Note From Make It So Marketing: Each comic / comics book or magazine in our eBay Featured Store is individually graded, inventoried, priced, bagged and boarded, before being listed for sale! We attend several pop culture and comic books conventions during the year to replenish our inventory for resale! | That's Right! Spiders Do Have A 3rd Spider-Man Movie this year to spin a web with! Dogs Do Have an 'Underdog' Movie to run with! Turtles Do have a New TMNT Movie to poke their heads at! But Ants still DON'T have the 'new' Ant-Man Movie to picnic at Yet!! Unfortunately there was NO program at the 2007 SDCC Comic Con showing any update status on the 'upcoming' Ant-Man Movie! Just updates on some green guy and an iron-clad man....The Ants and I are upset about this!!In a previous blog post I wrote the following: 'Ant-Man' will be directed by Edgar Wright, of 'Shaun of the Dead' fame. The script is written by Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish. The theatrical movie will be produced by Avi Arad, financed by Marvel Studios, and to be released by Paramount Pictures. Tina and I attended the Marvel Movies program at the San Diego Comic Con International last summer, (2006), where this was announced. Marvel will be financing its' own movies as much as possible after it has been proven that comic book movies can be profitably made. However, to choose Ant-Man, who I personally love as a character based on the Hank Pym version, to be one of the first to have his own movie financed by Marvel seems to be a long-shot, (no pun intended). The director spoke at the program, and his choice of Scott Lang, who took Hank Pym's equipment and became the second version of Ant-Man, to be the star of this movie just doesn't ring true for me. There is supposed to be a flashback of Hank Pym as the first Ant-Man at the beginning of the movie, but time will tell if that is in the released version. So, if there is anyone out there in Blogland that has an update and wants to share about it, feel free to comment below! Thanks for viewing this pop culture - comics - comic books blog post! We attend several pop culture and comic books conventions during the year to replenish our inventory for resale! | Howard the Duck That Is !!! Howard the Duck last ran for President back in 1976, as seen by the now RARE Howard the Duck Campaign Button to the right. Howard was originally just a comic book character, but he became a movie star (some say flop) in the 1986 film produced by Lucasfilm and Universal Pictures, after his presidential campaign bid fizzled out... The film about his life on Earth was directed by Willard Huyck from a script by Huyck and his wife Gloria Katz. The film starred Lea Thompson, Jeffrey Jones, Tim Robbins, and Chip Zien as the voice of Howard. Supposedly the film was inspired by the Marvel Comics characters Howard the Duck and Beverly Switzler who were created by Steve Gerber, although their appearance and portrayals in the film almost completely ignored their original source material. The film was widely panned by the critics and was known as a box office bomb and reviled by fans, but it renewed enough attention on the character for the Marvel Comics Group to keep Howard the Duck in the Marvel Universe as a Guest Star here and there.... So since Howard the Duck isn't as busy as he once was, perhaps it is time for us to draft him as a presidential candidate again! Instead of these early mud-slinging verbal contests, and candidate sniping videos, Howard would excel at 'shaking the tail feathers' contests!! Especially since the Rock Band 'Kiss' has special interest in performing at his gigs, (See issues #12 & #13 of his first solo series). For those interested in figuring out if Howard is truly the one to vote for, we have several comic books about his early adventures in our eBay Featured Store! Check them out and vote early (and often!!). Thanks for reading this pop culture -comic blog post, and feel free to comment below!! Michael |

We attend several pop culture and comic books conventions during the year to replenish our inventory for resale! | The Cisco Kid! Pancho! Leo Carillo! Carillo Ranch! ( Part 1 ) That's a lot of headlines on top!! Well, it's because we went to see the Leo Carillo Ranch, which is now a Carlsbad park, but it had been the home and working ranch of Leo Carillo who had played the 'sidekick' to the Cisco Kid on the TV Show!! Having a major interest in TV Westerns, and their collectibles, we decided to picnic at the LC Ranch today with my youngest son. Additionally we took the tour with docent Ron Bykowski for about 2 hours. He added great background stories to the hacienda and ranch, which we appreciated! Carlsbad, the State of California, and the Federal Government, plus local organizations have invested about $7 million dollars into the restoration of the ranch. We highly recommend it to visitors that are interested in the Old California lifestyle of the days of the Spanish Land Grants. Leo used the ranch as a retreat from his Hollywood work, but invited many on Hollywood's 'A' List to come down to the ranch for his twice a year Rodeos. Matter of fact Clark Gable and Carole Lombard honeymooned at the ranch, and others including Walt Disney, Danny Thomas etc came for visits. The photo to the top left is a cover from Cisco Kid Comics #30. Duncan Renaldo played the Cisco Kid, and Leo Carillo played Pancho. The middle photo is myself and Tina at the entrance to the Park, standing by the State Of California Historical Site Designation sign. The bottom photo is of the Ranch Barn, and the stable to right is where Conquistador, Pancho's horse, stayed when not guest starring on TV ! This is end of Part 1. More to follow... Now you know there is more in Carlsbad, California than just 'Legoland' and beaches! For additional info on this ranch park, see www.carillo-ranch.org . For those interested in our American 'Old West', we have several comic books about TV Westerns, Western Movies, and more Western Comics in our eBay Featured Store!
