Jessica Biel... Soon To Be Dazzling ??
Mood:  cheeky
Topic: Comic Book Movies

DAZZLER....

the Movie ???

Could be.... there are rumours that Jessica Biel is to portray the Dazzler, (aka Alison Blaire), who  is a Marvel Comics superhero, usually associated with the X-Men.

Dazzler first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #130 (February 1980), as shown to the right.

Dazzler was a mutant with the ability to convert sound vibrations into light and energy beams. She was originally developed as a cross-promotional, multi-media creation between the companies of Casablanca Records, Filmworks, and Marvel Comics until those tie-ins were dropped later...

Dazzler started off as a Dico Queen, but with the start of her own series, and disco starting to fade, she sang more rock songs as her series progressed in New York City !

Additionally her concert perfomance suit was also her superheroine outfit ! This was not the norm, and set her apart from other superheroines of the day.

Dazzler's comic book series started off with a successfull launch, lost its' way and was changed to a more generic superheroine comic near the end of her series. She disappeared for a while in the Marvel Universe and was recently brought back... For Dazzler to become a successful movie today might be a stretch....

For those interested in Dazzler and other Marvel Superhero comic books, we have a slugfest full in our eBay Featured Store and eBay Pro Store.    If interested in Dazzler comics, just click on the comic book cover to the top right l

That's What Doctor Doom Did !

After first attempting to destroy those four do-gooders, (the rest of the world calls them the Fantastic Four), in issue #5, Doctor Doom then enlisted the aid of the Prince of Atlantis, Namor the Sub-Mariner!

Doctor Doom was a little put out about asking for assistance, so he decided to double cross his new found partner in issue #6 after Namor trapped the FF!

All this action for only 24 cents!  I could barely stand it when these comics first came out in July and August of 1962!!

Today issue #5 would be worth approximately $21,000.00 in Near Mint Minus (NM-) 9.2 CGC slabbed (3rd party graded) condition, which is what it last sold for in February 2006.

There are 255 of issue #5 unrestored comics graded by CGC, with only 3 copies at 9.4, 7 copies at 9.2, 6 copies at 9.0, with the rest in lower grades.

Today issue #6 would be worth approximately $8,184.00 in Near Mint Minus (NM-) 9.2 CGC slabbed (3rd party graded) condition, which is what it last sold for in June 2005.

There are 217 of issue #6 unrestored comics graded by CGC, with only 1 copy at 9.6, 1 copiy at 9.4, 4 copies at 9.2, with the rest in lower grades.

Just imagine if you had bought these copies and had kept them protected all these years. What an investment they would have made!

Unfortunately I did not either!  The two to the right were recently sold by myself after years of collecting and having a Complete FF collection!

The Fantastic Four were first written by Stan Lee and pencilled by co-creator Jack Kirby for their publisher Martin Goodman.

The series created by these two have given me great enjoyment for over 45 years.  Thank you Stan & Jack

For those interested in checking out the Fantastic Four comics run we have several unslabbed and CGC graded comics listed in our eBay Featured Store and eBay Pro Store.

Our Take

On American Idol's Show Last Night...

04-24-07    THE TOP 6    (MISM)

...Once again we have our thoughts on American Idol's show from last night to post today, it's getting to be a fun habit sharing with you!

And of course, you get both Tina's and my thoughts on the performances !

All this from MISM - Make It So Marketing !

(Reminder:  Tina and I come from different music backgrounds and musical tastes.  She's an East Coast girl and I am a Navy Brat from the West Coast with Midwest Roots!  I'm a 'Baby Boomer' and Tina was born at the tail end of the 'Boomer' generation, so she is much more influenced by the following generation's music ! )

Tina's recap of the night first:

"Tonight's 'Inspirational' Show..... WASN'T.... What  A Letdown ! "

The comments on the performances are below:

ContestantTina's ThoughtsMichael's Thoughts
1- Chris

Not a bad effort for him. Just NOT an inspirational song.... it's a love song!

He still can't sing most nights and has made it this far!

2- Melinda

Too polished to be inspirational !

OK, but wasn't inspirational for me !

3- Blake

Blake means blaise tonight...

Was imagining John Lennon singing this, even Scott Bakula singing this... but not Blake... why choose this song, it's too well known from John singing it ?!

4- LaKisha

Really bad song choice. Thought she'd shine in this category. She didn't. She peaked too early this season !

Bad beginning... got a little better... but didn't do it for me...
5- Phil

Did a good job, but a little maudlin.....

Watching him sing tonight, I feel like I'm watching a telethon !
6- Jordin

Someone finally made us cry. Another fantastic performance, but more importantly, she gave an emotional, inspirational performance !

Come on Ryan.... Showstopper???  NOT !

But she did get my vote tonight !

Well, that's it for last night's performances...

We don't usually sell American Idol Magazines or Photos, but for those interested in Rock N' Roll Comics, we have several comic books of that genre in our eBay Featured Comic Book Store and eBay Pro Store.

Super-Heroes That Is !

Visit Sunny San Diego At the Comic-Con International (SDCC) Which Will Run From July 26th - 29th

Comic-Con International, most commonly known as Comic-Con or the San Diego Comic-Con, (SDCC) is an annual fan convention held in San Diego, California.  It first was named the 'Golden State Comic Book Convention' and became known later as the 'San Diego Comic Book Convention'.

It was started in 1970 by Shel Dorf and a group of San Diegans. Today it is traditionally a four-day event (Thursday through Sunday) held during the summer in San Diego, California, at the San Diego Convention Center.  In recent years the Con has held a 'Preview Night' on the Wednesday night before opening day for members with four day badges only.

Originally a showcase for comic books, the convention has expanded over the years to include a larger range of pop culture, including science fiction, fantasy animation/anime, manga, toys, collectible card games, video games, television shows previews, and movies trailers screenings.

This convention is the largest of its kind in the United States, last year filling to capacity the San Diego Convention Center with 125,000 attendees. Indeed on Saturday the Con had to stop allowing new one day ticket sales to attendees for a few hours due to the fire marshall's request.

Every year there are awards shows, a masquerade, art auctions, and lots more!

We will be buying comics at the Con, but will not have a booth to sell as we currently have thousands of comics listed in our eBay Featured Store and  our eBay Pro Store.
