The Sisterhood:

"Morningstar"

An Online Preview Of The Upcoming Comic Book!

By Steve Tanner & Dan Barritt !

Click Here to see our current listed Comics, Books, and Graphic Novels!   Steve Tanner sent me the link to his upcoming comic book preview.  Along with Dan Barritt, the artist for this project, Steve has a storyline that I found interesting enough for me to want to come back for more, when it is distributed in hard copy this upcoming May!

Steve is from the UK, which reminds me that I should mention the following:  Our blog has been reaching a more global readership, and I find that several creators  / agents are either adding us to their press releases; or inviting us to join their Facebook Group.

It is of course easier for me to read the graphic novels, comics, illustrated stories, press releases, etc.,  that are published in the English language, but I do use online translation software to read non-English online works. It just takes me longer to do so!

So, back to the topic now...  Steve Tanner of Time Bomb Comics, which is based in the United Kingdom, has a one-shot publication that is launching at the Bristol SPExpo in May 2009.

He invites our blog readers to "Join the Venerated Sisters of the Seventy-Seventh Cloister in their never-ending battle aginst the sinners of the galaxy!"

Steve also says that "This is our first full-colour book and (it) will be launching at the Bristol SPExpo in May. In the meantime please check out the preview and let us know what you think."

For those that don't know... Time Bomb Comics is a British comics company based in Leicester, England, UK. It was formed in September 2007 to showcase the work of talented writers and artists that are currently working outside the mainstream comics industry.

Steve has the following tag line on most of his web pages:

"Time Bomb Comics is about one simple thing - Telling Great Stories."

The preview that you can view online is a ten page preview only. But enough of the storyline and art is there that I could see that it had good potential to entice me to come back for the rest when it is published...

The preview itself can be viewed at:

www.myebook.com/index.php?option=ebook&id=4074

After viewing the preview, and you find yourself interested in knowing more about this work and other works from Time Bomb Comics, you are welcome to join their Facebook group if you are a Facebook member at:

www.new.facebook.com/profile.php?id=692996776#/group.php?gid=22014075509

For myself, I know that I will make the attempt to continue reading this story, although it is a UK comic book, which might make a little harder to obtain in the States...

I have joined the Time Bomb Comics FaceBook Group to be reminded about the status of the comic, and the company's other comics that are in process.  Should you enjoy the comic book preview online, I would suggest doing the same!

(Please Note: A complimentary hard copy for this mention / review was not provided by the creator as it is in online format only at this time.)

"Being Gordy"

At The 2009 New York Comic Con!

Click here to see our current listings of COMIC CON Pop Culture Items!

The NYCC Runs February 6th, 7th & 8th, 2009!

Click Here to see all of our newly listed items for sale!  Dave Gordon... Says that he doesn't have a table for the upcoming NYCC event, but he, (left in photo), and writing partner Mark Derwin (right in photo), will be "hitting the floor with both barrels loaded in promotion of 'Being Gordy', their upcoming Graphic Novel!

I 'met' Dave via Facebook where Dave has a 'Being Gordy' group page. Between that group page and their own web site, they are averaging 500 hits a week, and 50-70 entries per week in their caption-writing contest on Facebook.

Dave just told me yesterday that he was "lucky enough to meet Greg Adams on Facebook some time ago. He specializes as an inker of comics, and has worked on everything from Superman to Spiderman. Recently, he did me the honor of inking a Being Gordy promo piece that is this week's main on on the BG site, in promotion of NY Comic Con".   That promo piece is shown above. Be sure to check out its' incorporation into Dave & Mark's special NYCC 2009 promo literature at the Con!

Dave says the "new preview edition to the forthcoming graphic novel is hot off the press. Anyone interested just has to track us down on the convention floor".

Additionally Dave says "We'll be uploading photos of the event shortly after the weekend is over".

For those that can't make it to the NYCC 2009, or don't see Dave or Mark at the con, here are two websites to check out:

If you are a Facebook member, be sure to join the 'Being Gordy' group page at:

www.facebook.com/pages/Being-Gordy/31608219603?ref=s

You can also check out their web site at:

www.beinggordy.com

Oh... and what exactly is 'Being Gordy'? Well Dave puts it this way:  "Think 'sitcom-as-graphic-novel'... that’s what you’ll get from Being Gordy".  Dave also says 'Being Gordy' the graphic novel will be landing on the shelf in your nearest bookstore in 2010.

