Greatest American Hero At SD Comic Con!
Mood:  caffeinated
Topic: Comic Cons

'Greatest American Hero'

 Program

At The 2008 SDCC Comic Con International!

I walked into the program on the Greatest American Hero already in progress. (It takes a while to go from one end of Convention Center to the other!)

Being that I was by myself, it was easy enough to get a single seat up close
to the panel on the stage at the San Diego Comic Con International.

I was totally blown away when I saw who was there! I was expecting only those that
were involved in the production of the comic book.

One of my favorite actresses, Connie Selleca was there! She and Robert Culp, who
was the other actor of the main three on the TV Show were there with William Katt!

Since Tina was going to rub it in that she was seeing Jennifer Connelly at the same time
this program was being held, I was very pleased to see Connie Selleca in person!

Of course the fans in the audience weren't going to give William Katt the whole program
to promote his new comic book series.

A few of the questions asked about the TV Show were:

"What killed the show?" - Answer, "Greatest American Hero was put against Dallas for
5 weeks!".

A young kid asked Katt if he had one of the original GAH suits? William said no, and was
amazed when Connie said she had one!!

Why was his name changed to 'Mister H'?  William said his role's civilian i.d. was David Hinckley until President
Reagan was shot. Then he ended up being called 'Mister H'...

(continued top of next column...)

(continued from bottom of first column...) Why was the special panel held this day? There are 6 issues planned for the Greatest American Hero
comic book series. The series will be published by Catastrophic Comics.

Connie said she and
Robert Culp were there to 'help Billy' promote his comics!

The series has the blessings of Stephen J Cannell who created and produced the series!

Thanks for reading this post today and please join us again for more!

Noel Neill 'Lois Lane' At The SD Comic Con!
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: Comic Cons

Noel Neill

'Lois Lane'

At The 2008 SDCC Comic Con International!

I had the pleasure of seeing Noel Neill at the last San Diego Comic Con International
in July 2008.

The following are some excerpts from notes that I took in between taking photographs
of her at the panel where she was the special guest.

Noel started her career singing at the Del Mar Racetrack in SoCal, which Bing Crosby
then owned!

Noel did 15 serials with Kirk Alyn. Those lasted a week or two to film.

After Noel's agent first contacted her that she would be Lois Lane, she went to a store and bought
a comic book to find out more about her role. "Comics were for boys" she said!

Noel never met Phyllis Coates, the other Lois Lane during the same time period!

Kellogg's advertised on the show so they had to keep the show 'clean'.

Noel started playing Lois Lane in the Adventures of Superman in the second season. The
director was a little rough on her. George Reeves spoke to the director and then everything
clicked!

The scripts were all the same she said, "Only the names of the heavies were different!".

Noel has been doing conventions and programs for several years. She did the college shows
in the 1970's. Questions at that time were 'no holds barred'. She mentioned that she was asked
"Did you and George 'do it'!" She said no. He was so nice and so good.

Noel was shocked that Lois Lane had a baby and no husband  in the recent Superman movie that she
had a cameo in.

That brought up the subject of the film 'Hollywoodland'. Noel explained that she did not feel that
film gave an accurate account of George's life. The characters shown in the film were all dead. Since
she and Jack Larson were not dead, they were not used in the film, and the film's production
did what they wanted to do in showing George's life in the way that they did.

An ending question was asked, "How was it working with Kirk Alyn vs George Reeves?" Noel answered
"Kirk Alyn was a dancer, ballet dancer in New York. He wasn't as talented as George but a quick learner."

(continued from bottom of left column...)   Noel, who is very tiny in stature, commanded the program stage with her presence. It was a pleasure
to finally hear her talk in person. I came away with a better understanding of her and will enjoy my
viewing of the Adventures of Superman even more when I catch an episode now!

Who's 'Hot' In Our Archived Blog Posts Tonight?

It's Laura Vandervoort,

Who Is On The Cover Of The New DVD - Season 7 Of Smallville

Even ThoughThe DVD Was Released September 9th!

Again tonight I saw a significant increase in viewership of our archived blog posts on Laura Vandervoort...

