TODAY'S FEATURE IS (GUEST) BLOG #3961 -     I looked one more time this week at the above photo showing Cinthia Freeling as 'Princess Ann Droid' before packing it to ship to one of my eBay customers...

Cinthia played the role in the 1978 film 'Hardware Wars', which was an early parody film of the classic 'Star Wars' that was released in 1977!

I had met Cinthia (Cindy) at a Los Angeles SciFi & Comics Convention several years ago. She was very nice and a pleasure to talk with.

For those of you that haven't seen the film, or want to know more about it, I'd suggest reading the Wikipedia entry on it.

Oh, and there is also a Hardware Wars web site where you can purchase the 20th Anniversary Edition DVD!

TODAY'S FEATURE IS BLOG #3960 -     I wanted to mention that voting in the 2013 Shel Dorf Awards is going on right now...

The winners will be announced at the Detroit Fanfare on October 25th of 2013.

And No... I wasn't nominated as one of the five Comic Bloggers of the Year this year to vote for...!

Michael D Hamersky On Comics Mentions That...   The 2013 Long Beach Comic Con Runs November 23rd thru 24th!

TODAY'S FEATURE IS BLOG #3959 -     Yesterday I mentioned a comic convention that is happening in Europe, (Malta Comic Con).

Today I'm mentioning that the 5th Annual Long Beach Comic Con will be running November 23rd thru 24th in Long Beach, California!

I've attended all the previous 4 LBCCs plus the 4 LBCC Expos that take place earlier each year.

This comic con reminds of what the San Diego Comic Con used to be before Hollywood invaded it!   It is that good!

So, I'm suggesting that you mark your calendars for this 2013 LBCC!

Michael D Hamersky On Comics   The 2013 Malta Comic Con

TODAY'S FEATURE IS BLOG #3958 -     I just received another email from the folks at the Malta Comic Con, telling me of their latest guests that will be appearing.

This will be the 5th year for this comics convention.

You may be thinking... Where's Malta?   And why would they have a comic convention?

Well... Here is where Malta is located at.

Here is the history of Malta.

As to why they have a comic con...  Well, comic cons are now worldwide!

I have watched this convention expand over the last few years, and was amazed at the guests that this con has had in the past.

If you are going to Europe in the near future, you might want to time it with the Malta Comic Con, which runs November 30th to December 1st of 2013.

Michael D Hamersky On Comics Presents His Take On...   Viva Comics!   The Opening Reception that took place on September 21st!     TODAY'S FEATURE IS BLOG #3957 -     Last night, Tina, Vinnie & myself attended the event in San Diego called 'Viva Comics!'.   It was hosted by cartoonist Batton Lash, at the Artlab Studios location in Normal Heights.   So what was this all about?   Here's what 'Scoop' said in their online article:   "Viva Comics! is a new comics art show opening Saturday, September 21, 2013, in advance of this year’s second annual San Diego Comic Fest, which will be held October 4-5. The show is a follow-up to last year's successful Unmasked! exhibit of comic art, and it celebrates the local comic book and fantasy artists in San Diego. Curated by writer-aritst Batton Lash (Wolff & Byrd: Counselors of the Macabre) at Artlab Studios, the show’s opening reception is Saturday and it then runs through October 3. Artists featured in the show will also be at Comic Fest."   Okay... So  you get what this event was about.  Plus you see that the show runs until October 3rd.  So you still have time to see it!   Tina, Vinnie, and myself really enjoyed ourselves at this special reception.  Thanks to Batton Lash for sending us an 'invite' to it!   Also...
