TODAY'S FEATURE IS BLOG #3747 - Okay... Just to let you know that even though Tina and I both drove back on Saturday, November 17th from our vacation in Sedona, Arizona... That I still was able to take in most of the 3rd Annual So Cal Comic Con in Oceanside, California, on Sunday the 18th! Pics from that day are shown above at the right, and also in this special photo album at my Facebook Fan Page, Michael D Hamersky On Comics. I've attended all three of the three annual cons now. The first two were also in Oceanside, and were blogged about in blog #3274 and blog #3495 . This con was set up at 1938 Avenida del Oro, Oceanside, California 92056 - At the QLN Conference Center, which was a more hospitable location for an event of this size. There was a line already to get in at 10am on Sunday, which was a good sign. The line went very fast, and the first 100 attendees received goodie bags. Going to the right as you entered the exhibit hall, were the items that were being raffled off at noon, 2Pm and 3:30 pm. The hall was laid out pretty good and I proceeded to go to the far end of the hall and work back to the front. The amount of dealers there were pretty good, mostly comic book dealers, but also some toy dealers. There were also guest artists, who basically were the participants of one of the double rolls of aisles. There were no panels at this con, just like the earlier two cons. However, and I got this from one of the two co-founders of this con, Rey Reyes, that the event center has extra rooms for panels for next year...! I found the amount of comics there to be of interest to me, with many Silver, Bronze, and Modern Ages comics to be found. I'll be listing some of those at my own online comic book shop in the next couple of weeks. The floor was full in the morning, and after the Guest of Honor, Marc Silvestri, arrived, his area was crowded with those wanting his signature. All in all, a pretty good comic book show, in my opinion. I'm looking forward to some panels to be given at the 2013 So Cal Comic Con!
