Michael D Hamersky On Comics Mentions That...    He Is A... Yellow Shooting Star!   As of October 21st of 2013!    TODAY'S FEATURE IS BLOG #3975 -      I woke up this morning to check my email and to continue working on the changes that are currently going on in my personal life...   Yesterday I uploaded the new logo for my ComicBooksCircus.com web site, which is actually the 'New' account name for my eBay store. My thanks to Joe Pepitone (JoepeP!) for designing the new logo for me!    Anyways, I've had an eBay account since January 20th of 1999, and started selling part time shortly after that.     So it is nice to be recognized by eBay on receiving feedback from my 10,000th customer!    (BTW, the total number of positive feedbacks is 18,458 as of right now this morning!)   The eBay store is on 'vacation' right now, but will emerge online again shortly after November starts.  I'll be having a Grand Re-Opening at that time!

Michael D Hamersky On Comics Presents His Take On...   The 2013 So Cal Comic Con!   That Took Place On Sunday, October 20th!     TODAY'S FEATURE IS BLOG #3974    Yesterday, my youngest son and I attended the 2013 So Cal Comic Con.   This was the 4th Annual Convention for So Cal.  I've attended all four of them now.  Even sat up as a dealer at the 2nd Annual Show.   Vinnie & I were the among the first 100 attendees in line, so we received free bags of swag.   In addition there were a few comic book publishers in attendance, such as Rafael Navarro and Mike Wellman seen at the right.     There were many comic book dealers, and this in fact would be considered a comic book 'show', as there were no panels or programs.   Guests of Honor were Clayton Crain plus Ren & Stimpy creator John Kricfalusi.   Rey Reyes & Joel Elad put on a succesful 4th Annual So Cal Comic Con in my opinion.   You should check out their Facebook Fan Page for others opinions.   You can see the rest of the photos that Vinnie and I took at the special photo album at my own Facebook Fan Page.   ~Michael     The Flyer for the 2013 So Cal Comic Con!    The Comic Con took place at the QLN Center in Oceanside.  Here's the line when Vinnie & I arrived!   Vinnie and I were the 97th & 98th in line... The first 100 attendees received free bags of swag from the above helpers!   Several persons exhibiting at the So Cal Comic Con were people I knew... Here's Rafael Navarro with his & Mike Wellman's Guns A' Blazin' comic!

Michael D Hamersky On Comics Presents His Take On...   Early Origins of  Early Comic Book Strips - with Bob Beerbohm!   At the 2013 San Diego Comic Fest, Friday October 4th!     TODAY'S FEATURE IS BLOG #3973 -     Earlier this month, at the 2013 San Diego Comic Fest... There was a special panel titled: 'Early Origins of Early Comic Book Strips'.   The panel was written up in the Comic Fest program guide as follows:   12:15pm – 1:15pm: Early Origins of Early American Comic Book Strips- Early Origins of Early American Comic Strip Books Renowned comics historian Bob Beerbohm traces the origins of the comic book, from 1842 through 1933, focusing mainly on the pre-Yellow Kid period. His presentation – illustrated comics material you will see for the first time – will include the first comic book in America from 1842; the first ‘original’ home grown American comic book dating 1849; further examples of original USA comic strips and books from the 1850s tracing through to the advent of the Yellow Kid in the mid 1890s on to the explosion of full color comic books in the years before World War One when newspapers harnessed the power of comic strips to sell their product. Myriad formats competed back then as these were collected. And he will just scratch the surface during his hour-long presentation.   My youngest son, Vinnie, and I attended this panel. Michael D Hamersky On Comics Presents His Take On... One On One With Russ Heath! At the 2013 San Diego Comic Fest, Saturday October 5th!     TODAY'S FEATURE IS BLOG #3972 -     Earlier this month, at the 2013 San Diego Comic Fest... There was a special panel titled: 'One On One With Russ Heath'.   The panel was written up in the Comic Fest paperwork as follows:   1:45pm – 2:45pm: One-on-One With Russ Heath (Michael Gross, interviewer)- Meet our comics guest of honor, Russ Heath, who has been drawing comics since 1947. He is perhaps best known among comic fans for his work for DC, particularly their “Big 5? war comics. Both fans and his fellow professional artists have admired the authenticity of his war-comics work, which was based on thorough research and meticulous attention to detail. While at DC he also co-created the fan favorites Haunted Tank and Sea Devils. Prior to his DC work, Russ drew comics in multiple genres—superheros, westerns, horror, and science fiction—for Marvel Comics predecessor Timely Comics. He also contributed art to EC’s Frontline Combat and Harvey Kurtzman’s Mad, and Kurtzman’s Little Annie Fanny strip for Playboy. Michael Gross will interview Russ. Panelists: Michael Gross, Russ Heath Room: Garden 2.   My youngest son, Vinnie, and I attended this informative panel, where I learned info on Russ Heath that I didn't know!   At the right are three photos that I took during the presentation.   There were many topics covered during this special panel.
