Our Top 5 Of The American Idol Remaining 5 !

Our Top 5

Of The American Idol's Remaining 5!

This blog post's list was written right after the announcement last night that Carly Smithson was going home...

I wanted to wait to make sure that no emotions were left from the surprise that both Syesha and Carly were in the Bottom 2 of the Top 6...

Tina has always said that I 'have no taste in music', which I have blogged about here before!

Funny thing is, her Top 5 List and my Top 5 List are exactly in the same order!

Again, this list is OUR TAKE which is based on our thoughts of the Talent, Personality and overall performances for the Season, NOT Popularity, as this current week's results have clearly proven that this is a Popularity Contest, not Talent Contest!

Our Top 5 Based on that criteria are as follows:

#1 David Cook

#2 Syesha Mercado

#3 David Archuletta

#4 Brooke White

#5 Jason Castro

FYI, we have blogged about Season 7 since the first show. CLICK HERE for our previous blog post about the 3 Judges Thoughts on The Final 8!

For those of you new to us, we have an ongoing pop culture - comics convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Archived Blog Posts Live On!

I have been asked why we keep our numerous archived blog posts online instead of deleting them...

Well, I just had another query, this time from a United Kingdom eBayer who took the time to click on one of our current listings to ask me a question about an archived blog post from December 30, 2007... which is about 4 months old now!

The archived blog post was on 'Weather Woman' Kei Mizutani who I met at the SDCC 2000.

There I had her sign some posters to me, and also picked up a couple of other promotional items, not really knowing who she was as I hadn't seen the 'Weather Woman' films!

But I enjoy seeing new actors / actresses and other new and upcoming projects when attending pop culture or comics conventions!

So, we'll be keeping our archived blog posts ongoing both on our eBay Blog and non-eBay Blog as we never know who'll be contacting us next about some archived blog post we have!

For those of you new to us, we have an ongoing pop culture - comics convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

So come back and visit us again!

Do YOU

Want To Know The 'Value' Of Your Comic Books?

Then what you need is a Comic Book Price Guide!

For those of you that go to either estate sales, comic book conventions, swap meets, or even garage sales, having a 'hard copy' comic book price guide is the way to go!

We use the one standard reference that has been in print since the 1970's, that is the 'Overstreet's Comic Book Price Guide'!

Since we refer to it so much we purchase the Spiral Bound Edition, which is coming out the final week of May 2008 if you want to wait for that edition!

And the latest edition, #38, is out now for purchase.

No, we don't have it for sale, but just wanted to give all of our blog readers a 'heads up' that it has been published!

For those of you new to us, we have an ongoing pop culture - comics convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post and come back to visit us again!

Carly Smithson On 'Fox In The Morning' TV Show

Carly Smithson

On 'Fox In The Morning' TV Show!

Just finished watching a special segment on our local Channel 6 Fox Station.

Lynda Martin, co-anchor of the Fox In The Morning News Show, interviewed Carly Smithson.

Lynda asked Carly of course if it was shocking.

Carly said, "it's always shocking!". "Shock or no shock, it was an amazing experience!"

Carly also said the following lines during the interview:

"It was really cool."

"I left on a high note. It was great to be a part of the Top Six."

"Brooke didn't think I was going home."

"No more theme nights. Can make music of my own again."

Regarding missing out on next week's Neil Diamond theme: "I was going to mix it up a bit, and surprise everyone".

"I miss hanging out at my tattoo shop!"

"It's given me a platform to go on, and just be Carly!"

"The show is what it is. They want drama."

"Sometimes Simon had a bit of a 'puss' on his face."

Lynda Martin liked that comment about Simon, the best line she had heard yet!

"Superstar was more 'me' and I was glad I did it!"

It was a brief interview segment, but it was fun to watch the local San Diego Station's interview of Carly the morning after from a 'hometown' perspective!

American Idol Results Show 04-23-08 Our Take!

Our Take On
The American Idol
Results Show

'The Final 6'
04-23-08

Wednesday Night was once again the 'Results Show' where the results of "America's" votes were broadast, with the ending result of one contestant being sent home...

The below were the contestants declared to be in the 'bottom two' of the Final 6 by "America", with their scores ranked by Tina and Michael from the night of their latest performance:

The 'Bottom 2 Of The Final 6'

(No #)

Name of ContestantMichael's TakeScore DifferenceTina's Take
1Syesha Mercado   9.25   0.259.5
2

Carly Smithson

   9.5   1.08.5

General show news first:

Over 38 million votes came in after the performances were broadcast.

The American Idol Tour 2008 starts in Glendale, Arizona.

The 'Tainted Love' Ford Video Promo was shown with the idols as comic book characters that reminded Tina visually of the TV Show 'Heroes'.

Next week's "mentor" is Neil Diamond.

Secondly: The following are our thoughts while watching the process, and the results announced:

Tina laughed and said that "Andrew Lloyd Webber wanted his photo with the girl with all the tats!" (This was at the end of the opening number where Andrew performed with the idols.)

When it was Brooke or Syesha who was to be sent to the stools instead of the 'safe couch', and it turned out to be Syesha...  Tina said "America has got it so wrong!"  "Brooke sang poorly and blew her lyrics." "Unforgiveable in auditions! She would have been sent home during Hollywood Week"!  "This is B.S.!"

When it was Carly or Jason who was to be sent to the stools, and it turned out to be Carly... Tina looked at Michael and said "Do you believe this??!!

Tina's analysis... after she calmed down a bit was: "Neither of them (Syesha or Carly) have a voting block of people behind them."  "People who would have liked Carly are going to David Cook to vote." "People who would have liked Syesha are probably going to David Archuletta to vote."

After Carly was voted out, Tina said Carly's gone "because she doesn't have the personality, was inconsistent, and  had poor song choices in the past, so she didn't build a fan base".

Randy Jackson said it "was more a popularity week", which Tina and Michael both agreed with!  So much for Simon's wanting it to be a 'talent show'!

Michael just shook his head and pondered on the Remaining Five. Two who just don't belong there IHHO, a coaster who has been getting by on their looks, one who is turning it up finally but probably too late, and one who is similar to Blake from last year where he is innovative and good but probably not what "America" wants...  Sheesh... how many more weeks of this show are left??!!

BTW, we are in North San Diego County area, so right after Idol, the Fox TV Station 6 went straight to news. Since Carly is "from" San Diego (Ireland really), the lead news was about Carly, and the reactions at the restuarant/bar where Carly was a bartender until the auditions for American Idol.  The group at the place was still upset about Carly being booted off, and their comments were interesting enough to listen to for a while...

Also, Tina and I are NOT saying that Carly was the best performer overall, or even our favorite... just that in cumulative performances, there were at least two other 'idols' that should have been voted off first IOHOs!

For those that missed our previous blog posts on this TV Show.... Please see the following link for our most previous blog post. We have been blogging about Season 7 since the first week:
