Updated Shipping Policy for MISM - Make It So Marketing
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: eBay Info

MISM's Shipping Charges Updated

As of 02-17-08

CGC Graded Comics For Sale! Welcome To Our World!
Thank YOU for reading this blog post about our shipping charges and policy update!

This is an UPDATED Shipping Policy AND Explanation of Shipping Charges as of 02-17-08, which are in effect until we are forced to change them! As of right now, USPS is planning an increase in postage costs as of May 12th, 2008, so we may have to revise our shipping charges at that time.  Until further notice via our blog or the individual listings... feel free to use this blog post as reference!

First of all, there are many different shipping solutions on eBay at this time. We don't subscribe to the thought of running auctions/fixed price/store format listings for a low price and then charge individual shipping on each and every item! We do have a minimum shipping charge, but allow our customers to add on to their first purchase in most cases to be more cost effective for them.

We COMBINE shipping where possible to save our customers on combined shipping charges. Currently we are still running the "unlimited shipping" feature for certain items and to certain locations. Please read carefully the below paragraphs that explain our shipping to charges for the items you buy and to where you want them shipped!

Also please Note:  eBay's check out program cannot handle combining our comics, magazines, dvds, toys etc together when it "invoices" you. There is a 'discount line' at the bottom of the items, shipping, insurance etc. If you can't use the 'discount line' to reflect the correct shipping amount, please let us know, and we'll be glad to send you a combined shipping invoice!

SHIPPING COST TO USA Addresses:

SHIPPING COST FOR NON-CGC COMIC BOOKS:
The FLAT RATE Shipping is for NON-CGC graded comic books only!  (NO magazines and NO CGC encapsulated graded comics!) We will ship unlimited non-CGC graded comics to USA addresses only at the special $4.99 shipping cost!  Whether you buy one or three or ten or even more comics!

SHIPPING COST FOR MAGAZINES:
We also sell Magazines, but they are odd-sized and varied in number of pages so they cannot be sent via the 'unlimited shipping' rate, sorry! We will combine shipping where we can, but please email us first for shipping cost BEFORE you click to buy multiple magazines!

SHIPPING COST FOR CGC GRADED COMICS:
CGC graded comics come in plastic holders and are shipped only via a Priority BOX so as to protect the holders.  We can place 1 to 2 CGC graded comics in the Flat Rate Priority Box for $9.99 to USA addresses only!

SHIPPING COST TO CANADA:
FLAT RATE Priority International Shipping is for NON-CGC graded comic books only!  We will ship 2 to 9 non-CGC graded comics to CANADIAN addresses only at the special $9.99 shipping cost!  Sorry, no magazines and no CGC graded comics at this rate!

If you want to buy JUST ONE NON-CGC comic, (no magazines), then the shipping cost would be $6.67 for FIRST CLASS INTERNATIONAL.

PLEASE NOTE: We will ship up to 25 single standard sized non-slabbed comics in a Flat Rate Priority Box to Canadian addresses for $25.00 USD.

For those in Canada that are interested in magazines, this will be the only way we will ship them, in a Flat Rate Priority Box for the $25.00 USD as magazines are different sizes and page counts and cannot be be figured out how to ship AFTER being purchased.  Please contact us first, as our magazines are NOT listed for shipping outside of the USA at this time. The listings would have to each be revised to allow you to purchase them individually. We will be glad to do so after we communicate with you on the costs and how many would fit in the box!

For CGC Comics - We have been hesitant to ship these internationally, but are now considering shipping them to Canadian addresses. On an individual buyer basis only. Please email us if you have interest in our CGC listings. The CGC encapsulated comics would have to be shipped via Global Priority Flat Rate Box for the $25.00 USD Shipping Charge PLUS Insurance. We can place from one to two CGC encapsulated comic(s) in each Flat Rate Box. E-mail us via eBay's email program to discuss further....

SHIPPING COST TO UNITED KINGDOM & AUSTRALIA:
FLAT RATE Priority International Shipping is for NON-CGC graded comic books only!  We will ship 1 to 9 non-CGC graded comics, (no magazines) to the UK or AU/NZ for $11.99 as that is what the Priority International Envelope will hold with cardboard insert for protection.

SHIPPING COST TO OTHER COUNTRIES:

For countries that are NOT listed above, or listed in our eBay listings, we may be able to ship to YOUR country! There are multiple reasons why we don't universally show that we ship to your country, but we encourage you to e-mail us with your question as to shipping charges for your country.

Items like comic books are relatively easy to ship via USPS Global Priority Flat Rate Envelopes, but unfortunately they don't ship everywhere via that rate yet!  And eBay doesn't separate out several countries in 'Europe', only United Kingdom and Germany from the other countries.  There are some countries that we just can't ship to because of their postal systems mishandling packages... Please e-mail with your question as to if we can ship and what the charge would be to your country!

Smoke Free Comics???

Not unless you are buying from the original owner who did not smoke and they have been stored away properly through the years.

Even then the comics will still have attracted odors!

Smoke Free Comics???

Was asked again this weekend if our comics are 'smoke free'?

