Our Take On The Iron Man Film

Part 2

Tina's Take!

(Note: We will be reviewing the screening of this film separately - We will attempt from posting any spoilers!)

Back from the May 2nd 2008 Iron Man Film Screening!

"Two Thumbs Up - Both of mine" says Tina!

I love a good origin movie (think Spider-Man 1 and Batman Begins, as opposed to The Incredible Hulk.)

And, this is a good origin movie.  The character development was involving and entertaining.

Robert Downey Jr is spot-on as the snarky playboy.  It's a dream cast of Academy Award winner and nominees.

The story is well played.  We walked away feeling that we saw a movie - an action movie - not a "comic book" movie.

For me, the casting of Terrence Howard seemed a little off - who knew Rhodey was a metrosexual - but Howard does a fine job.

Favorite scene: when Iron Man fires up in the red and gold for the first time - it's exhilarating.

Favorite movie moment: Stan Lee's cameo - watch for him on the red carpet at Stark Industries' charity event.

Best line: the last line of the movie. (I won't ruin it for you.)

One final note: The picture is rated PG-13. I would strongly caution parents to leave the young ones home.  While much of the violence is off-screen.  You know people are being killed; you don't see them dying.  However, there are two rather disturbing torture scenes - definitely not suitable for young ones.

Overall, I enjoyed it! Tell us what you think if you have seen it!

Our Take On The Iron Man Film

Part 1

Michael's Take!

(Note: We will be reviewing our screening of this film separately - Also we will try not to post any spoilers if possible)

Back from the May 2nd 2008 Iron Man Film Screening!

1st- The teaser trailers that have been released previously have given away some of the film's best scenes.

So the opening scene is one we've seen before, thus it is a little 'flat' for opening the actual film, or was it 'poor editing'?

2nd- The origin of Tony Stark / Iron Man is a little slow, possibly due to the 'realism' that is injected in this storyline.

3rd- Th film is NOT 'comic-booky', as other than a small segment of the final act's fight scene, it is very realistic looking! Kudos to the CGI experts!

4th- Regarding the actors:

Robert Downey Jr truly IS Tony Stark, Great!

Paltrow is better as Pepper Potts that what several other critics have said of her.

Howard is Okay as Rhodey, IMHO.

Jeff Bridges is Outstanding as Stane!

Stan Lee was funny as 'Hef' in his cameo!

Jon (the director) sneaks in as 'Happy Hogan'...

5th- This film is truly PG-13. We saw the evening matinee, so there were some younger kids there, and several were scared by the realistic violence. It is NOT comic-booky!

6th- Worth the money, time watching and waiting for today??? Yes, Yes AND Yes! I would give it an 8.5 out of 10 points for being an 'Origin Movie'.

7th- Note: DON'T leave the theater before the end of the film's credits!  You Marvel Fans DON'T want to miss the final scene!

8th- Very happy to see in the credits the Iron Man creators listed: Stan Lee, Don Heck, Larry Lieber & Jack Kirby!

Come back for Part 2 where Tina blogs her review!

So Who's HOT Right Now In Our Archived Blog Posts? 05-02-08

So Who's

'Hot'

 In Our Archived Blog Posts

Right Now?

None Other Than...

Nick Fury Agent Of S.H.I.E.L.D

A James Bond Style Of Comic  Book Character!

Regular Readers of our Blog know that I check our Blog Stats daily!

Last night and right NOW it is our archived blog posts on the Nick Fury Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. blog posts' turn to be 'Hot', because right now these archived blog posts are reaching 24% of our current blog viewership!

Last night I couldn't figure out why those Nick Fury posts were suddenly  'Hot'  but I got it figured out now!

It's because of the Iron Man Film that is out today!

Why?

Because some of the film prints have Nick Fury (featuring SAMUEL L JACKSON) in a cameo role in this film, while other film prints being shown don't have him in there!

So... I was right last night thinking that the Iron Man Film archived blog posts should be the one(s) being most looked at... it just took me a while to figure out what the connection was, LOL!

For those new to us... we have ongoing pop culture - comics convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post and come back to visit us again!

Getting Ready To See The Iron Man Film!

Getting Ready To See

The Iron Man Film!

W00-Hoo!

Only 3 More Hours To Go!

As stated in an earlier blog post, Tina pulled out her Iron Man Film T-shirt from the closet in preparation for seeing the Iron Man theatrical film tonight!

I promised our blog readers that I would photgraph her in it, so you could all see how excited she was to wear it!

So, instead of my mug for a change, we have Tina in the Iron Man Film t-shirt that was distributed at the Special Iron Man Program at the SDCC 2007 (San Diego Comic Con International)!

She is pictured with the front of the shirt with a repulsor ray, and also the words on the back of the tshirt promoting the film.

PLUS both sides glow in the dark! So she'll be getting some strange looks tonight when we are inside the theater, LOL!

She's been excited about it since seeing the previews of the film at the SDCC 2007 (San Diego Comic Con International)!

And I am excited too, as I have been waiting for decades for Marvel's line up of Super-Heroes to hit the Big Screen!

I've blogged about Spiderman's Trilogy of Films, Daredevil, Elektra, Fantastic Four's 3 Films, Ghost Rider, Blade, X-Men's Trilogy... And Now it's "Shellhead's" turn!

For those of you that are new to our blog, we have an ongoing comics and pop culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Mr. Moviefone Recommends This Movie!

Mr. Moviefone Recommends This Movie!

What Else But...

 Iron Man!

Had a late breakfast this morning, so caught the 'Mr. MovieFone' segment on CNN's Robin Meade Show, 'Morning Express'.

'Mr. MovieFone' gave a great review, saying among other things that 'Robert Downey Jr ROCKS this movie'!

He also mentioned that Iron Man may not be as well known as the Amazing Spider-Man, the X-Men, or the Incredible Hulk, but he liked that Iron Man didn't get his powers from a spider bite, being a mutant, or being radiated by gamma rays!

He kind of gave away the opening part of this origin film, but he can be forgiven, as so many other spoiler trailers and blog posts have already done so!

He definitely recommended this movie, saying it is a great blockbuster to start the season!

BTW, we're going later today... woo-hoo!
