The Inn At Churon Winery in Temecula Wine Country, California
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: Other Movie Genres

The Inn At Churon Winery in Temecula Wine Country, California!

Our last trip to Temecula Wine Country in May was when we decided to join a 'Wine Club'.

This was after multiple trips to Temecula Valley and visiting sample rooms at the many wineries in the area, both public and private.

Whereas Tina and I enjoyed Baily's, Keyways, Filsinger, and Bella Vista among others in the area... Churon was the one where we both enjoyed multiple wines. That is rather hard for us to do, as Michael prefers sweet wines and Tina enjoys dry wines...

Thus, we were now back to pick up our wine selection for the period, after stopping in at Tina's pastor friend's church in neighboring Murrietta.

While at Churon we also ran across a new winery lead in Ramona which is to the East of us, when we head out to Julian for the apple harvest days. Thanks to Shirley Schwaesdall and her friend for tipping us off to this winery. Shirley is the Event Coordinator for the winery there.

Tina and I are not able to get up to the Santa Ynez Valley as often as would like to, so the Temecula Wine Country is a good choice for us as it is only about 45 minutes to the North!

FYI, Santa Ynez Valley, which is North of Santa Barbara, was the area that was the background for the film 'Sideways' that was out a few years ago. See my archived blog post of visiting with Fess Parker at his Restaurant and Inn by clicking here!

This blog post is being published today to reflect the fact that we do go to more than just Sci-Fi, Comic Book and other Pop Culture Conventions on occasions, LOL!

BTW, We don't sell or sample wine here, but we do have an ongoing funtime Comic Con  and Pop Culture convention at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Thanks for reading this post today and please join us again!

Since Michael was the designated driver for this day trip.... he stopped after sampling the white wines!  Tina's favorites are the red wines at this winery, which is why she decided to join this wine club.

Mister Seven's Cat Isis!

Mister Seven's Cat 'Isis' In Human Form!

That Was Victoria Vetri's

(a.k.a. Angela Dorian)

Role on The Star Trek: TOS TV Show!

Last night, being tired of watching the Olympics and the Political News (for a change!), we rented Star Trek TOS Season 2 DVD.

After watching the great bonus features, we had time for one episode.

The 'Assignment: Earth' episode jumped out at me, because of an archived blog post of ours that has been in the Top 20 this past week.

Last year I had blogged about Angela Dorian / Victoria Vetri being on the 1960's Batman TV Show and referenced that she had also been on Star Trek The Original Series (TOS). That blog post has been in our Top 20 all week!

At the top right is one of the few pics of her as the cat in 'human form' from that episode!

She only had a couple of minutes in 'human form' at the end of the episode, as she immediately turned back to the black cat form.

The episode 'Assignment: Earth' originally aired March 29, 1968. It still holds up today as a good hour of entertainment even though the stage sets were a little skimpy...

For those of you interested in Star Trek comic books or other sci-fi comics, just click on the picture at the top right

BTW, We don't show TV Show episodes here, although we do have an occasional  Film or TV Show DVD for sale here, but we do have an ongoing Comic Con  and Pop Culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Thanks for reading this post today and please join us again!

EUReKA... We've Found It... The Eureka Episode We've Been Waiting For ...

EUReKA......

We've Found It...

The Eureka Episode We've Been Waiting For ...

Episode of 08-19-08!

As Reported From The 2008 SDCC Comic Con  International!

The Comic Con panel for the SciFi Channel's popular EUReKA promised us we'd see Sheriff Jack Carter in a towel - over and over this season.

In this past week's episode, they didn't disappoint - me, that is.  I don't think Michael cared so much.  But he did enjoy seeing Allison dolled up in her wedding dress.

The panel told us to expect a Groundhog Day-like episode where the day keeps repeating for Carter.  Fortunately for female viewers, Carter starts his day in the shower - and keeps returning to it!

Like Billy Murray's character in Groundhog Day, at first, Carter is confused, then he uses what he knows will happen to show off, then he tries to change events, and finally he learns how to be a better person with the people around him - his sister, his daughter, and of course, Allison.

And what a day it was - Allison's wedding day to Nathan.
And what a surprising ending.  If you haven't seen it catch it this Tuesday at 8 pm ET before the next new episode runs at 9 pm.

Tina!

Thanks for reading this post today and please join us again for more photos and stories from the Comic Con!

The Leo Carrillo Ranch Part 3
Mood:  a-ok

The Leo Carrillo Ranch

Part 3

The Summer 2008 Friday Night Film Festival

Last night Tina and I went to the Leo Carrillo Ranch in Carlsbad California to take in one of the special Friday Night Film Festival shows starring Leo Carrillo!

For those that don't know who Leo Carrillo was, please see our previous blog posts by clicking Part 1 and Part 2.

Last night's festivities started with a picnic dinner, (bring your own or buy a Carrillo Combo consisting of hot dog, chips and soda), then a showing of a Cisco Kid TV Show episode, and then the Grand Finale!

The Cicso Kid episode last night was a humourous one, with an elephant as the main topic during the show. It was quite humourous and was an instant favorite with the crowd!

The 'Grand Finale' for this Friday Night  was the 1942 Film 'Escape From Hong Kong' where Leo was acting with Andy Devine, Marjorie Lord and Don Terry.

Others in the cast were: Gilbert Emery, Frank Puglia, Frank Kelly, and Paul Dubov.

The names might not be familar, but those that grew up watching 1950's TV Shows would recognize several of these actors!

So what was this short film, (60 minutes long), about?

Well, it truly was a "classic escapade filled with espionage against an Oriental backdrop" as it is reported to be!

The film included a Japanese attack on Hong Kong, German secret agents,  a Japanese spy posing as a Chinese rich man, and other WWII shennaigans including America's being attacked on December 7th!

Tina thought it was a good that the three cowboys from the USA were in Hong Kong at the start of the War, they were like 'fish out of water' in an unusual surrounding she said.

I enjoyed seeing the film, Leo played Pancho, in  a role similar to the 'Pancho' that he played in the Cisco Kid TV show about ten years later.

It was very interesting how the Germans and Japanese were referred to at the end of the movie, but then again this was at the start of WWII after America had been bombed at Pearl Harbor. Interesting 'historical' movie, yet entertaining.

I'm not for sure how many more we will take in this summer festival period, but I am looking forward to the 'Lillian Russell' film from 1940, where Leo Carrillo also had a big role in it!

BTW, We don't show films here, although we do have an occasional DVD for sale here, but we do have an ongoing Comic Con  and Pop Culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Did You Also Miss Adrienne?

You Know, Adrienne Barbeau the Writer!

If you missed seeing Adrienne Barbeau at the San Diego Comic Con in July 2008, you have another chance to see her as she is promoting her new book, 'Vampryes of Hollywood'!

Adrienne, also known for her acting of course(!), will be at the Los Angeles Science Fiction and Comic Book Convention very soon!

She will be appearing there September 14th from 12:00 PM (noon) to 2:00 PM at the Shrine Center in Los Angeles.

Adrienne will sign her autograph on all copies of the book if purchased at the Con, and there was no mention of obtaining any other autographs...This would be in addition to the entrance fee of $8.00 to enter the Con.

Adrienne is best known for her roles in 'Escape From New York', 'Creepshow', 'War Wolves', and of course 'Swamp Thing'!  She also had a long run on the 'Maude' TV Show!

BTW, We also have an ongoing Comic Con  and Pop Culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Thanks for reading this post today and please join us again!
