Red Sonja Film Panel At The 2008 SDCC Comic Con International! Thursday afternoon, July 24th 2008, was the day that the Special Program on the upcoming 'Red Sonja' Film was held. The promo verbage for this special program was as follows: 2:00-3:00 Red Sonja: One-on-One— Robert Rodriguez (Sin City), Rose McGowan (Grindhouse), Doug Aarniokoski (2nd unit director, Resident Evil 3) and David White (Undisputed 2) are teaming up to bring back the red-headed warrior woman known as Red Sonja. Join Robert, Rose, Doug, and David for this one-on-one interview and Q&A session! Room 6CDEF. Here are my thoughts only on this program, as Tina was at a different program that she will be blogging about. First, Robert had really cleaned up his verbal act during this program. On the back of each of the name placards were the advisories to the guests stating that there could be attendees under 18 in the crowd and it would be appreciated if appropriate language was used. Having seen Robert before at the Con, I felt that this time he was better at getting his point across as to what he wanted to do with the Film. That fact interested me more in the film, as to be there I had to have some interest at least... However Rose McGowan didn't play allong with the suggestion of language, and proceeded to lower my expectations of her upcoming role in this movie.... Additionally she would be starting training the following Monday, and after looking at her flexing her muscles there in person... well, they better use some CGI on her battle scenes... Expected guest David White did not appear, however Doug was very well versed at what he was going to do, although he kept deferring to Robert, who really isn't going to direct the movie, as Robert has a conflicting schedule with another film at the same time. Suffice to say, I was impressed with the still photos of Rose as Red Sonja that were shown, and some already printed into posters, and the fact that Robert really wants to put out the best product although he won't be there for all of it. So the film will rest on Rose's shoulders to see if she can carry it off. Re-reading my earlier blog post on this upcoming film, I can see that I was more excited and hopeful about Red Sonja finally coming to the Big Screen again.... So hopefully Rose can pull it off, now that I have seen her. She definitely has the bravado to pass as Red Sonja... so I will wait to see what teaser trailers are released in the future before coming to a decision to see this at the theater or not... BTW, We also have an ongoing Comic Con and Pop Culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale! Thanks for reading this post today and please join us again for more updates on comics and pop culture topics! Michael | Robert Rodriquez came out first, and the crowd was excited as he is known for his no-nonsense manner of getting on with the program! Rose McGowan and Doug Aarniokiski soon followed Robert arrival on stage, and are shown above. Doug Aarniokiski, although deferring to Robert's vision of the film, appears to be the right man to direct the film in Robert's absence.Note From Make It So Marketing: Each comic / comics book. graphic novel or magazine in our eBay Featured Store is individually graded, inventoried, priced, bagged and boarded, before being listed for sale!
