't move fast enough for me. Maybe that is why so many others in attendance at the SDCC programs were not watching this show, but were watching other shows that TV Guide were showcasing at the same programs. I for one want to continue watching the show the 2nd Season on TV. It does have a 'hook', but for a mainstream audience to continue watching, it needs to move a little faster! For those interested in Comic Con Promo Items, like the Kyle XY comic a the top right, we have several promo items listed in our eBay Featured Store. Thank you for reading this Pop Culture / Comics - Comic Book - Comic Books Blog Post and Feel Free to comment below! Michael |
