Red Sonja Film Panel At 2008 SDCC Comic Con!
Mood:  quizzical
Topic: Comic Book Movies

Red Sonja

Film Panel

At The 2008 SDCC Comic Con International!

Thursday afternoon, July 24th 2008, was the day that the Special Program on the upcoming 'Red Sonja' Film was held.

The promo verbage for this special program was as follows:

2:00-3:00 Red Sonja: One-on-One— Robert Rodriguez (Sin City), Rose McGowan (Grindhouse), Doug Aarniokoski (2nd unit director, Resident Evil 3) and David White (Undisputed 2) are teaming up to bring back the red-headed warrior woman known as Red Sonja. Join Robert, Rose, Doug, and David for this one-on-one interview and Q&A session! Room 6CDEF.

Here are my thoughts only on this program, as Tina was at a different program that she will be blogging about.

First, Robert had really cleaned up his verbal act during this program.  On the back of each of the name placards were the advisories to the guests stating that there could be attendees under 18 in the crowd and it would be appreciated if appropriate language was used.

Having seen Robert before at the Con, I felt that this time he was better at getting his point across as to what he wanted to do with the Film. That fact interested me more in the film, as to be there I had to have some interest at least...

However Rose McGowan didn't play allong with the suggestion of language, and proceeded to lower my expectations of her upcoming role in this movie....

Additionally she would be starting training the following Monday, and after looking at her flexing her muscles there in person... well, they better use some CGI on her battle scenes...

Expected guest David White did not appear, however Doug was very well versed at what he was going to do, although he kept deferring to Robert, who really isn't going to direct the movie, as Robert has a conflicting schedule with another film at the same time.

Suffice to say, I was impressed with the still photos of Rose as Red Sonja that were shown, and some already printed into posters, and the fact that Robert really wants to put out the best product although he won't be there for all of it.  So the film will rest on Rose's shoulders to see if she can carry it off.

Re-reading my earlier blog post on this upcoming film, I can see that I was more excited and hopeful about Red Sonja finally coming to the Big Screen again.... So hopefully Rose can pull it off, now that I have seen her. She definitely has the bravado to pass as Red Sonja... so I will wait to see what teaser trailers are released in the future before coming to a decision to see this at the theater or not...

BTW, We also have an ongoing Comic Con  and Pop Culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Doug Aarniokiski, although deferring to Robert's vision of the film, appears to be the right man to direct the film in Robert's absence.

So Who's HOT In Our Archived Blog Posts Right Now? 08-08-08

So Who's

'Hot'

 In Our Archived Blog Posts

Right Now?

No, It's NOT The  X-Files  Film or Bettie Page  Or Batman The Dark Knight

Or Even the Iron Man Film...

No... This Time Right Now,  It's...

'The 4400' Once Again!

Yes... 'The 4400' TV Show that is NOT having a 5th Season this Summer!

Long time readers of our Blog know that I check our Blog Stats at least daily to see 'which' of our archived blog posts bloggers are viewing!

The 'why' has been explained in detail before, but suffice to say we have thousands of more items to list, and it is always best to know what timely topic people are looking for and then add any items on that topic for sale in our online store!

I noticed right off this morning that today is 08-08-08 and thought I should blog about what is  'HOT' on this unusal date! As of right now, the most viewed archived blog post we have, (out of over 1800+ total), is the 'The 4400 TV Show Season 5 Is Cancelled!' archived Blog post of ours from December 28th 2007!

That archived blog post has been viewed by 8% of our most recent viewership this morning!

Also, this archived blog post has been seeing continual viewership all week, staying in our 'Top 5'!

As blogged about before, there has been activity by fans of the show trying to have the show revived, but so far it is still to naught....

There have been thoughts expressed as to the show having a finale film, and also a series of tie-in novels to continue the story.  None have come out so far to continue the TV Show's story to my knowledge...

As a side note... You would think that the most viewed archived blog post of ours would be on the several programs we have seen and blogged about from the recent 2008 SDCC Comic Con International!

There would have been more blog posts this week on those programs, but I am still busy grading and listing all the items we picked up at the Con, instead of blogging about them here!

