Bag and Board Your Comics!
Mood:  d'oh
Topic: Comic Book History

BAG and BOARD Your Inexpensive Comic Book Collectibles !!!

It's the LEAST You Can Do!

No matter where you found the comics, if you bought them or if they were given to you, the very LEAST you can do is to protect them until it is time to either give them away or attempt to resell them!

There are multiple sellers on eBay that sell inexpensive plastic bags, made especially for comic books, so there really is no excuse not to!

The only thing is when buying the bags, is to buy the right size for the comics you are trying to bag!  Comics have 'shrunk' during the decades, so older comics from the Golden Age of Comics (from approx 1938 to 1950's) are put into bags that say 'Golden Age on the package!

Silver Age Comics, (from approximately mid 1950's to early 1970's), need a smaller size to fit properly, and the 'Modern Ages of Comics' including Bronze, Copper and whatever else 'age' they want to call them, have their own even smaller size!

Wait a minute!  Now that your comics are in a protective specially designed inexpensive bag, how are they going to fit nicely and keep from bending, when you put them into whatever storage container you are keeping them in?

Never fear, there are also comic backing boards, that are specially made for the comics. Just as bags are usually sold in 100 count packages, so are comic backing boards. You can check eBay's listings for those also, as we don't sell these type of supplies.

In an upcoming blog post I will go into more depth on what type of bags and boards to buy. This blog post is just to tell you that there are comic book collecting supplies to protect your comics until you are ready to sell. I see way too many sellers selling comics without protection!

If however, you decide NOT to sell your comics, and find that you have been bitten by the 'collecting bug' then check out our eBay Featured Comic Book Store and eBay Pro Store for more comic related collectibles!

Raquel & Superman.... How Did I Miss That ?!!

Was looking at the DVD section of eBay's Reviews to add on another review when I ran across the fact that one of my favorite actresses, Raquel Welch, had been a guest star on the second season of "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman"!  She was a Trash TV Host in an episode name 'Top Copy!

How did I ever miss that episode ??? Yeah, I basically watched for Teri Hatcher.... but I must have been sleeping when Raquel's ep came on !!!

It is so cool that more and more DVD collections are coming out on old TV Shows now! And that we can buy them on eBay (or rent them elsewhere)!
If you were a fan of Lois and Clark, or the old Superman TV show from the 1950's like I was, you could check out our Superman comic books in our eBay Featured Comic Book Store and eBay Pro Store for more great reading and/or collecting! Sorry, but I will be looking for this DVD collection for myself, LOL !

The OWL Card And What it Means To Comic Book Collectors
Mood:  caffeinated
Topic: Comic Book History

The OWL Card and What It Means to Collectors of Comic Books !!

What is the OWL Card and what does it mean to me as a collector???

Well, 'OWL Card' stands for 'Overstreet's Whiteness Level Card' which is a very handy card to use when grading comics!

Besides checking for tears, stains, writing, store stamps, fold, and other type of defects, you must also check for the 'whiteness' of the pages!!

Wait a minute!  Weren't the old comic books printed on newspaper type of paper? How could that paper stand the test of time and be white???

Well, that is where this card comes in handy, as when you find a comic book listed with a different level of paper color you now know what it signifies!

For your collecting of comics you should buy an Overstreet Grading Guide, and an OWL Card.  Just check out the eBay auctions for a copy of your own! (Sorry, we are keeping our copies!)

However, after you have check out your comics with the OWL Card, and find that you want to upgrade to a better grade of the comic book,  check out our CGC encapsulated comic books in our eBay Featured Comic Book Store for high grade collectibles!
