| | The Art Of Harvey Comics Exhibition At MoCCA! Exhibition dates: December 18, 2008 - March 15, 2009! |
With An Opening Reception:
January 14th, 2009!
I have to admit... a fondness for the Harvey cartoons and comics that were produced during the 1950's - early 1960's!
After all, those Harvey Comics and the Dell FC Comics were among the ones I first started receiving as gifts growing up as a young child in the mid 1950's and learning how to read!
So when I was informed about the above running program at MoCCA, I just had to blog about it!
This exhibition is being shown at The Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art - MoCCA! - It is a visual history of one of the most popular comic book publishers of all time, Harvey Comics!
The Title Of the Exhibition is:
'From Richie Rich to Wendy the Witch: The Art of Harvey Comics' - "which celebrates the art and characters created and/or popularized by Harvey, including Casper, The Friendly Ghost; Wendy, The Good Little Witch; Richie Rich, The Poor Little Rich Boy; Hot Stuff, The Little Devil; Sad Sack; Joe Palooka; Little Dot; Little Audrey; Little Lotta; Little Max; and many more."
I have not yet seen this exhibition, which started on the West Coast in the Bay Area. However I have been to MoCCA and viewing their other collections alone are more than worth the price of admission!
Those that are lucky enough to see this exhibition will view original art from Harvey comic books and merchandise by stalwarts such as Ernie Colón, Sid Couchey, Warren Kremer and Howard Post! 'From Richie Rich to Wendy the Witch: The Art of Harvey Comics' was originated at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco, California and was curated by Andrew Fargo.
For the MoCCA presentation, additional curation was by MoCCA Chairman Ellen S. Abramowitz and Director Karl Erickson. MoCCA also gave special thanks to Mark Arnold.
