Secrets Behind The Comics! For Only $1.00 !

 Which Was The Cover Price...

...Of Stan Lee's booklet when it was first printed in 1947!

Back then, Stan came up with the idea of selling the behind the scenes story of what it took to create, print, and publish a comic book.

And he should have known, as he had been involved in comics by then for about six years!

The booklet was published by Famous Enterprises, Inc., in a paperback edition, and today can be found for sale at times around $150.00... there is a 'signed' copy for sale at $300.00 currently on eBay!

There was a reprint edition of this booklet:

'Secrets Behind the Comics' (Limited Edition)
by Stan Lee, with Ken Dale (illustrator). Published by Marvel Limited in 1994. Currently OOP.. Out of Print. First print was a LIMITED edition (700 copies) of the 1947 edition. This reprint had a silver embossed cover. With 100 pages. It was a Hard Cover Black and White 6" x 9" (15cm x 23cm) with a Dust Jacket.

Note: There is a different colored cover for sale currently on eBay for $120.00!

George Tuska's 92nd Birthday!

George Tuska's 92nd Birthday!

Right now the upcoming Iron Man Theatrical Film is making all the news!

However, we want to wish a Happy Birthday to George Tuska on his 92nd Birthday!

George was born April 26, 1916 in Hartford Connecticut.

He started drawing in comics back in 1939 when he assisted on the comic strip 'Scorchy Smith'.

George also worked in the comic shop of Eisner and Iger during what is now called the 'Golden Age of Comics'!

His tie-in to 'Iron Man' is that he drew the comic book for most of the Iron Man issues from 1968 to 1978, about TEN YEARS! They were issues #5 to #106 with a few interruptions.

He's also known for his Luke Cage Power Man, Black Goliath, the Sub-Mariner, Planet of the Apes, and a few X-Men stories.

Our thanks for his great work and his adding on to comic books lore especially on Iron Man!

For those of you new to us, we have an ongoing pop culture - comics convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Not The Sub-Mariner But...

 The OTHER Man From Atlantis!

Marvel Comics' Sub-Mariner has a movie in developement.

However there was another 'Man from Atlantis' that made it to the small screen at one time!

'The Man From Atlantis' was a TV Movie, A TV Series and a Comic Book Series!

The comic book series was a very short comic book series from Marvel Comics of all things!

It ran from February 1978 to August 1978 with only 7 issues!

The comic book series was based on the TV Movies and TV Show that starred Patrick Duffy as the Man From Atlantis!

The TV Movies were four in number before NBC gave the go-ahead for the actual series for the 1977-78 season!

Unfortunately for Sci-Fi fans the TV Show only ran 17 epsiodes.

Fortunately for Patrick Duffy he immediately went to CBS' TV Show 'Dallas' that had a very long run!

The Thunder God!

The Thunder God!

I noticed some activity in our archived blog posts that featured the Marvel Comics version of the Norse God Thor.

So I pulled out some more of our backstock of Thor comics and listed them today!

Journey Into Mystery #83 Is Where The Mighty Thor's Series Started for Marvel Comics back in 1962 as Marvel's distribution was limited to a certain amount of titles per month!

Journey Into Mystery #1 was published in June of 1952, and ended with issue #125 in February 1966.

The title was changed to 'Mighty Thor' with issue #126 as super-heroes had taken over all of the HoRRoR / MoNSTer books published by Marvel!  (Tales To Astonish, Tales of Suspense, Strange Tales, Journey Into Mystery.)

Mighty Thor went on for several more decades for Marvel before ending its long run and started over with a new #1 issue.

For back issues of The Mighty Thor or Journey Into Mystery where his first exploits were published.... just click on the top right picture to see our listings!

So Who's

'Hot'

In Our Archived Blog Posts This Morning?

None Other Than...

Carolyn Jones

Once AGAIN!

Regular Readers of our Blog know that I check our Blog Stats daily!

This morning once again it is Carolyn Jones time to be 'Hot' because this morning her archived blog post of 06-02-07 is reaching 13% of our blog viewership right now!

That is soo unbelievable to me! Of 2,500 archived blog posts that is the 'Hottest' Topic?  And she was  'Hot'  earlier this week also! I really wonder what is going on to make that blog so popular today and earlier this week??!!

Carolyn passed away several years ago, but not before she played:

The Mother of Wonder Woman, Morticia Adams  of 'The Adams Family, The love interest in Elvis Presley's 'King Creole' and 'Marsha Queen of Diamonds' in the 1960's Batman TV Show among other things!

For those new to us... we have ongoing pop culture - comics convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post and come back to visit us again!
