Comic Con Goddess No More!
Mood:  d'oh
Topic: Comic Cons

Comic Con

 "Goddess"

 No More!

From The SDCC Comic Con International 2008!

For my first Comic Con in 2001 I enjoyed 'Goddess' status as the only female in line for about as far as I could see. For most panels I attended with Michael I was the only woman in the audience.

Times sure have changed!

And, not just in Hollywood Hall H.  Sure the Hall H celebrity movie and TV panels are attracting the lionshare of the female audience.

But women - especially younger ones - are storming the exhibit floor with a vengeance snapping up swag and buying up collectibles.

And look out next year - the "ladies" are more likely to throw you an illegal elbow!

What are women interested in at Comic Con?

The "Twilight" movie based on a series of four vampire books of the same title, manga, toys and figurines, manga, movie freebies, Heroes, manga, LOST, oh - did I say manga?

Ladies if you couldn't make it to comic Con, we threw a few elbows of our own and snapped up some items that might interest you:  Bleach, Mirror's Edge (upcoming film), Chuck NBC TV Show Promo Comic, Bioncle Comic, Comic Con Program Book, BrickMaster Lego Magazine, Clockwork Girl Comic, Wizard Magazine with Christian Bale Dark Knight Cover, and more!

Just click on the photo at the top right to see all of our current listings... plus more to come!

Tina!

BTW... We also have an ongoing Comic Con  and Pop Culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Thanks for reading this post today and please join us again!

Even though Tina's 'status' has diminished in her eyes at the SDCC Comic Con since 2001, she still is a 'godess' among wives to me!  Also, the 1st year Tina attended the Comic Con, (2001), it had reached 51,000 in number of attendance. This year it had to surpass 125,000 due to 'Hollywood' coming down in force since 2001! (Michael)

For all of our currently listed  2008 & prior Comic Con promos and buttons and other goodies...  just click on the photo above! We will be listing more we purchased from the 2008 SDCC in the days to come... take a look at how much we picked up by clicking here at our earlier post!

Presidential Campaign Turns into Star Wars!

Presidential Campaign Turns into Star Wars!

At Seen At The 2008 SDCC Comic Con  International!

We're not talking about "rock star" candidate Barack Obama -- or the new McCain attack ad!  No, we're talking real Star Wars.

We picked up these two really cool buttons at the Star Wars Comic Con   booth.

My vote is for Obi-Wan:  Save us Obi-Wan Kenobe. Save us! You're our only hope!

I think Michael's voting for Darth Vader.  He likes his theme music!  Seriously he does.  When he has to motivate himself, he hums it!

Who is your choice?  If you act fast you can grab your fav's campaign button by clicking here.  Is it Obi-Wan or Vader?

Tina!

Hugh Jackman Brings Wolverine to Comic Con!

Hugh Jackman Brings Wolverine to Comic Con!

During The 2008 SDCC Comic Con International!

To the surprise and sheer delight of Comic Con fans, Hugh Jackman took the Hall H stage in between panels to tell us about X-Men Origins: Wolverine (May 1, 2009).

One minute we were in our seats hearing a message about a delivery from Quantas Airlines.  The next moment we realized we'd somehow leapt to our feet and were screaming like a teenager along with 6,500 fans.

A jet-lagged but excited Jackman strode the stage thanking the fans for their support.  Having flown all night to get there, he wouldn't miss showing us some Wolverine footage and giving a heart-felt thanks to Len Wein for creating the Wolverine character.  He bound from the stage to find Wein in the studio representatives seating and shake his hand.  As Jackman said, "Without you I wouldn't have a career."

Calling the movie "bad ass" Jackman let the trailer roll.  The fans roared to see Wolverine on screen again - and kicking butt.  Big cheers for the appearance of Deadpool.  To be truthful, there was a constant roaring from the audience as each new scene unfolded on screen.

I haven't heard that much screaming and cheering since Iron Man first took flight at Comic Con '07. Could Wolvie be as big a hit?  From the looks of Hugh Jackman (and that man has looks!) and the fans' reaction, I'd say yes!

Tina!

Kooky 'Kook' The Pig...

And The Morning After

Spending All Week At The 2008 SDCC Comic Con International!

Kooky, Tina and Michael in line for 'Preview Night'!

As seen above, Tina and I enjoyed escorting Kooky 'Kook' The Pig to the Biggest Comic Con  in North America for all 5 days of the convention.

This is the last blog post of her time with us (make_it_so_marketing) as she was laid gently into her shipping bed box, shipped via USPS, and arrived safely to bushellcollectibles on the East Coast yesterday, Thursday....

