Today's Feature: Blog #3287 Here's a 'Guest Blog' today by my wife, Tina LoSasso! Semantink Comics Meet Up - November 21st, 2010 I joined Michael at Semantink Comics Meet Up at the Milano Coffee House in Mission Valley on Sunday evening. As one of only two women in attendance, I felt welcomed by the rest of the group. And, while I didn't always know much about what they were talking about (apparently Spider-Man's going to die again...), they were good sports at answering my questions. Question #1: What did they think of Green Lantern being played by People's Sexiest Man Alive? I was surprised by their response. Most really liked the choice of Ryan Reynolds and didn't think that his "Sexiest" new status was a conflict for the character. Many of the guys liked him in the role. What they didn't like was the new trailer - too much CGI action, bells and whistles, and the Green Lantern outfit (especially the mask) got low votes. Question #2: Will the Zombie trend ever die and what will come next? We had a number of Walking Dead fans in attendance who are enjoying the AMC series. So, I asked the group when they thought the zombie trend might be over. (I'm hoping tomorrow!) Some observed that it was already trending down with the number of zombie-themed books launching at conventions down by about one-third since last year. I only hope that the success of Walking Dead isn't encouraging more zombies! As for what will come next, one theory was angels. What a concept replace the dark with the light. I had to laugh when I discovered how many of the guys had read "Hot Zombie Chicks," an indie comic I cited in my mini-rant on the zombie trend. (I love the title, but can't stomach the graphic images.) A whole bunch of the guys knew the book and loved it. Gross me out! It was pretty cold outside but the discussion was lively. If you're in the area, check out the next one December 19. -------------- Thanks Tina for guest blogging here today! And for attending Sunday's meetup with me!
