Imagine Thor, Loki, Balder and The Other Norse Gods In Their Elementary School Days...

That's BRAT-HALLA!

This WebComic Has Been Running Since December 2003!

Click here to see our current listings of CARTOON Graphic Novels, Comics, Magazines, and other Pop Culture Items for Sale!

Anthony Lee... (pictured to the left), informed me of the web comic that he is coloring that I wanted to share with my blog readers!

So what is this web comic about?

"Brat-halla is a webcomic about the Norse gods from their elementary school days. All-Father Odin and Frigg constantly have their hands full with Thor (the super strong runt of the litter), Loki (the god of mischief who likes to play with dolls), Balder (the invulnerable pretty boy), Hod (the blind god of darkness and winter), Hermod (the hyper super speedster god), and all the rest of the Norse pantheon."

I have blogged before about my fondness for Thor... ever since I found doing my genealogy that my surname has Viking roots. Originally my surname was Hamerski, but was 'Germanized' in the USA to Hamersky because my earliest immigrant ancestor arrived in 1866 from West Prussia and lived with Germans in Minnesota. The surname had been taken from the village of Hamer in Poland with a minor noble adding the 'ski'. Where did 'Hamer' come from? Click Here for the rest of that story!

Enough about me... There is a new interest in all things Thor right now, because of the Marvel Film that is in pre-production at this time.

This webcomic is not the Marvel Comics version... Instead it is the creation of writer Jeffery Stevenson, whose love of mythology gave birth to this webcomic.  Seth Damoose is the artist.  Anthony 'Tony' Lee is the colorist.

So if you are a fan of Norse mythology... and can imagine young Norse gods in the classroom... in the school cafeteria... at recess... and getting in trouble after school, then this webcomic is for you!  As the creators of this web comic say it's "All free... all the time.... every Wednesday and Friday"!

Main story: Wednesdays

Hod's Comic: Fridays

Brat-Halla is just one of the current projects that my Facebook Friend Anthony Lee is working on.  In a future post I'll mention his latest venture. In the meantime you can check out his fan page if you are a Facebook member at:

Frankensteinia... Which I first came across after becoming Facebook Friends with Pierre.

I have blogged about James Warren, Forrest Ackerman, and others recently, so my blog readers will know that I have interest in this genre of fiction, both in print and film.

However, Pierre's Blog is so much more in depth on his topic, and well worth reading if you are into Frankenstein films, photos, books, etc. It truly is 'Frankensteinia' to the max!  The top left photo of this blog post comes from his Blog and features Forrest Ackerman and Basil Gogos going over Basil's painting for Famous Monsters #57!

In The Phantom Comic Strip

Created By Lee Falk From King Features!

Paul Ryan... mentioned on his Facebook Status on Monday, February 9th, 2009, that he was "Starting A New Phantom Sunday Story... "The Love Triangle!", which reminded me that I hadn't yet blogged about Paul's comic strip work for King Features.

If your local newspaper, like mine, doesn't carry 'The Phantom' strip, you might want to write them and ask them to carry it!

If they won't, then you can still check out the online version at:

www.kingfeatures.com/features/comics/phantom/about.htm

Paul's Phantom is actually the 21st Phantom in the succession of the Phantom Legend.  This current Phantom "and Diana Palmer were wed in 1977, and today their scrappy young son, Kit, is in training to someday take the sacred "Oath of the Skull" and become the 22nd Phantom"!

At the top left of this blog post is Paul's pencil cover art for "The Ossuary!" which is an issue of 'Fantomen' to be published by Egmont in Sweden.  It is a actually a reprint of Paul's first Sunday strip story for King Features "The Phantom".

Paul Ryan also had a long run on the 'Fantastic Four' comic book series for Marvel Comics that I enjoyed. The FF were going through some changes during that time period with Tom DeFalco writing and Paul illustrating the stories.

Sue (Storm) Richards was becoming leader of the group at that time, and still had part of the character 'Malice' in her innermost being.  There was some controversy about the Invisible Woman's costume at the time, but I enjoyed the issues that Tom and Paul collaborated on during that run!

I was fortunate a few years later to meet Paul at a SDCC and have him autograph a few issues for me for my personal collection.  Thanks Paul!

This was at the 2001 SDCC where he and John Buscema were on a panel together, along with others. This is the main reason I personally go to Cons, to see and hear comic book greats talk about their experiences during their career. If you haven't been to a Comic Con yet... check one out near you!

Again, winding down this morning's blog post, I suggest you take a look at Paul's work on 'The Phantom' comic strip, whether it be in your newspaper or online!

Happy Birthday To Sarah Lancaster!

One Of The Best Actors On The 'CHUCK' TV Series!

Click Here to see our newly listed Comics, Graphic Novels, Books and other listings for sale Including CHUCK COMICS!

February 12th is Sarah's Birthday!

Sarah Lancaster... first really got my attention by her playing the role of Chuck's sister, Ellie, on the NBC TV Show 'CHUCK', (which is also a comic book series BTW!).

When Tina and I were blogging a lot more on TV Shows before the WGA Strike affected our viewing AND blogging habits; we would blog about CHUCK episodes and comment on how the cast seemed to be a great match.  Sarah is just one of those actors that just fits perfectly in her role on this show IMHO!

Before Sarah starred on CHUCK, she was cast in regular roles on other TV Shows...

Those included her roles: as Rachel in Saved by the Bell: The New Class, and also Madison Kellner on Everwood. Sarah also had a recurring guest role on NBC's Scrubs as JD's love-interest, Lisa the Gift-Shop Girl.  Sarah also played Marjorie in ABC's TV series What About Brian.

Additionally Sarah has had multiple guest-starring roles in other TV shows such as CSI, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Dawson's Creek, and Scrubs... to name just a few.

This blog post is to wish that very busy lady Sarah Lancaster...

A Happy Birthday!