This final blog post is about the aftermath of spending 5 days and 4 nights at the Comic Con with over 125,000 other attendees.

The pictures and text in the right column of this blog post shows what happens when you attend special programs about upcoming theatrical films, attend TV Show preview panels, and pick up promotional items at the Comic Con!

For those of you new to this blog post series on Kooky 'Kook' the eBay Blog Pig, she was started by eBayer saenzmom in honor of fellow eBayer innerkookart, (Kook)!

Kooky 'Kook' has had a great time with us, has shared her experiences at this convention, and now with this last blog post from us, we wind down with blog post #15 of this serial posting....

So sit back and enjoy the final photos and text in the right column from this blog post series!

Note: You can 'right click' the photos, then copy and paste the 'properties' (url) of the pic to a new browser window, and then see larger photos of Kooky!

For those of you interested in upcoming films and TV Show promotional items, we invite you to check back later on our blog posts  when we'll be listing promotional items received at the programs and blogging about what we've seen there this year!  Tina and I split up to take in more programs to blog about... EUReKA, Hugh Jackman in from Australia with Wolverine trailer, Heroes, Lost, Terminator: Salvation, Star Wars Campaign Buttons, and Red Sonja just to name a few!!

BTW, We also have an ongoing Comic Con  and Pop Culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and latest listings of items for sale!

Thanks for reading this post today and please join us again in the future for more...

We will be  back to our regularly scheduled blog posts of the programs and costumed characters we encountered during all 5 days and nights of the Comic Con after this one final Kook blog post!

Approximately half of the boxes shown are full of promotional items, while the rest are purchases that have to be inventoried, graded and then listed in our eBay Store. Where's Kook when you need additional help in processing all of the above?  Why she's on the East Coast going to a BBQ!

The photo to the right shows Kooky looking at the Terminator: Salvation t-shirts that were the 'prize' for getting to Hall H with 6,300 other attendees. Of course to do so, our line buddies had to get there at 2:00 AM PST to be in the first 300 in line!

Kooky 'Kook' The Pig Had A Send Off....

Kooky 'Kook' The Pig

Had A Send Off Dinner....

From Porkyland, San Diego!

After Spending All Week At The 2008 SDCC Comic Con International!

Kooky Wonders... Dare I Go IN??!

Tina and my Annual Comic Con  Closing Dinner takes place after 5:00 PM on the final day of the Con, Sunday.

That is... sometime after 5:00 PM PST, as quite often we are carrying out boxes of last minute purchases from other dealers at the Con!

This year we finished at 5:00 PM as our vehichle was full, and only room left for Kook!

Since we eat just convention food all 5 days and nights except for snacks we bring in, we always leave Sunday Night for our Big Treat!

Our three favorite End of Con Places to eat are: Fillippi's Pizza Grotto in Little Italy - Downtown San Diego if we get there early enough, Todai (sushi) in Mission Valley if we have enough time, or Porkyland if we are way tooo tired and just plain hungry!

This year Kooky 'Kook' The Pig joined us at Porkyland... check out her expression in the top photo of this column for posted hours! She wanted to know if we really wanted to go in with her!!!

For those of you new to this blog post series on Kooky 'Kook' the eBay Blog Pig, she was started by eBayer saenzmom in honor of fellow eBayer innerkookart!

Kooky has had a great time with us and is winding down sharing her experiences at this convention with this, her next to last blog post...

So sit back and enjoy the almost final photos in the right column from this blog post series!

Note: You can 'right click' the photos, then copy and paste the 'properties' (url) of the pic to a new browser window, and then see larger photos of Kooky!

Kooky 'Kook' The Pig and Tina outside of Porkyland in the Barrio Logan section of San Diego.... Kook was getting counseling on how to brave the stress of actually entering 'Porkland' by Tina. It took Kooky some time before she would enter, but she too was ravenous after eating only Convention Center food all week!

The photo to the top left is Kooky when the refried beans, Spanish rice, and tortillas came to the table!

The photo to the right shows Kooky realizing she could eat everything except the 'carnitas', a fancy word for shredded pork!

After almost being eaten by The Werewolf and The Cat at the Convention, (see previous blog posts), Kook was pleased that she didn't end up on the menu!

Click here to see our current COMIC CON Listings... we got 'em by the boxful this year!

Kooky 'Kook' The Pig realizing that the 'carnitas' plate is really 'shredded pork' and that Michael loved carnitas and tequila for dinner.... That's when she realized her flight to bushellcollectibles back on the East Coast was none too soon!
