TODAY'S FEATURE - Blog #3510:

Back in Blog #3378, I review blogged *PPFST! #29, which was my first introduction to this title.  The comic book had been discontinued several years ago, and the publisher, Jim Main, was just bringing back the title after a seven year hiatus with issue #28, which I had not seen.

I've not seen issue #30 either, since review blogging #29, which I gave a VF/NM comic book grade. So I was interested to see what had transpired since the last issue I had read, as anthologies have to be one of the hardest comics genres to publish!

So what's this comic book anthology about?  Here's a description:

"A gorgeous full color cover by Brad Foster kicks off the latest issue of Jim Main's long-running comic, fiction, illustration publication. Also included is a superb full color back cover by Troy Boyle and John Larter, B&W interior illustartions by Kevin Duncan, Brad Foster and Christopher Durant. Strips this issue by Brien Wayne Powell(Magnet Man), Nate Corrigan(Death Comics and Some Comics About Some Stuff), Steve Keeter, Rock Baker and Jeff Austin(The Return of The Mysticist), George Leon(Super Surfer Dudes), Al and Rick Limacher(The Wild Zone), Robert W. Brunelle(Mr. Brunelle Explains It All), Simon Mackie(Pinky Gets A Stamp From Outer Space and The Coffee House)), Steve Shipley(The Death Of Digital), Henry Gustavson(Bill The Cockroach), Dan Burke(The League of Annoying Heroes) and Michael Anthony Carroll(Chibi Ninja Epic). 56 pages of enjoyment for 7.00 postpaid."

What were my thoughts on this comic book?

Front Cover - By Brad Foster illustrated circa 2007.  A PUP-BOT Theatre scene. Not for sure what this was all about, nor why it was chosen as the front cover artwork... But it kind of goes with the oversized title log of *PPFSZT!

Inside Front Cover - By Kevin Duncan.  A more recent pin up page (dated 2011), which got my imagination going when looking at it...

Splash Page - Used as a Table of Contents Page, which is always good to have right away for an 'anthology comic'! Especially as some comics creators only use initials for their signature.

Page 2 - The Editor Speaks! - Always a good feature to have, so that the reader of the comic can figure out what the Editor was thinking by including certain stories, what may be coming up in a future issue, etc.

With so many features in this issue, I'm only going to hi-light some of those that stood out personally for me.

Page 6 - Death Comics, by Nate Corrigan. A good six panel page. Who says you can't make your point on just one page?!

Page 7 -11 - The Return of the Mysticist, by Steve Keeter, Rock Baker and Jeff Austin.  This was a feature I really enjoyed!  I'm glad it was placed near the front of the comic.

Page 8 - The U.F.O. Checklist.  Yeah, it's an ad page... But it presents to readers of this comic that there are others creating indie comics and sharing cross exposure by printing this page in their comics.  Good to see this spirit of collaboration!

Page 21 - 30 - The Wild Zone, by Al and Rick Limacher.  Kind of 'out there', but of interest to those  that are into this 'genre' of storytelling.

Page 33 - 34 - Pinky gets a Stamp from Outer-Space', by Simon Mackie. Funny two-pager!

Page 35 - 38 - Timely storyline... As comics are going more and more digital...Here's a story on 'Death Of Digital'!  by Steve Shipley.

Page 43 - 48 - The League of Annoying Heroes, by Dan Burke. Good illustrations with a storyline that is fun to read.

Page 51 - 52- The letters pages (*PPFSZT!-ED OFF!!!).  What I miss about modern comics... Very few have letters pages...

Back Cover - By Troy Boyle and John Larter... Good way to end the issue, with a good sized pinup!

This issue is also a pretty well organized 'anthology' comic book, just like the issue #29 that I recently reviewed.  There seemed to be something for just about everyone in this issue... Which is hard to do!  I did notice that KA-Blamm didn't print this issue... ComiXpress did.  I would have to pull out my earlier issue to see if there was any printing differences... But offhand I didn't see anything stand out different, production wise from the printer.

I would have to say that Jim Main, Editor & Publisher is on the right track with this series.

Thus I'm giving this comic book a VERY FINE / NEAR MINT (VF/NM) 9.0 out of a possible 10.0 comic book grade.

You can see this comic book for sale at Main Enterprises ecrater online store.

Main Enterprises is renovating its Facebook presence, so I'll hold off on posting a link here at this time...

Thanks again to Jim Main of Main Enterprises for bringing this latest issue of *PPFSZT! to my attention!
