Do The Leap!

That's What I Did! I am proud to admit that I was a 'Quantum Leaper'!

Indeed, I attended the first Quantum Leap Convention held by Creation Entertainment in  Los Angeles years ago.

I then attended each sucessive one that the QL Fans put on in LA, Pasadena & Burbank. Why?  Because it was great knowing I wasn't the only one that thought  QL was great and I could share that experience with hundreds if not thousands of others !!!!

I bought all the QL fan magazines, and there were at least four that ran for a few years! Plus the fan fiction, some of that was really strange, especially when they cross overed with other TV Shows!

Naturally, being a comic book collector, I bought all the Quantum Leap Comics as they came out, and picked up extras for the stars to sign at the cons, and the artists and writer of the comics. The comic book series ran for 13 issues, plus one special reprint, and an annual. The comic book started in September 1991 and ended August 1993.

I really miss those QL Conventions, they were jam packed with actors and actresses that had guest starred on the TV show and it was great meeting them and the two featured stars at the con each year!! .

Bob Le Mond Voice Of The Bat Masterson TV Show

As Well As 'Leave It To Beaver', 'Our Miss Brooks', 'I Love Lucy', 'The Red Skelton Show'...

... and several other TV shows, passed away earlier this month at the age of 94 here in San Diego County at his home in Bonsall.

Bob's voice would be very recognizable to baby boomers and the older generations due to the popularity of those shows, but he could pass on the streets without being recognized throughout his many years.

Bob was both a radio and television announcer, with many shows being voiced by him during the 1940's and 1950's.

Bob had been born in Texas, but grew up in Southern California.  He had retired in 1971 and moved to Bonsall, where he became involved in real estate.

Bob had met Barbara Brewster, of the 'Brewster Twins' who were known from their 20th Century Fox films fame, and they were married in 1946. She had passed away earlier in 2005.

Bob had come back for a 50th Reunion of the 'I Love Lucy' TV Show in 2001 recently.

'Our Take' On:

American Idol

01-22-08

 San Diego!

Tina and I remember when American Idol came to town for auditions... It was during the 2007 SDCC Comic Con convention in July.

While we were having fun in the air conditioned convention center, thousands of other people from ages 16 - 28 were officially trying out for the TV show.

There were 2 days of auditions, only a few of them were aired for the show Tuesday night.

Here are our thoughts on just a few:

Tetiana Ostapowych, Venice CA. 3 yes' from judges, just so-so for me.

Perrie Cataldo, Phoenix AZ, single dad, 3 yes', Tina didn't like it.

Michael Johns, LA CA, originally form Australia. Tina says he looks and sounds good.

Valerie Reyes, Riverside CA. Me-She looked great but bad audition. Tina says horrible!

Samantha Musa, Baldwin Park CA. See video to the left. Tina says good audition.

2nd Day Auditions:

Blake Boshnack, Long Beach NY. Was the Statue of Liberty singer in Season 5. This is his 11th audition... wonder if he'll get the hint???

Sarah Long, San Diego CA, Randy compared her to William Hung...

Carly Smithson, originally from Ireland, San Diego Ca.

Tina wants to know if this is 'American Idol', why are there so many not from America? Carly had won a Golden Ticket before but her visa expired and she had to leave the country...

There are several other 'Idol' Shows in the world...

End results: 31 from San Diego get the Golden Ticket To Hollywood!

Wednesday Night 01-23-08 the show auditions in South Carolina!

Thanks for reading our pop culture - comics - comic book blog post!

Michael (and Tina)