My answer was and remains... Not UNLESS the seller has been the original owner of the collectible and bought it off the newstand or from the comic book store when it was first published and stored it away properly.

Last year I checked out another eBayer's comic book listings which I had found by accident.

The comics were just added as a sideline ('other items') to this seller's eBay Store and the eBayer used their usual listing template stating that their items were from a 'smoke-free home'.

That could get the eBayer seller into a situation with a buyer who believes that statement, and purchases the item(s) thinking they are smoke free.

Trust me on this one folks, paper collectibles will pick up smells during the years even if they are stored!!

As a matter of fact one of the largest comics dealers in the world that I know of, loved the distinct smell of old comics that come from the Midwest area of the USA!  He could tell what section of the country they come from!

So be careful if you are thinking of listing comics as being 'smoke free' to your other eBay sales! I keep seeing more and more comics listings where the template says 'smoke free' environment, or home, etc.

For our back issues of comics which DID NOT all come from a smoke free environment, as we are purchasers of collections as well as collectors ourselves... just click on the top left comic book cover to see our listings! And No, We don't smoke, but don't advertise as such.

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post!

Each day I check our blog stats for what archived blog posts our blog readers are viewing and it seems it goes in cycles!

Usually out of the latest 100 blog readers, 10% have viewed our 'Notorious Bettie Page' Blog Posts, and then another different four blog posts get 5% or more of the traffic each....

For the last two days our archived blog posts views have been topped by the posts on Laura Vandervoort! So she must be appearing at some convention again?!

For those that don't know, Laura was added as 'Kara Kent', Clark Kent's Kryptonian cousin, in the 7th Season of Smallville.

Laura is a 23 year old Canadian who has previously been on CSI, The Dresden Files, Instant Star and other shows prior to her Smallville appearances.

For those of you that can't make it to whatever Con she is next appearing at... We have an ongoing comic book convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and new listings of items for sale! Just click on the pic at the top left to see our listings!

Wyatt Earp....

So Many Versions!

I have to admit rembering the Hugh O'Brian version of Wyatt Earp on the TV show... yes I am that old, (baby boomer) !!

The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp was a western television series that was loosely based upon the adventures of the frontier marshal Wyatt Earp. It was a half-hour black and white series that ran on ABC-TV from 1955 to 1961 and featured Hugh O'Brian as Wyatt Earp.

Amazingly, an off-camera barbershop quartet sings the theme song and hums the catchy background music in the early episodes of this TV show!

Dell Comics printed a series of Wyatt Earp comics, after publishing three issues in the 'Four Color Comics' run. The photo covers with Hugh  is the main reason for this title's collector popularity, (see comic book cover to the top left for example). The issues ran from #4 (September 1958) thru #13 ending in December, 1960.

Growing up in the 1950's I watched a lot of westerns on TV.   I didn't get to see many western movies until the mid 1960's as they cost money and I was buying comics for my entertainment with my allowance instead.

When looking for Wyatt Earp comics based upon my nostalgia for the TV Show, I came across Wyatt Earp comics from Atlas Comics that were published from November 1955 to June 1960. They had nothing to do with the Hugh O'Brian portrayal of Earp, but this Earp version was also printed in Gunsmoke Western, also published by Atlas.   Marvel Comics, (Atlas' sucessor), reprinted some of these stories from issue #30 to 34 from 1972 - 1973.

Charlton Comics also got into the Wyatt Earp business about the same time with their Wyatt Earp, Frontier Marshall comic in January 1956. Earp's name must have been in the public domain, as they had issues #12 thru #72 which ran until December 1967.

My main interest in Wyatt Earp was the TV show and the spinoff comics. However I do enjoy the Atlas/Marvel version also.  I would not put Hugh's version up there with either Roy Rogers, or  Gene Autry, but it was a good representation of the late 1950's cowboy heroes TV Shows.

For those interested in Wyatt Earp Comics we have listed them in our eBay Featured Store .  We have many more western comic books also!

Not 'The Secret' To Life...

But The Secret of MARVEL Comics!

Outstanding Presentation by Two Masters Stan Lee and John Buscema!

The Secret of Marvel Comics Is The Artwork per Stan Lee in this DVD! The artwork must have ACTION in each panel!

This is definitely worth watching at least once if you enjoy the Marvel Universe co-created by Stan Lee and many artists including Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, Don Heck, Bill Everett, Dick Ayers and several more in the early 1960's!

I was able to meet John Buscema once at the San Diego Comic Con International, the year before he passed away. I had never seen this film or DVD before, so it was a pleasure watching Stan and
John converse together and talk to the viewer of the DVD also.

'Marvel Action' is what counts in drawing comics for Marvel Comics! And in this DVD instructional video there is plenty of it!!

The film is broken down into chapters and doesn't gloss over the art, but then again isn't too techie either, so that the casual
fan that doesn't want to be an artist would also enjoy viewing it.

A high recommendation on this DVD (and even the Book) to all that love the Marvel Universe, and want to see Stan for more than just a five minute interview. Watching John draw and explain what he does is also a highlight of this film.

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post!
