You May Be Thinking... What 1994 Fantastic Four Movie ???

The first live action Fantastic Four Movie was never shown in theaters after it was produced in 1994 by Roger Corman.

Roger quickly finished the film as his rights to the FF were running out...

I met three of the four actors who portrayed the FF at the 1994 San Diego Comic Con. They were sincere in their portrayals of the FF and I really enjoyed meeting them and having my pic taken with them!

However, the movie wasn't to be released, and upon purchasing a bootleg video at a later comic con, I realized why....  It was really bad,  terrible actually what had happened to my favorite comic book superheroes.

It wasn't until ten years later at the SDCC in 2004 that I saw the new actors who had just been signed to play in the new film have a program at the SDCC, and they were introduced to the con goers.

I thought the choice for Mr Fantastic, and the Thing were great. I thought the choice for the Invisible Woman was all wrong... she was too sexy to portray Sue Storm.  And I couldn't figure out the actor that would portray the Torch.

The capper to the program was the choice of director.... and what he had directed before...  oh no I thought, not another upcoming clunker movie of my FF !!!

Well I was wrong... the 2005 movie was a lot better than I expected, better than I hoped it could be.... and I came away a lot happier!!!

I looked forward to the second installment, 'The Rise of the Silver Surfer' for the Summer of 2007!

But I still thought Jessica Alba was too young and sexy for the Invisible Woman role !!

For those interested in Fantastic Four comics on which the movies are based on, we have several listed in our eBay Featured Store.

Season Finale

For The Next Great American Band

12-21-07 Episode

This television series was aired on the Fox Network on Friday Nights For 10 Episodes.

Last night was the Season Finale with the Final Three Bands performing one more time.

Interspersed between their last performance were bands and a mixture of band members playing other songs together, plus a Christmas medley of songs.

Something to keep the viewers interested until the Big Reveal at the end of the show as to who the winner was!

'The Likes Of You' band opened with scenes of previous episodes in the background.

The Clark Brothers performed a quiet beautiful song next.

Sheila E performed with an all female band which featured her on a drum solo. So-So for me...

Six Wire played 'The Last Time' cover of the Rolling Stones song. Good performance!

Goo Goo Dolls performed. Tina says the song was a big hit for them... but it didn't do anything for me!

Denver & MHO peformed... 'Vehichle' song by Ides of March. Wished Denver could have sung like that all the time...

But before the applause for D&MHO was even over, the host was telling them they were not the winners... they came in third.

'Pretty Brutal' said Tina about how DMHO were slapped in the face so quickly.  'Chicken (excrement)' said Michael!

The Christmas Medley was next.. with previous bands' members performing with each other.

The 'funniest line' of the night per Tina, was when the lead singer of Dot Dot Dot said, 'Kids, lock up your mothers..." here's Six-Wire!

Near the end was 'Rock n' Roll Christmas' with all the bands performing together. 'That got a little scary" said Tina!

Then came the final minutes. Out of 2.5 million votes cast... the winner of the NGAB show was... 'The Clark Brothers'!

Tina, (who voted for them last week), immediately was pleased. "America wants someone authentic and unique" she said.

The Clark Brothers ended the show with their 'Billy The Kid" original song...

Supposedly there could be a 2nd Season to this, but there were only 14 million votes totally cast for the entire series. Whereas American Idol received 20+ million for their final show last season...

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post!

The End Of The Series For Journeyman !
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: TV Shows

Click here to see all of current listings!

Above are Reed Diamond, Moon Bloodgood, Kevin McKidd and Gretchen Egolf who were the main characters on the Journeyman TV Show on NBC.

Series Creator Kevin Falls had promised that the last two episodes would "provide some answers, plenty of speculation, a few surprises and hopefully some satisfying closure. They are, I promise you, very entertaining".

Monday (December 17th's episode) was exactly that! We taped the Wednesday night episode to see the last episode and blog about it here...

Time Travel TV Shows usually don't have time to include regular supporting cast members or 'sidekicks'such as 'Livia' (who was played by Moon Bloodgood) in each episode.

However Journeyman had almost an equal amount of 'air time' for time travel new characters as well as regular cast members. Yet it still didn't make the ratings charts NBC needed to satisfy advertisers!

The End Of The Series

For Journeyman

12-19-07 Episode

Journeyman was a New NBC Show that aired on Monday Nights at 10 PM, After 'Heroes'.

This past Wednesday night, December 19th 2007 was the airing of the LAST episode of this 13 episode TV Series!

Tina and I already blogged our thoughts about the Pilot Episode ...  click here to see !

This show was about time travel, which is a hard concept for the mainstream viewing public to become emotionally attached to.

Additionally, NBC's Monday Night lineup was Chuck, Heroes, then Journeyman.

As I have blogged about previously, none of these were a good lead in for the next show, which NBC finally figured out when they aired an episode of 'Life' instead of 'Journeyman' recently after 'Heroes'.

I personally enjoy time travel shows, with Quantum Leap being one of my favorite TV shows of all time.

However, the cast in these shows usually don't get much air time, so the viewership has less chance to get emotionally attached to the cast members.

We taped the last episode and were able to view it last night. I have not yet read any other bloggers' posts about the final episode, so the following is from my viewpoint only!

With such brief notice, the creator and producers of the show wrapped this series up in the final two shows rather nicely.  I will not reveal the ending to those that have not seen it yet... suffice to say it was not totally concluded, probably in case it were to be picked up by another network.

The Final Episode did give us answers, and left me on a 'high' for the series.

The conclusion was more fitting than Quantum Leap's ending which left everyone wondering... This Series ended nicely and in a much shorter time span of only 13 episodes!

Well done and I for one don't feel I wasted my time watching this series!

Walt Simonson's

 Fantastic Four!

Click Here for all of our currently listed Fantastic Four Comics!

Back in the early 1990's Marvel Comics was looking to increase its' circulation, so it, as well as its' Darling Competitors, started all kinds of promos!

The publishers printed millions of comics for speculators including foil covers, die-cut covers, multiple covers for one comic book story, etc. etc.

However there was one comic book title that didn't have those special printed 'collectors' items printed till a little later on.

The Fantastic Four's title was able to start 1990 with a great writer/artist  by the name of Walt Simonson who had helped The Mighty Thor's title starting with issue #337 of that series.

So it was only fitting that Walt started both covers and interior art Plus his writing with issue #337 of the FF!

I later saw Walt Simonson at the 2000 SDCC and had him sign a copy of that issue to me, as shown at top left photo!
