Pinball Hall of Fame

in Las Vegas, Nevada!

TODAY'S FEATURE IS BLOG #3904 -     As I mentioned in Monday's blog... We have returned from our vacation in Las Vegas / Pahrump / Primm Valley, Nevada.

One of the locations we stopped at during our vacation trip was the Pinball Hall of Fame, which I first introduced to our blog readers in blog #3316 from January 5th of 2011.

Ever since then, whenever Tina and I go to Las Vegas... Tina makes sure that we stop in and play for a while!

Tina really enjoys the old & new games in this museum!  And the total amount of games in this Museum building is only 1/5th of what the owner owns!

I suggest that you:

1) Stop in at this Pinball Hall of Fame during your next stop to Las Vegas.  It can be found at:  1610 E. Tropicana, Las Vegas, Nevada 89119.

2) Take a look at the photos on this blog, and at the special photo album at my Facebook Fan Page.

3) 'Like' the Facebook Fan Page for the Pinball Hall of Fame.

Tim, the owner of the museum, has a lot of good and fun other type of games as well as pinball machines.

Be sure to take a look at this place your next trip to Las Vegas!

We sure will!

~Michael

Michael D Hamersky On Comics Presents His Take On The...

Sanders Family Winery In Pahrump, Nevada!

TODAY'S FEATURE IS BLOG #3903 -     As I mentioned in Monday's blog... We have returned from our vacation in Las Vegas / Pahrump / Primm, Nevada.

One of the locations we stopped at during our vacation trip was the Sanders Family Winery in Pahrump, Nevada.

We had not visited this winery before, indeed had not known about it, although there are just four wineries in all of the state of Nevada!

At the right are a few photos from our trip to the winery. More will be uploaded to the special photo album at my Facebook Fan Page!

The Pahrump area, (as well as Las Vegas where we were staying), was experiencing a heat wave, and we were the only ones at the Winery for the tasting that early Wednesday morning of July 3rd.

Which made it more interesting for us!

Jack Sanders, owner of the Winery, took the time to tell us about the Winery, its wines, his history in the area, and more about Pahrump!

The Sanders Family Winery is just about 45 minutes away from the Strip in Las Vegas, after taking 160 to travel there.  The location is at: 3780 E. Kellogg, Pahrump, Nevada 89061.

The Facebook Fan Page for the Winery is at this link, and the web site for the Winery is this link.

Tina and I enjoyed the tasting, and picked up a few bottles to bring back to California.

Make time to see the Italian Tuscan Villa building that the winery is housed in. The winery is on the Southern side of the town of Pahrump.

The winery is actually bordered on each side by the  Spring Mountains to the East, and the colorful Nopah Range defining the Nevada-California border to the West.

We will definitely be coming back to this winery in a future Las Vegas / Primm trip!

Next Week... The 2013 Comic-Con International: San Diego (SDCC)

Michael D Hamersky On Comics Mentions That Next Week Is The...

2013 San Diego Comic Con International...

Which Runs Wednesday, July 17th thru Sunday, the 21st!

TODAY'S FEATURE IS BLOG #3902 -     As I mentioned in Monday's blog... We have returned from our vacation in Las Vegas / Primm Valley, Nevada.

Next week Tina and I will be attending all five (5) days / nights of the 2013 San Diego Comic Con International.

I haven't missed one since the SDCC moved to the San Diego Convention Center in 1991!

My first set up at the SDCC was in 1972, where I bought out a comic book dealer at the El Cortez for the last day of that con.  I then sat up my own table at the 1973 SDCC at the Sheraton Hotel on Harbor Island in San Diego.

So yes... I've already gone through the SDCC schedule of programs and panels, and have printed it out to transfer to my SDCC program book.  As my cell phone runs down on batteries before the end of each day!

I'm going to be posting photos during each day up at my Facebook Fan Page so that you can view them as you find time to do so.  Which also runs down my cell phone battery.

I won't be going into detail on the pre-2013 SDCC much via this blog, as there is now less than a week before the Comic-Con starts.

My previous years blogs can do that for you, as there hasn't been that many changes that I am aware of, other than non Comic-Con sites bursting out with off-site events.  So that those that couldn't buy memberships to the Comic-Con could still come to San Diego and hang out, without even going to the SD Convention Center.

I'll be posting more on the 2013 SDCC after the Comic-Con is over... at this Blog & my Facebook Fan Page

At Primm, Nevada...
Patti LaBelle!

TODAY'S FEATURE IS BLOG #3901 -     We have returned from our vacation from Las Vegas / Primm Valley, Nevada!

As I blogged about yesterday, we saw a couple of shows, including Penn & Teller at the Rio, and then Patti LaBelle at the Star of the Desert Arena at Buffalo Bill's in Primm, Nevada.

This blog is on Patti's concert, which took place on Saturday, July 6th of 2013.

Patti was on time with her show, which started a couple of minutes after 8PM.

Tina, my wife, knew Patti's song history, and totally enjoyed the hour and half concert.

As for myself, I enjoyed listening to Patti & her band and backup singers, although I didn't know most of the songs.

Patti's Wikipedia entry is shown in this link & here is the link to her IMDb entry.

As you can see, she has been around for a few years!

As a matter of fact, she just turned 69 in May, which she did mention a couple of times during her concert.

Patti did take a few times to sit down during her performance, which I haven't really seen before in other concerts.

Still... I did find herself and her band members giving it all to perform for the audience at the Star of the Desert Arena, which holds 6,500 attendees.

This concert was a fun one to attend.   My review blog on the Gladys Knight concert at the same venue back in March of 2013 can be found in this link.  I will be uploading a few of the songs / photos I took of Patti at my Facebook Fan Page!

Plus, I do have music comic books in my online store for sale!

Penn & Teller

...And Comic Books?!

TODAY'S FEATURE IS BLOG #3900 -     Well... Like I mentioned in yesterday's blog... We have returned from our vacation from Las Vegas / Primm Valley, Nevada!

I have downIoaded all of the photos / videos that we shot during the trip, and will be uploading them in the weeks to follow, per each blog's topic.

Today's topic is the Penn & Teller show!

I of course knew of them, but had never seen them in person.  Sure, I saw Penn Jillette on the Celebrity Apprenctice a second time this past season, so I was comfortable with seeing him, as well as Teller who showed up in an episode of the show!

The evening we had at the Rio's Penn & Teller Theater was fantastic!   If you head out to Las Vegas... You should take this show in!

Here's the link to the Penn & Teller Wikipedia entry.

Plus here is the link to their own web site.

I will be uploading a video from the opening of the act at my YouTube Channel soon. In the meantime here is the photo album at my Facebook Fan Page.

As for the comic book connnection... Well, there have a lot of magicians in comic book history!

Including of course, Doctor Strange from Marvel Comics, Magicman in Forbidden Worlds from ACG Comics, Mandrake the Magician from King Comics, and Zatanna Zatara from DC Comics just to name a few!

As for the word 'Magic' itself... There are over 200 different comic book titles with 'Magic' as part of the title!

So there is a connection between 'Magic Shows' & 'Comic Books'!
