Q & A With Kim Deitch November 13th, 2008!
This will be the final event associated with the currently running "Kim Deitch: A Retrospective" at MoCCA! (I have previously blogged about a special Cartoon Night at this Museum with Kim's personal collection of cartoons, Click Here, but this is a different event!) Kim Deitch will appear at MoCCA for a special Q & A session with the exhibit's curator Bill Kartalopoulos. You won't want to miss this wide-ranging conversation, as the two will discuss Deitch’s work and career to date. Deitch will also preview images from his current works in progress and field questions from the audience. Forty years later, he stands alongside Crumb, Bill Griffith, Aline Kominsky-Crumb, and Art Spiegelman as one the most notable and prolific artists to emerge from that milieu. Kim Deitch: A Retrospective features ninety-seven pieces spanning the artist’s entire career, including comics originals, preparatory sketches, prints, and animation cel set-ups. The evening is in addition to the special exhibition featuring Kim Deitch's work that is running from September 9th to December 5th, 2008. Tina and I were able to see this Museum briefly on our last trip to the area. Trust me on this one... there is so much to see, that you will want to allocate more time to see this Museum, even if you can't stop in on this special evening! For those of you that are new to our blog today, we also have an ongoing 'Comics Con and Pop Culture Show' ourselves here at "Make It So Marketing Inc.", what with our daily blog posts and new listings of items for sale in our online store! Thanks for reading this blog post today, and please join us again for more! ~ Michael
