WARREN'S MAGAZINE EERIE # 136 Had A Special Model For It's Starlad Cover! One of the fun things about blogging is the being able to share experiences that my wife or I come across in our pop culture activities.... For those that are new to us, we run a few websites, as well as having an online store that buys and sells comics, graphic novels, magazines that are part of 'pop culture'. I waited a while to blog about the following, because our buyer was getting the magazine as a 'gag gift' for their friend's birthday. The "friend" turned out to be Bill DuBay, whose father is William Bryan 'Bill' DuBay, the famous comic book writer, artist and editor! Our buyer had seen the original artwork to the cover of Eeerie #136. She stated in an email to us: "I have seen the actual front art Starlad cover, which is a huge original painting hanging on the wall, and sure enough... the boy on the front cover is Bill jr. as a kid.". So this buyer was comparing our listing for the magazine to another listing she was also looking at. She didn't know how comics / magazines were graded and emailed us first with her question: "Your comic states an "8", as the other guy states his comic "very good".... what is the difference? What does "very fine" mean in the comic book world." Well, I answered her question on comics grading, and she followed up with another question, and then she bought the magazine from us after emailing us this: "Thank you very much for your fast reply, and your informative info on the comic grading scale. So, I would gather that yours is a very nice copy to own... which would make for a nice gift....smile.". Thanks for reading this blog post today, and please join us again! Note: If you are involved in comics, and have an upcoming comic book, graphic novel or other release or are holding an upcoming convention that may be of interest to us and / or our blog readers, feel free to email us! | Above is a photo of the cover Of Jim Warren's Eerie Magazine #136, the subject of this blog post.