Dave Gordon and Mark Derwin are just two of several creators / celebrities / exhibitors that will be at this upcoming con. I've already blogged about the following that will also be attending the NYCC:

At The 2009 New York Comic Con!

Click here to see our current listings of COMIC CON Pop Culture Items!

The NYCC Runs February 6th, 7th & 8th, 2009!

"Pigeons From Hell" Is A New TPB Release Created By Joe R Ransdale, Nathan Fox & Dave Stewart From Dark Horse!  Check The Dark Horse Booth At The NYCC For Nathan's Signing Hours!

Click Here to see all of our newly listed items for sale!  Nathan Fox... (as seen in the 3D illustration at left), last night told me that he will be signing the New TPB of "Pigeons From Hell" at this year's NYCC!

Currently his projected signing hours would be:

Friday  2:00 - 3:00   and   Sunday 12:00 - 1:00

...but Please Double Check at the Dark Horse Booth #823 for verified hours, as con schedules are subject to change!

The TPB,(Trade Paper Back), collects issues  One thru Four of the Dark Horse Comic Book Series of the same name, plus it has xtras not printed during the series original run.

For those of you that didn't read the comic book series, here is the press release from Dark Horse about the compilation in the TPB:

"Master horror storyteller Joe R. Lansdale throws his scathing wit and wild, otherworldly creations into the mix as he brings Robert E. Howard's classic tale of dark revenge to the present . . . and into the unwilling lives of the Blassenville mansion heirs, twin sisters Claire and Janet. When Griswell fled the Blassenville estate those many years ago, he couldn't have imagined the grotesque horrors that would eclipse the ones he saw then-but they're here, thanks to fiction legend Joe R. Lansdale, dazzling new comic-book artist Nathan Fox (DMZ), and multiple Eisner Award-winning color artist Dave Stewart (Conan, The Umbrella Academy). This fresh take on the classic Pigeons from Hell story delves deeper into the dark mansion's past while also digging up some fresh, imaginative demons, as Claire and Janet unknowingly bring their friends into an unearthly death trap!"

Details for the TPB are as follows:

Paperback: 120 pages
Publisher: Dark Horse (February 10, 2009)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 1595822372
ISBN-13: 978-1595822376

Please check the Dark Horse booth #823 at the Con for Nathan's signing of this TPB.  Long time blog readers of ours will know that Michael is a fan of Robert E Howard, who most of you know as the creator of Conan The Barbarian. We blogged about a great movie released in 1996 on Howard's life, starring Renee Zellweger and Vincent D'Onofrio as Robert. Click here to view that movie review blog as it was missed by many, as it was released at the same as 'The Titanic' film in 1996!

When Nathan is not at the Dark Horse booth signing, you should be able to find him at the Cadence Comic Art booth #2266, where he will be selling his art, books, and taking commissions from you!

It was his very first screenplay, Paper Dragons, that placed second in the prestigious Goldwyn awards!  With that prize money Robert purchased his first computer. So it was at this point he decided to try and make himself a career in showiz.

It took a little while, but when he sold the story For A Fistful of Datas to the series Star Trek: The Next Generation that was his breakthrough. His writing of the screenplay for that episode secured him a place in the creative staff of the series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, when that series made its debut in the following year. Since then he has gone on to write/produce episodes for The 4400, The Dresden Files, and more...

Host Jeffrey Berman’s first spec script was purchased by Brian Grazer and Ron Howard of Imagine Films. Since that time he has written feature film projects for Universal Studios, Paramount Pictures and The Walt Disney Studio, as well as several independent film companies. His most recent script, Young Robin Hood, co-written with Tony Caballero, has been optioned by Dreambig Entertainment.

In the television market, Jeffrey has co-written and sold several MOWs including The J.K Rowling bio-pic for NBC television and The Last Rainmaker for Hallmark.
