Continual Interest In Isis The Cat!

Continual Interest

In Mister Seven's Cat 'Isis'

 As Pictured In Human Form!

That Was Victoria Vetri's

(a.k.a. Angela Dorian)

Role on The Star Trek: TOS TV Show!

Earlier this week I blogged about our renting the Star Trek TOS Season 2 DVD to view, after catching what we wanted to of the DNC Convention in Denver each night.

The 'Assignment: Earth' episode jumped out at me, because of an archived blog post of ours that has been in the Top 20 the past week.

Last year I had blogged about Angela Dorian / Victoria Vetri being on the 1960's Batman TV Show and referenced that she had also been on Star Trek The Original Series (TOS). That blog post has been in our Top 20 all week!

Even today, that archived blog post and the one we published earlier this week are in our Top 10 archived blog posts.

I don't have an answer as to why... but the fact is that for some reason those two blogs are very popular this week!

At the top right is a new close up pic of 'Isis' from the episode, and below that is the one that has been published in the earlier blog posts for comparison.

'Isis' only had a couple of minutes in 'human form' at the end of the episode, as she immediately turned back to the black cat form.

The episode 'Assignment: Earth' originally aired March 29, 1968.

It still holds up today as a good hour of entertainment even though the stage sets were a little skimpy...

For those of you interested in Star Trek comic books or other sci-fi comics, just click on the picture at the top right

BTW, We don't show TV Show episodes here, although we do have an occasional  Film or TV Show DVD for sale here, but we do have an ongoing Comic Con  and Pop Culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

It Was Her Death...

 That Was Immortalized In
The Commemorative Issue Of Conan The Barbarian #100!

I was just listing several more Conan The Barbarian Comic Books from Marvel Comics in our eBay Featured Store.

Issue #58 was Belit's introduction to the Marvel Comics Universe of Conan, and she lasted in the series until issue #100 which is shown at the top right when her death was the special issue's cover feature!

Robert E Howard, (REH), created Red Sonja, Conan The Barbarian, King Kull, Solomon Kane and others during his short life in Texas!

Marvel Comics included Belit in the Conan The Barbarian Comics in the 1970's culminating in the Death of Belit in Conan's issue #100!

Belit was first published in 1934 when REH had his 'Queen of the Black Coast' story printed in the May 1934 issue of Weird Tales!

Basically, Conan found Belit as follows: In the seacoast kingdom of Argos, after a brush with the Hyborian legal system, Conan hops aboard a southward bound ship. Off the coasts of Kush the ship is boarded by black corsairs under the Shemitish she-devil, Bêlit. Conan joins her crew, becomes her consort, and for a long time they harry the Hyborian and Stygian ports. During this stage of his career, Conan gains the name of Amra, the Lion, which is to follow him throughout his later life!

Check out our newest listings from the Age of Conan, including the Pocket Books reprints, Red Sonja, Conan the Barbarian Comics and more Sword & Sorcery Comics listings by clicking the top right comic book cover!

BTW, we have an ongoing Comic Con  and Pop Culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Originally They Were

 Classics Comics...

Then Classics Illustrated!

However by the Spring of 1971 these novels in illustrated format ceased to be published!

I was asked this because of yesterday's blog post where I blogged about the issues we picked up at the Comic Con, read, and then listed for sale.

When clicking on the photo of the issue shown to go along with the blog post, a new window popped up, showing more recent issues of Classics Illustrated.

If the Classics Illustrated had stopped being printed... then what were these I was asked via email?!

Well there have been a few attempts to revive this format.

First Publishing printed 27 issues, starting in February of 1990 and ending in June of 1991. I read a few of these, but found the artwork too modern for my tastes.

Acclaim printed 62 issues, starting in February of 1997 and ending in February of 1998, somewhat flooding the market...

Jack Lake Productions printed 4 issues in Canada during 2005.

Marvel Comics printed a 'Marvel Classics Comics' series from 1976 to 1978 consisting of 36 issues, which were similar to Classics Illustrated... These were some of my favorites and have been popular with our buyers in the past.

There have been other international editions published during and since Gilberton was publishing Classics Illustrated.

So there are several issues to choose from, and in English to German to Spanish at least! They Were Classics Illustrated...
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: Comic Book History

They Were

 Classics Illustrated...

...and yes, I did read a few of these growing up!

However, I was usually reading them not for pleasure, but to get a better understanding of whatever novel they were illustrating for my school homework!

For me they were a precursor to Cliff's Notes, but in a more readable and enjoyable style.

Originally I basically only read these for the authors I didn't really like or felt were too wordy in writing their novels.

I had an English Teacher that encouraged us to read these in addition to the actual novels, but when it came to test time, she would also ask questions on scenes that were not covered in the Classics Illustrated version to make sure we read the novel, LOL!

We picked up a dozen of these at the latest Comic Con, and after reading them this time for fun, thought I would list them in our eBay Featured Store for others to enjoy! A few of them are collector's issues and are priced accordingly.

Historically these items were first called Classics Comics when they started being published in 1941 by Gilberton. That lasted for 34 issues, and then the series changed to Classics Illustrated in 1947. The first 34 issues when reprinted were also called Classics Illustrated.

For those that don't know how to grade or figure out which edition they may already have, the HRN (Highest Reorder Number) on the back cover or inside back cover is the key to finding the HRN for which edition / print you may have.

For those with young kids these Classics Illustrated comics are actually a good way to introduce 'good' reading!

Now the above Classics Illustrated #144 is one issue that I enjoyed just for itself. Just as I enjoyed the novel by Jules Verne, and then later the movie at the theater when it was released!

It was fun for me as a kid to see what artists conceptualized in renderings for the comics... because growing up we didn't have VCRs, DVDs or the Internet to watch in the mid 1950's to 1970!  Which is why I still love Comics and Illustrated Graphic Novels!

That Was BarBara Luna And.... Zorro !
Mood:  a-ok

That Was

BarBara Luna

And....

Zorro!

'Teresa Modesto'  Was Her Role on The Zorro TV Show

Episodes #45 -48!

Earlier I blogged about BarBara Luna being featured in one of my favorite episodes of Star Trek, 'Mirror Mirror'.

Also, that Tina had pointed out that BarBara was the same actress that was 'Elena' on the episode titled the same on a Mission Impossible episode.

So I 'Googled' her, and found that she was also in several other TV shows during the years as well as film. Those included Bonanza, Have Gun Will Travel, The Texans, The Untouchables, Tales of Wells Fargo, Death Valley Days, The Outer Limits, Ripcord, The Wild Wild West, The Invaders, The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and more!

Additionally she was in at least four espisodes of Zorro that ran from 11/13/58 to 12/04/58.

Quite honestly I watched the Zorro episodes for the Annette Funicello appearances, so I just didn't place BarBara in this series. BTW, she now prefers her name to be spelled as 'BarBara' Luna, which is why I'm changing it here in this blog post.

So we'll have to put this on our 'to watch list' for later...

For those that were or are fans of Barbara Luna, just add the dotcom after her name to see her current web site. BTW she was at Wonder Con in San Francisco in 2007 signing autographs!

BTW, We don't show TV Show episodes here, although we do have an occasional  Film or TV Show DVD for sale here, but we do have an ongoing Comic Con  and Pop Culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!
