TODAY'S FEATURE IS BLOG #3737 - I'm a little late this morning writing this blog! But it is after having a great three days at the first ever San Diego Comic Fest! And I want to post a few links, and say a few words about this convention... First, the words: For a first time convention... This was a darn good con, IMO! The total number of attendees, including guests, dealers, and comped panelists met the goal set by the con's Organizer, Mike Towry, as stated at the 'Feedback on Comic Fest' at the 4:15 panel on Sunday. And it wasn't overcrowded! The dealers room had a good flow to it, on the three days that I attended it, during different hours of the days. Duane Dimock, the Exhibtors Coordinator set it up right! The programs / panels that I attended, (which were many), were of quality topics and presented very well. Thanks to Mark Stadler, Porgramming Coordinator. The Cafe Frankenstein at the top of the Regency Tower was a fun place to eat, drink and see entertainment. Thanks to Wendy All, Cafe Recreationsit, and Ed Cormier, Maestro of Sound. The Art Exhibit and Artists Alley ran smoothly, thanks to Beata Csanadi, Artists Coordinator. I saw Ray Alley, Floor Operations, all over the place the three days... Great job, Ray! Ian Duckett, of Disabled Services had a good presence at the Comic Fest. Rock Parker, Registration, was there at the Ascot Room every time I popped in! Ron Ontell, Hotel Liason, did a fine job, as well as Val Ontell, Guest Liasion. Plus others who are named on page 2 of the Program Book! Including myself, who ran the Social Media (Facebook Fan Page). I found the 3 day Comic Fest to be busy, yet fun. I uploaded several photos to the Facebook Fan Page for the San Diego Comic Fest, plus have uploaded the first two days worth of photos from my camera already. Here's the link that you should check out: Facebook Fan Page for San Diego Comic Fest. The first blog I posted about the San Diego Comic Fest was this one from April 16th, which you can read here. My thanks to Mike Towry, one of the San Diego Comic-Con's co-founders, for starting this Comic Fest on the 40th Anniversary of the first Comic-Con at the old El Cortez Hotel! Which was the 1st one that I personally set up as a comic book dealer! See the below photo for me at the 1973 San Diego Comic Con at the Sheraton Hotel on Harbor Island! ~ Michael
