TODAY'S FEATURE - Blog #3105:

Richard Hatch will be at Wizard World Comic Con Anaheim...And that will be sure to please his many fans from the Original Battlestar Galactica Series, as well as those that know him from the recent TV Series where he played 'Tom Zarek'!

Of course he is also known for other roles. A brief bio follows here:

"Richard Hatch has enjoyed international recognition for more than three decades. He has starred in such series as The Streets of San Francisco for which he won Germany’s Bravo Award (the equivalent of an Emmy Award), Battlestar Galactica, for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe award and the role of Philip Brent, which he originated on ABC’s All My Children. Richard is currently playing the role of Tom Zarek in the new re-imagined version of Battlestar playing on the Sci-fi channel and has just written a BG manga for Tokyopop focusing on his character."

The above excerpt was taken from this page:

I have seen Richard at a few other comic cons, most of which I was in packed rooms with others listening to him.  Recently I was able to meet him personally up close and get a few photos for my blog. Above are just two of them.

I found Richard to be a very busy guy, but he took the time to talk with me about some of his projects, including the book he was holding in the photo above.

His own 'Official Web Site' is at http://www.RichardHatch.com .

Anyways, if YOU plan to be in the Southern California area THIS UPCOMING WEEKEND, and are a fan of Battlestar Galactica, be sure to check out this 3-Day Comic Con in Anaheim, California!  If nothing else, if YOU are a Fan of any of the shows mentioned in the bio excerpt posted above, be there just to see Richard!

BTW, I would also give you the link to Richard's Facebook Fan Page, but it doesn't appear he has started one as of this posting... I'm Facebook Friends with him, but don't want to flood his own personal FB member account with Friends Requests at this time.

Anyways...So when is this  Wizard World Anaheim Comic Convention that YOU can drop in and see Richard Hatch?  Who BTW, is scheduled to be there all three days...

A Review Of the X-Men Origins: Wolverine Film On DVD

TODAY'S FEATURE - Blog #3104:

Today we have a Guest Blogger, Vinnie, who is blogging his review on the 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' Film on DVD. Take it away, Vinnie!

X-Men Origins: Wolverine DVD

"This movie tells the story of Wolverine when he was a boy that leads to the first film of the X-Men Trilogy.

This movie is a story that goes way back when Wolverine was younger. It started in Canada, in the year 1845, where we see two boys growing up amongst violence. These two boys soon showed incredibly special powers. Then the movie advances forward through time as they start fighting through successive wars together, seeming to be near-invincible, and hardly aging.

I liked the action which takes a major role in this movie as with a helicopter scene where Wolverine ends up crashing the helicopter.

What I also liked about the action is that the characters used different fighting styles such as swords, fists, and guns instead of in most movies like this, just with guns. It just made it a little more interesting.

The humor, of course was funny, but also served as a way to break tension at the most suspenseful of times as with when Sabretooth and Wolverine meet again after Wolverine had adamantium attached to his bone structure. After Wolverine wielded his new claws, Sabretooth says,"Ooh, shiny," which is then lead into intense fighting amongst the two. What also made this movie better was that they weren't talking in monotone, they were using inflection in their voice to make the characters they were playing more realistic.

At some parts it would become too crowded with things going on that it would be hard to concentrate on everything, which at some points I liked, but other times, I didn't.

I recommend this movie to older audiences and comic book or X-Men lovers. I would recommend this to the older audience because of intense fighting going on in most scenes that may not be suitable for younger kids.

I would also recommend this to X-Men lovers or more in general, comic book lovers for the ideas deriving from the X-Men comicbook."

My thanks to Vinnie for watching the DVD version of the film with us, and blogging his thoughts here.

Please Note:  Vinnie is not an X-Men fan(atic), but has seen all three of the X-Men Films Trilogy before this recent film.  He did not see it in the theater, just on the DVD rental.

Vinnie's main interest is the 'Amazing Spider-Man' comic book title, of which his personal collection is growing.  He has also seen all three of the Spider-Man Films at the theater and on DVD.

He could be 'classified' as a young fan of Spider-Man and has an interest in some other comic books.  He is not a full blown collector nor reader of comics in general.  Thus he is probably closer to 'mainstream' viewership than a 'fan boy'.  Yet he is more knowledgeable of comics than the average mainstream reader or viewer of comics or comic book movies, having worked with me on comics buying / sorting / etc.  Thanks again, Vinnie!

And...My thanks again to all of YOU reading this blog and our archived blog posts, now past the 3,100 total posts in number!!

TODAY'S FEATURE - Blog #3103:

Herb Jefferson Jr. will be at Wizard World Comic Con Anaheim...And that will be sure to please his many fans from the Original Battlestar Galactica Series!

Of course he is also known for other roles. A brief bio follows here:

"Veteran actor, Herb Jefferson Jr is known to many as Lieutenant Boomer from 'Battlestar Galactica', the third of the holy trinity, which included Capt. Apollo and Lt. Starbuck. But, you've seen him in many more roles than as Galactica's erstwhile Cylon hunter.

Jefferson was a series co-star in "Rich Man, Poor Man" with Nick Nolte, as well as, it's sequel "Rich Man, Poor Man Book II", the Revolutionary War mini-series "The Bastard", "Yellow Rose" with Sam Elliott and Cybill Shephard, and "The Devlin Connection" with Rock Hudson and Jack Scalia. Jefferson has also starred in over 100 episodes of series TV, including "ER", "Sister Sister", "Hill Street Blues", "Police Story", "Airwolf", "T.J. Hooker", "Quincy", "The Streets of San Francisco", "White Shadow", "Night Rider", "McCloud" and "Mission Impossible". His most recent TV appearance was in the recurring role of Police Chief Priceon the NBC soap opera "Sunset Beach".

