'American Idol'
TV Show on the Fox Network!
The 02-13-08 Episode
The Top 24 Chosen

Last Night's episode broadcast the action of the last day of 'Hollywood Week' on the selections for the Top 24 Contestants for Season 7!

The judges were looking for the 12 'Best' Guys and Gals on this day.
The contestants were having breakfast at 7:30 am that day, while the three judges were already pouring over the final choices. At 9:00 am the judges had 'finalized' their selections although several of each judge's favorites didn't make the cut....

After that it was time for the waiting room photos, the ride up the elevator and the looooong walk to the judges table... adding to the supposed 'suspense'.  And then the drawwwwwwn out speeches before the contestants were told if they made it or not to the Top 24.

Here are our thoughts of just those that caught our eyes  when they were brought before the judges on:

MAD About MAD ART!

The History of Mad Magazine!

The title of the book may throw you off a bit... as it has art and and a lot of articles from MAD Magazine!! It is a 50th Anniversary Tribute from sucessfull writer Mark Evanier!

I enjoy Mark Evanier's programs at the San Diego Comic Con International,(SDCC), as he goes in depth when interviewing the guest speaker(s) he has on his panels.

This book is no different!

It goes back to 1952 when MAD was a comic book, and gives in depth articles on the original MAD artists and brings you up to date circa 2002 with the latest artists.

Definitely a must reading, and for your MAD library of books if you have one started !!

Yes, We Have Signed Comic Books!

Just had a viewer check out our August 28th 2006 Blog Post where we mentioned we had just opened up a 'Signed Comics' Aisle in our eBay Featured Store, as eBay had just allocated up to 300 categories to be used in stores at that time!

We haven't mentioned for a while that our eBay Featured Store has SIGNED COMICS by some of the biggest or best names in comics.

Including Jim Steranko, Gil Kane, Brinke Stevens, Mike Manley, Stan Lee, Len Wein and others!

Most are just signed, some are personalized 'To Michael' as the signatures were obtained in person at SDCC, Wonder Con, and other smaller comic book conventions that Michael attended during the years.

Just click on the Strange Tales Comic Book Cover to the top left to see what comics we currently have listed for sale!

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post and feel free to comment below !

Because KAOS

Sure Couldn' Get

Maxwell Smart !

We read about the upcoming 6-20-08 movie in the SDCC 2007 program book at last year's Comic Con.

We even touted the program that the movie would be presented at the Con here in our blog.

However we were not able to see the program due to the highly competitive programming schedule last year.

So seeing the movie poster that we blogged about last year really gets me excited about the new movie! This could be a decent update of the original TV Series that I enjoyed!

In this updated movie, Steve Carell (as Maxwell Smart) and Anne Hathaway (as Agent 99) take over the roles originally played by Don Adams and Barbara Feldon who were perfect casting!

Steve and Anne will be joined by a cast that includes Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson (as Agent 23), Alan Arkin (as The Chief) and Terrence Stamp (as Siegfried).

The movie's plotline appears to be a familar one, it is supposed to follow the agents of CONTROL as they battle KAOS.

I am not always a fan of updated TV Shows or updated Theatrical Movies... for the most part I am usually disappointed.

However, if the Movie Poster is any indication of what the movie will be like... then the production staff is on the right track!

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post! We do have several TV and Movie Comics / Mags listed for sale. Just click on the photo cover to view all of our listings!

Michael
