Laura Vandervoort

On New DVD

Season 7 Of Smallville!

Released

September 9th!

Yesterday I saw a significant increase in viewership of our archived blog posts on Laura Vandervoort...

Which isn't such a big deal for us, as she is usually in the Top 20 of archived blog posts!

However today, our archived blog post on her are seeing even heavier activity, which reminds me that I haven't blogged about "her" new DVD that was released today!

Well actually, it's the Season 7 DVD of the TV Series 'Smallville', which IMHO the producers should have never let her go for Season 8!

At least evidenced by Laura's ongoing Top 20 archived blog posts with our small niche blog!

So congrats to Laura for making a lasting impression on her Smallville Fans!

BTW, the MSRP on the DVD is $59.98, but you can definitely get it for less!

Have Sum Fun locating a copy for yourself!

BTW, we don't have a TV Station here, but we do have an ongoing Comic Con  and Pop Culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Thanks for reading this post today and please join us again!

Kamandi, One Of Jack Kirby's Great Ideas!
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: Comic Book History

Kamandi...

One Of Jack Kirby's Great Ideas!

We recently picked up more Jack Kirby comics including his 1970's series of Kamandi for DC Comics and The Eternals for Marvel Comics. After reading and then grading them I've listed them for sale.

For those that don't about Kamandi: The Last Boy on Earth, it was published from 1972 to 1978 by DC Comics.

Kamandi himself was portayed as a young 'hero' in a Post-Apocalyptic future, which was set in a parallel Earth of the DC Universe's future.

It was set in a period after an event called "The Great Disaster". In that period humans are a persecuted minority in a world ruled by intelligent, highly evolved animals.

If that sounds familiar to you, then remember that an earlier 1968 movie 'Planet of the Apes'  also portrayed an animal-ruled world!

Indeed, the cover of Kamandi #1, showing a demolished Statue of Liberty, was posibly inspired by a similar scene in the 'Planet of the Apes' movie just before it ended!

However, if you were to think that Jack Kirby was 'aping' the movie, he actually had drawn a similiar theme in a comic book story in 'Alarming Tales' #1 back in September 1957.

In that comic book Jack drew a story entitled "The Last Enemy."

In that story, he has a man traveling in time to the year 2514, where he finds that humans are extinct! That time traveler finds that the world is ruled by tribes of intelligent tigers, dogs, and rats!

Jack's drawings of these intelligent animals are very much similar to his later drawings in Kamandi 15 years later!

This series was one of the last that Jack Kirby wrote and drew for DC Comics before returning to Marvel Comics. Some of my favorite artists of the Silver Age took over the book after Jack left to go back to Marvel Comics. Those included Chic Stone and Dick Ayers!

We have an ongoing Comic Con  and pop culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale! Just click on the cover at the top right to see our current listings!

Journeyman TV Show.... DVD?

Journeyman TV Show....

 The DVD?

For the Cancelled Show That Was On The NBC Channel!

Readers of our blog will know that 'Journeyman' was one of my favorite shows of the last TV Season.

Due to many factors, including a WGA Strike, the show was not continued after the Strike was settled.

Afterward hearing that the show was not coming back, some 'Journeyman' fans initiated an attempt to revive production of this series by sending boxes of Rice a Roni, which is a product associated with San Francisco where the show took place, to NBC executives!

As we learned at last year's San Diego Comic Con, another show's fans had done this successfully by sending "Nuts" to CBS executives.

That 'Nuts Campaign' led to a second season of the CBS series Jericho!

However this proved not to work in this show's revival, and even a petition drive was started that didn't get the results the fans wanted...

So now there has been a drive on to get the 13 episodes on a DVD for 'Journeyman'.

As of today, that DVD is not available, although you can put your name on a list when it is made available at "The River".

Since this blog post is first published in our eBay Blog, you can figure out what web site I am referring to...

Also, "the River" would have it on video on demand, however due to their licensing agreements, they cannot currently provide the video streaming online.

Sheesh!!

Well, when either is available, I'll probably hear about it and blog about it here!

BTW, we don't have a TV Station or a Video Streaming Server here, but we do have an ongoing Comic Con  and Pop Culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

The Sarah Connor Chronicles is Back and Kicking Robot Butt!

Terminator:

 The Sarah Connor Chronicles

Premiered September 8th On The FOX Channel!

Michael and I lost interest in The Sarah Connor Chronicles last season after several rather bloody episodes.

While I love the Terminator movies - they're so cathartic -- I had a hard time with the tv show's unrelenting gore.  So, after a while, we gave up on it.  It was just too depressing.

But we decided to check out last night's season premiere - man did we miss a lot!

The best revelation was Cameron (the Terminator) survived the explosion but her mission changed when she rebooted -- to terminate John Connor -- cool!

And, I enjoyed seeing
"Mom" Sarah Connor get her ass kicked all over the place - she's so annoying - and another reason why we gave up on the show.

We're eagerly anticipating the "reboot" of the Terminator franchise with Terminator Salvation next year.  The movie chronicles the rise of John connor (Christian Bale) to lead the resistance. So, the new movie and the tv show are bookends around the Terminator story.

If you're into Terminator, check out the cool T-shirts I picked up at Comic-Con by clicking here

Knight Rider Premieres September 24th!

Knight Rider

Premieres September 24th On The NBC Channel!

We have already blogged about several new TV Shows and Films that are upcoming the rest of this year, that we either saw programs or premieres of at the San Diego Comic Con International in July 2008.

One of these is the upcoming 'Knight Rider' TV Show on NBC.

The reason for this blog post is because I take exception to the number given on the 'Expect-O-Meter Rating'  seen in the USA Today Weekend Edition.

The author of that article ranked this show very low with a '1' out of a possible '10' for expectations because NBC has only shown the earlier TV Movie, and teaser ads during the Olympics.

However, I saw the program and the trailer and the audience's great reaction to it at the Comic Con. The enthusiasm from the cast and from the new producer that was brought in was also very high and 'real'.

Actor Justin Bruening is the new Knight Rider, and his former girlfriend and new love interest is played by Deanna Russo.

What got me excited about the new TV Show is that the trailer that was shown is  much more promising than the origin story of the TV movie. There is a 'team' now backing up Knight Rider and KITT, not just a duo act!

Gary Scott Thompson, one of the new producers, was brought in after the TV Film was made, and I like his new vision for where the series is going.

However, the show is up against another show that we watch, 'Pushing Daisies' Wednesday nights at 8 PM, so one of these two shows will have to be taped to be viewed later!

So, with a new vision for the TV Show versus what was aired in the TV Movie, I am giving it an '7.75' on my expectation meter!

So, time will tell how the show fares... the show is up against 'Pushing Daisies', 'Bones', and 'New Adventures of Old Christine' among others.

BTW, we don't have a TV Station here, but we do have an ongoing Comic Con  and Pop Culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!
