Topic: Comic Books - New
How Did I Miss This One? But then again... if I had read these six comic books as they came out on the stands, it probably wouldn't have been such a terrific read for me as I would have had to wait for each issue to be published! This trade paperback collects 'Books of Doom' #1-6 by Ed Brubaker, Mark Farmer and Pablo Raimondi. Here I thought I knew so much of Doctor Doom's origin, (which I did), but the additional sequences written by Brubaker are very well drawn by Farmer and Raimondi. I could hardly put this collection down! Of course I am a long time fan of the Fantastic Four, (started with issue #3 back in 1962), and have enjoyed Victor Von Doom's earliest adventures against and then later with the Fantastic Four. Yet this updated telling of Victor Von Doom puts it all together for the reader, both for those that started reading about him in the 1960's, and for those that are newcomers to comics! This is a collection that makes taking individual comics that are part of a story arc and combining them into trade paperbacks a great idea! The only thing missing was that my copy of this collection did not have inside credits, or other regular pages including title page, publisher's info, etc. that you would normally see in a tpb. Whether or not this was on purpose by the publisher I know not. Possibly it was printed that way to be a true 'Books of Doom' presentation without any xtras? Other than that... this is a great read!
