I Want to Believe!

Our old friends Mulder and Scully come
to a theater near you on July 25, 2008 and I for one, can't wait.  If you haven't seen the trailer yet, check it out online at the official  X-Files  site.  (Sorry I can't give you the link - it's off eBay.) Click on the teaser trailer - it'll get your heart racing.

Just hearing the opening theme music takes me back to sitting home on a Friday night eagering anticipating having the crap scared out of me.  In fact, after the "Worm Man" and that guy who crawled through electrical sockets, I couldn't watch the show unless I had other adult supervision.

Twentieth Century Fox will only say that the story takes place in present time six years after the end of the television show, and it doesn't involve aliens. The movie will be a stand-alone super-natural thriller similar to the creepy scary episodes we loved from the tv series.

If the movie fulfills the promise of the trailer, we're in for an exciting and satisfying time. Setting the action in the frozen north is genius.  Immediately, the characters are isolated in an eerie setting - it instantly ratches up the tension.

And speaking of tension, Mulder says, "I need you on this with me, Scully."  You need her - no kidding!

And, we need Mulder and Scully back!

Meanwhile, if you can't wait for  X-Files The Movie and you need to have the crap scared out of you, check out these classic Horror comics:  'Dark Mansion', 'Ghost Stories', 'Dracula', and 'Frankenstein', oh my!

We have an ongoing Comic Con and Pop Culture  convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

It Was The Last Day In Vietnam...

It Was The

Last Day In Vietnam!

Last night Tina listed about three dozen more 'The 'Nam Comics' in our eBay Featured Store.

While she was doing so she asked me if they had any connection to the Graphic Novel by Will Eisner that was also listed in the store.

She recognized that Will Eisner also had 'The Spirit' newspaper strip and comic book series, which is being transformed into an upcoming comic book movie.

I informed her that no, the Marvel Comics of 'The 'Nam' didn't have anything to do with the Will Eisner Graphic Novel, other than the settings were in the country of Vietnam.

I also told her that there have actually been several comic book series on the War in Vietnam, and that the Marvel Comics series was the easier one to collect and / or read.

BTW, we both are showing some interest in the upcoming 'The Spirit' film which is being directed by Frank Miller.

The addition of Samuel L Jackson as the villain 'The Octupus' is a great addition to drawing more attention to this production!

We'll be sure to blog more on the film, but wanted today to bring to your attention a good read on this inexpensive Marvel Comics book series, and an interesting and recommended Graphic Novel by Will Eisner!

Hancock Is Not A Comic Book Superhero Movie!
Mood:  d'oh
Topic: Other Movie Genres

Hancock Is Not A Comic Book Superhero Movie!

That being said, is it a film that Tina and I would have interest in viewing, and what were our thoughts about it?

That is the question that was posed to us, as we had not yet blogged about it!

This upcoming July 2nd 2008 film has teaser trailers being shown right now.

The first trailer was basically surprising to me, as it appeared to be delving into the past of Iron Man when Tony Stark had a story arc in the comic book title where he dealt with alcoholism.

The newest trailer emphasizes the humor and the action moments of the film. Sadly this is not exactly what the film is about it.

The film itself has gone through several title changes and suggested title changes. It started as 'Tonight, He Comes' back in 1996.

Additionally several production people have revolved through the project. Not always a good sign...

This film would be more of a gamble with its' drinking problem, and other plotlines if not for its' major star Will Smith. With his multitude of fans, it should have a good opening and then word of mouth should either give it a thumbs up or a thumbs down.

Besides drinking in front of a 17 year old, and flying under the influence, there are other scenes that may be disturbing to parents. Supposedly a 'statutory rape' scene has been deleted, as the marketing campaign has been one of 'action and humor', instead of the darker elements that are or were in this film to begin with.

So what are my thoughts?  I have to go with my gut feeling as to what this film is all about and what do I want for my entertainment dollar when out at the Movie Theater.

As the director of the film, Peter Berg said, "The ad campaign for this movie is much friendlier than this film".

I don't like going to see films on the Big Screen for Big Bucks and then finding out what I thought I would be seeing is not what the ad campaign suggested it would be like!

I think I'll save the Big Bucks to view on the Big Screen for films like Get Smart, The Dark Knight, X-Files - I Want To Believe, and save Hancock to view on rental DVD, as I have liked almost all of Will Smith's previous films and will give this a play when the time comes.

The above is JMHO for now!

So what is it that is appealing to potential viewers of this upcoming July 2nd 2008 Film?  Well, the main appeal would have to be that of Will Smith playing the role of John Hancock!

For all of our currently listed Books, manga, Graphic Novels,  Superehero Comics and Magazine listings just click on the film poster above!

It's The Amazing....

Spider-Maze...

 Not Spider-Man!

I'm talking about just one of the many 'maze pages' in one of Marvel Comics' titles that were aimed for kids at one time!

The comic book series was titled 'Fun And Games' and was a regular sized comic book even though it was a compilation of mazes, word scrambles, coloring pages, trivia tests, etc.!

Due to the fact that most of these 'interactive' comics were written in or cut out or even colored... the odds of finding a Near Mint (NM) copy today is actually harder than one would think!

We have several issues in varying condition grades listed for sale at this time, and wanted to bring this to our readers' attention as these have been an undervalued and overlooked comic book series but we find are being looked for today by collectors!

For those of you that are new to our blog, we have an ongoing comics and pop culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post and please come back again!
