TODAY'S FEATURE IS BLOG #3967 - I'm posting this blog this morning to post the links to special pages from the 2013 San Diego Comic Fest! My youngest son and I spent the full three days & two nights at the 2nd year of this new comic con, and came away tired & happy! The last panel that we saw was the 'Feedback' panel, where audience members told the Comic Fest's organizers what they liked, didn't like, and what they would like to see for the next year. One of the main 'Likes' was the programming. I gotta agree with that! We spent a lot of time in panels, and could have just set through panels all day on Sunday, they were that good! Anyways, I want to post the links that I think you should see, whether or not you attended the 2013 San Diego Comic Fest. They are: Friday photos taken by Vinnie & me Saturday photos Part 1 Saturday photos Part 2 Sunday photos Videos to be uploaded to my YouTube Channel as time permits I also uploaded individual photos from the panels, Dealers Room, Artist Alley, Draco Tavern, etc., at the Facebook Fan Page as the events were happening. Here is that link. As for my thoughts for the 2nd Annual San Diego Comic Fest: Parking - Great prices for parking... Only $4 for the day! Can't hardly beat that price! Registration - Easy access to the Ascot Room to pick up your badges, whether all 3 days or single days. Good job to the volunteers that handled that necessary function! Artist Alley - This event moved this year to where the Art Show had been the first year. Really good choice in moving it there! Even more Artists were there during the 3 day event. Congrats to Beata for handling this function! Draco Tavern - Outstanding decorations, and very reasonably priced food! We ate there all 3 days! Plus thanks to Will Lund and his troupe who performed 4 times a day from Larry Niven's book, the Draco Tavern! Congrats to Wendy All for setting this up! Dealers Room - Lots of good deals, with several returning dealers from the first year! Programming - Already mentioned, but man, this was a good block of programming, and for all three days! Masked Ball - We didn't stay for it all, but there was a good attendance at this, and everyone there seemed to be having fun! Parties - Good parties at the Pool, and at Draco Tavern! Now this comic convention is what was really good about the early days of the San Diego Comic Con! I won't give this convention a comic book grade like I normally do after attending a comic con, as I'm on the organizing committee, but I gotta admit... I had a lot of fun! And so did my youngest son, Vinnie! The San Diego Comic Fest's third year will be at the same location, but later in October, on the 17th thru 19th. Be sure to block out those dates on your 2014 calendar! ~ Michael