His many feature film credits include "Apollo 13", "Outbreak", "Detroit 9000", "Black Gun", "The Slams", "One Dozen" and Roger Corman's "Private Duty Nurses", which marked his feature film debut."

The above excerpt was taken from this page:

Wizard World - Herb Jefferson Jr page.

I was fortunate enough to meet him once at the 2009 San Diego Comic Con International, when the photo at the top right of this blog post was taken. It was in between my going from one program to the next, and I was walking by his booth 'under the sails'.  I noticed who he was as he was closing for the day, and stopped to talk with him and snapped a couple of photos for future blogging purposes.

Anyways, if YOU plan to be in the Southern California area NEXT WEEKEND, and are a fan of Battlestar Galactica, be sure to check out this 3-Day Comic Con in Anaheim, California!  If nothing else, if YOU are a Fan of any of the shows mentioned in the bio excerpt posted above, be there just to see Herb Jefferson Jr.!

BTW, Herb had a fan site when I last blogged about him, but it wasn't updated and now I don't see it at all. So I am not aware of any 'Official' web site for him.  There a couple of 'Fan' sites, but I am not listing those at this time.

So when is this  Wizard World Anaheim Comic Convention that YOU can drop in and see Herb Jefferson Jr.?  Who BTW, is scheduled to be there all three days...

To The Bottom Left:  Richard Herd - Who Somehow Has Figured Out How To Time Travel Using The 'String Theory' and Has Played on 'V', 'Seaquest DSV', 'Star Trek: Voyager, 'TJ Hooker', and 'Quantum Leap', Just To Name A Few TV Series!

TODAY'S FEATURE - Blog #3102:

Richard Herd will be at Wizard World Comic Con Anaheim...And that will be sure to please his many fans!

If you are asking..."Who is Richard Herd?", that may be because he is such a good actor that you recognize him by sight, and not by name, because of the many roles he has played in his career!

I was fortunate enough to meet him once at a Quantum Leap Convention.  He was as nice in person as he was coming across as Moe Stein / Captain Galaxy on the Quantum Leap TV Show Episode "Future Boy"!

Others of YOU will remember him probably in diffrent roles, depending on YOUR age.  With the revival of 'V' on TV this New Season (2009-2010), several fans have gone back to see the original two series.  Richard had a role in the 1983 NBC miniseries V and then in the 1984 sequel V: The Final Battle, as John, the Visitors' Supreme Commander!

Others of you will remember his other major Sci-Fi genre roles include such recurring parts on the NBC series SeaQuest DSV as Admiral William Noyce, and then later on Star Trek: Voyager as Admiral Owen Paris, the father of Tom Paris.

But for me, as a big 'Leaper' during the days of Quantum Leap and QL Conventions, (see photo bottom right of this blog), I remember him best in two guest appearances on Quantum Leap, where he played the children's show host "Captain Galaxy" (a.k.a. Moe Stein in civilian life), who was a would-be time traveler, and then in the final episode, 'Mirror Image', as a miner named Ziggy Ziganovich. Darn, I miss that series... and yikes, It's been 20 Years as of 2009!

Anyways, if YOU plan to be in the Southern California area NEXT WEEKEND, and are a fan of his many TV AND Film roles, be sure to check out this 3-Day Comic Con in Anaheim, California!  If nothing else, if YOU are a Fan of any of the shows mentioned above, be there to see Richard Herd!

BIG NOTE:  Richard Herd will be there ONLY Friday and Saturday! Even though the Wizard World Con will be running through Sunday. Please Make a Note of That so YOU aren't disappointed if you want to see Richard!

Below is just a very brief bio on Richard Herd, who BTW now has a Facebook Fan Page.  You too can become a fan by clicking here: Richard Herd Facebook Fan Page. There is also an 'Offical Richard Herd Web Site, click here. The excerpt of the bio is as follows:

"He is known to millions of television viewers for his portrayal of John the Supreme Commander on the mini-series "V," and his recurring role as Admiral William Noyce on Seaquest. In recent years Herd had guest star roles in the PBS Masterpiece Theater's "Song of the Lark" with Academy Award Winner Maximilian Schell; NBC's "Shattered Mind" with Heather Locklear, and "Ike - The War Years" with Robert Duval among others. Additional television credits include Admiral Owen Paris on Star Trek Voyager, and three seasons as Captain Dennis Sheridan in T.J. Hooker among numerous guest star roles."

The above excerpt was taken from this page:

Wizard World - Richard Herd page.

So when is this  Wizard World Anaheim Comic Convention that YOU can drop in and see Richard Herd?  (Remember though, Richard is there only Friday and Saturday!)

BTW,  Just a reminder of something I've briefly touched on before....

That's the upcoming Batman Book that is being published this Fall of 2010 with a chapter that I have written in it.  The title of the book is: 'Gotham City 14 Miles'! The publication is a book of essays on the Batman TV Show from the 1960's by multiple authors, and it will be published by 'Sequart'! That would be the Sequart Research & Literacy Organization! Click here to view Sequart's Facebook Fan Page and become a fan, so you can get updates as the year progresses on this upcoming title!

Okay... enough about me, LOL! I just wanted to let those of you know that missed my earlier post about the 'connection' to 'Batman' as I have been dropping 'hints' in this blog for a while.  My thanks to Jim Beard, Editor of the book, for the original invite to participate in the project!

AND...My thanks again to all of YOU reading this blog and our archived blog posts, which is now over 3,100 total posts in number!   I do appreciate All of You that stop in to read this blog, either on a daily, weekly or monthly basis!