Tina and I are pleased to say that this blog is still having continued success in attracting new readers and also continues to have new RSS subscribers each week!

Welcome aboard to all those new readers! We're glad you found us and want to read more in the days ahead from us by subscribing to our RSS feed!

We also extend our grateful thanks to our returning visitors who don't subscribe!!!

For those that are new to us... we have an ongoing Pop Culture Convention - Comic Con here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Come back anytime! You are welcome to comment below when the comments option is open on the eBay blog version of our blog! (The non-eBay blog's comments are always open!)

We Were In Search Of Steve Ditko...

We Were In Search Of Steve Ditko...

At The 2008 SDCC Comic Con International!

Saturday night, July 26th 2008, was the night that the
Annual Masquerade was being held.

However before that happened, I wanted to see the documentary 'In Search of Steve Ditko' that was being held in Room 5AB.

Why? Because earlier 'googling' of it showed that it had been a documentary shown on the BBC, but that there wasn't any DVD out for rental or purchase!

So, even though it took a while for the host to set up his copy of the broadcast to work on the Convention Centers equipment, Tina and I both felt it was well worth the wait!

The program ran from 7:00-8:40 although the documentary is only approxiamtely an hour in length.

The host was author Blake Bell, who wrote "Strange & Stranger: The World of Steve Ditko".

He hosted a showing of the documentary In Search of Steve Ditko that was narrated by UK television star Jonathan Ross.

The documentary featured such comics legends  Neil Gaiman, Alan Moore, and Stan Lee, who discussed, each in their own fashion, Ditko's work and career.

At the same time we as an audience follow along Ross' journey to find Steve Ditko when he travels to New York City!

Tina, who is not a Steve Ditko fanatic, was also held fascinated by the documentary, and didn't want to leave!

Suffice to say, if Blake Bell gives a showing at a comic con near you, make it a 'must see' program! Seriously!

It is NOT a dry documentary, and it is an hour well spent on this subject!

BTW, We also have an ongoing Comic Con  and Pop Culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Thanks for reading this post today and please join us again!

Blake Bell did get the program started, even though it was a little late, and did an excellent setup for the documentary he brought for sharing, as shown in the above photo! My thanks to him as it is not available anywhere else for viewing!

Click here to see our currently listed STEVE DITKO items... AND we have THOUSANDS of other comics and magazines listed as well!

Jonathon Ross is the host and narrator of the documentary. In just one hour he explores the subject of Steve Ditko and his work, including but not limited to:  The Amazing Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, The Hawk and The Dove, Mr A, and so much more!  If and when this documentary comes out, it is a must have for Steve Ditko fans!

It Was The

 Patriotic

Thing To Do!

As Reported From The Floor Of The 2008 SDCC Comic Con  International!

He showed up at the 2008 San Diego Comic Con International in full costume...

Talking about Captain America of course!

Even though 'my' Cap, (Steve Rogers), is dead in the comic books, I enjoyed seeing this earlier version of Cap at the Comic Con on Sunday!

Running a little late today due to all of the shipping that had to go out, and have hundreds more of Comic Con promos to list, but wanted to at least blog a photo taken at the recent SD Comic Con for you all to admire!

The Dark Knight Speaks!

The Dark Knight Speaks!

As Reported From The 2008 SDCC Comic Con  International!

That is... he would have, if he had shown up at the San Diego Comic Con International program that Tina and I attended on Saturday!

That program was the one for the upcoming Terminator: Salvation Film that Christian will be starring in.

Tina has already blogged about that program as seen by clicking here!

I am blogging about the fact that although Christian Bale was in Japan doing promo work during Comic Con time, he had spoken to the Wizard Magazine people as seen by the top right photo where he, as 'The Dark Knight' is shown prominently on that special cover.

We were able to pick up a few of this special cover issue, and since the Con it has been our best seller in our eBay Store and Web Site. If you haven't purchased a NM (Near Mint) copy anywhere yet, here may be your best chance to do so....

BTW, We also have an ongoing Comic Con  and Pop Culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Instead of Christian Bale being there... "Arnold" Was Baaaaack!  And he, (the great fan impressionist), was invited onstage during the Comic Con Terminator: Salvation Panel as shown in the above photo!