Which isn't such a big deal for us, as she is usually in the Top 20 of archived blog posts!  However, she is causing 15% of our blog readership right now to be #1!

That would be even heavier activity than on September 9th when "her" new DVD that was released!

Well actually, it's the Season 7 DVD of the TV Series 'Smallville', which IMHO the producers should have never let Laura go for Season 8!

At least evidenced by Laura's ongoing Top 20 archived blog posts with our small niche blog!

So congrats to Laura for making a lasting impression on her Smallville Fans!

BTW, the MSRP on the DVD is $59.98, but you can definitely get it for less!

Have Sum Fun locating a copy for yourself!

BTW, we don't have a TV Station here, but we do have an ongoing Comic Con  and Pop Culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Thanks for reading this post today and please join us again!

A Little Background....
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: Comic Cons

A Little Background.....

On myself, as I have taken eBay's suggestion and joined Facebook and started invitations to 'Facebook Friends'!

This blog post is for those that are new to me / us, as I have blogged it before, but the indexing / search mode on both of our blogs, (we publish two blogs), lack ease of searchability!

It Was Thirty-Five Years Ago This Summer.... August 16-19th 1973,  that I 'officially' set up as a dealer at the San Diego Comic Con International then known as the SDCC!

I can still remember setting up that dealer table I'm standing behind as shown in the 2nd from the top right photo!

It was at the Sheraton Hotel, Harbor Island, San Diego for the 4th official SDCC Comic Con !

It was my 3rd San Diego Comic Con I had attended, and the second one that I had set up at with a 'dealer' table! The first one I had bought out another dealer on the last day at the El Cortez Hotel and took over his table to see what it was like!

This is the earliest photo that I have of me setting up at a Comic Con  and am very pleased to have it published on several of our web sites' pages!

Currently Tina and I don't set up at Comic Cons to sell, but rather we attend them to pick up additional inventory to sell online as well as to attend programs that she or I have interest in! Then we blog about our thoughts on the upcoming films, TV shows or comic books here!

How the comics world has changed from 35 years ago!

Be sure to attend a Comic Con in your area to see what you are missing if you can't make the San Diego Con with over 125,000 other attendees next year! Plus buy your memberships online early as they sold out this year for all 4 day and single day memberships. (End of plug, LOL!)

For those of you that are new to our blog, we have an ongoing comics and pop culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books - Comic Cons blog post and come back again!

Yes, that's Michael D Hamersky back in the Summer of 1973 at the SDCC Comic Con with almost shoulder length long hair and a skinny stomach! Oh and a few hundred comics on top of the dealer table still left to sell!  Funny how so many of those comic books in the photo are worth so much more today than they were worth back then!

Captain..... EUReKA ?
Mood:  quizzical
Topic: TV Shows

Captain.....

 "EUReKA"

Since we watched the premiere of the 'Fringe' TV Show on this past Tuesday night, we had to tape this week's episode of 'EUReKA' that was scheduled at the same time!

So last night Tina and I watched this episode together...

When the guy in the cape and the costume showed up early in the episode, Tina turned to me and said "you're blogging this one!".

Suffice to say the guy in the cape and costume soon earned the name "Captain EUReKA" by Lexxie Carter, who the "superhero" kept showing up to save!

Sheriff Carter figured out the connection between Lexxie and the troublesome superhero when he verbalized that Superman would save Lois Lane, and that Spider-Man would save... well he had a problem on Spidey's girlfriend's name, but leave it Fargo to correct the Sheriff by saying 'Mary Jane'!

This episode was well written IMHO, tied together several of the episode's subplots, and ended nicely with the beginning scene for the next episode, where we start to see why Eva Thorne has been searching for whatever she was searching for!

If you aren't watching this show yet, and like our reviews of this and other shows that we watch and blog about, then I would suggest renting the first 2 Seasons of this show on DVD first.

Then you could get caught up online for Season 3 on the SciFi Channel dot com, as we are halfway through this Season now!

Wellllll.... not really but it makes a great caption for the photo above, doesn't it??
