Batman and The Joker Rule This Halloween Season!
Mood:  caffeinated
Topic: Comic Book Movies

Batman And The Joker Rule This Halloween Season!

It's that time of year when children, (and a lot of adults!), dress up in silly or scary outfits and beg for candy!

Yes, it's time for Halloween which explains the stack of catalogs and store circulars in our mail box this week featuring ghoulish costumes, decorations, and candy.

So, what characters look like they'll be the most popular this year - okay besides, Sarah Palin/Tina Fey?

Batman and the Joker, of course!

With the Joker, we're definitely talking Heath Ledger version, forget Cesar Romero!  I hope we don't have any little Jokers trick or treating at our house - that makeup on a seven-year-old -- too creepy!

Warner Brothers is even sponsoring a "Help Batman Keep the Joker in Jail" contest.  The winner gets a VIP tour of Warner Brothers studios.

Who are you going as this Halloween?

Batman?

The Joker?

Superman?

Invisible Woman? (How easy you stay home - no one sees you!)

Daredevil?

Elvira?

Elvira... Queen Of Halloween!

(Michael's favorite to see at parties!)

The Thing?

Let us know.  And happy trick or treating!

If you're looking for Batman comics...  We've got some terrific ones.

Plus, we have a ton of ghoulish HoRRoR comics that are right in season!

For those of you that are new to our blog today, we have an ongoing 'Comic Con and Pop Culture Show' ourselves here at "Make It So Marketing Inc.", what with our daily blog posts and new listings of items for sale in our online store!

Thanks for reading this blog post today, and please join us again for more!

The Heath Ledger version of the Joker is looking very 'popular' for Halloween costumes this year. At least from all the catalogs we are receiving!

So Why The Emphasis On Comic Cons???
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: Comic Cons

So Why The Emphasis On Comic Cons This Week?

That question was asked via email after my blogging about several Comic Cons that are coming up the rest of this year.

I thought that a blog post as a reply with photos would be a good answer! So here are just a few reasons why, (in no particular order)!

Click Here To See the Marvel Universe that Stan Lee co-created!

I get my treasured comics signed by the creators, (like Stan Lee signing my Fantastic Four #1 above).

Click Here To See The SHE-HULK and her cousin THE HULK listings!

I can get my photo taken with my favorite comic book characters, (if I'm lucky!).

Click Here To See Our TV & Movie listings!

I get to see some of my favorite TV Stars from shows I used to watch, like Connie Selleca above!

Click Here To See all of our current listings!

I get to see cast members and preview episodes of upcoming TV Shows, like Knight Rider above!

The above are just a few reasons why I enjoy blogging and attending Comic Cons (and Pop Culture Cons)! For those of you that are new to our blog today, we also have an ongoing 'Comic Con and Pop Culture Show' ourselves here at "Make It So Marketing Inc.", what with our daily blog posts and new listings of items for sale in our online store!

Thanks for reading this blog post today, and please join us again for more!

I've been attending Comic Cons since 1970... Above is a photo of me at the 1973 San Diego Comic Con, where I set up as a 'dealer' for all three days when it was held at the Sheraton Hotel, Harbor Island, San Diego.

So Why the Emphasis on Comic Cons?

Because it's a good 'habit', and one I've been doing for 38 years now! I see no reason to stop just because I'm older... I'm still a 'big kid'!  Plus I'm extremely 'lucky' that Tina, my wife, wants to go, sometimes even more so than I do! LOL !

You should try to attend one... they range from one day to four day shows, with and without panels/programs, with and without multiple guests. But each in their own way has something to offer comics and pop culture fans!

Forrest J Ackerman

On The Cover Of Rue Morgue

Issue #83!

Being a 'Facebook Friend' of Forrest J Ackerman, I was notified about his being on the cover of the latest issue of this magazine now on sale!

Forrest, (pictured below at his home), is featured in a Gogos portrait for this special issue's cover, see top right pic.

Click Here To See Our Blog Post On Forrest J Ackerman!

Forrest celebrated his 50th Anniversary of 'Famous Monsters of Filmland' Magazine by attending the 2008 Comic Con International in San Diego. Just click on his photo above to see our archived blog post regarding that appearance.

This special cover issue of the 'Rue Morgue' magazine has more than just Forry in it! Some of the articles featured are:

FAMOUS MONSTER
Famous Monsters of Filmland hit newsstands in 1958. Here is a conversation with founding editor Forrest J Ackerman.

THE SIMPSONS VAULT OF TERROR
Once a year The Simpsons is taken over by The Treehouse of Horror Halloween special. Time to take stock of nearly two decades of hilariously blood-curdling cartoons.
by Philip Brown

SHOCKWAVES: A CLASSIC HORROR RADIO ROUNDUP
Gather 'round the wireless and set your transistors for terror as Rue Morgue explores the sinister chills and thrills of yesteryear’s audio plays.
by Richard Gavin

DOUG BRADLEY'S DEADTIME STORIES
Everyone’s favourite cenobite tackles Lovecraft in a new type of audio book.
by James Grainger

If you are a Forrest J Ackerman fan, this is one special issue you won't want to miss! We currently don't stock this special issue, but wanted to bring it to your attention as it is on the newstand right now!

Going To Puerto Rico In 2009 ?
Mood:  caffeinated
Topic: Comic Cons

Puerto Rico

ComicCon & Pop Culture Expo

May 2-3, 2009!

One of the great things about Comic Cons is the opportunity to get involved if you want to...

Whether it is to act as a volunteer at the event, or be part of the organizing, or just participate in the masquerade if it has one.

Of course it is also fun to just attend!

The Puerto Rico Comic Con & Pop Culture Expo doesn't happen until next May 2009, but these shows take a while to be put into place!

The Con organizers have set up a web site, a Facebook account, and started to get the word out about what to expect from their Con....

I will blog more this Comic Con and Pop Culture Expo as additional details come in...

The Announced Guest List so far includes:

Comic Book creator Mark Texeira

Anime Voice actor Vic Mignognay

Renee Witterstaetter Comic Book Editor and more!

There is no mention on whether or not there are any panels or programs at this convention....

If you live on the island and have wanted to attend a comic convention, this could be the one to get you into the 'comics world' if you aren't already...

If you are going to Puerto Rico or neighboring islands during this time period, you might want to plan to stop in...

For those of you that are new to our blog today, we also have an ongoing 'Comics Show and Pop Culture Convention' ourselves here at "Make It So Marketing Inc.", what with our daily blog posts and new listings of items for sale in our online store!

Thanks for reading this blog post today, and please join us again for more!

Nothing For The Trick Or Treaters ?!
Mood:  quizzical
Topic: eBay Info

Then Try...

Trick Or Treat

 Comics

For Halloween

October 31st, 2008!

It's nearing that time of year again...

Get ready for those Trick Or Treaters in your neighborhood!

As we have done in prior years, Tina and I are listing comics for 99 cents at auction or $1.00 at fixed price in our eBay Featured Store for this special day!

Why?  Instead of passing out candy to increase cavities... we suggest passing out a comic book to increase reading!

You can purchase these $1.00 fixed price listed comics right now and have them shipped to Your USA address (only) for $4.99 unlimited shipping!

So for example 5 comics @ $1.00 plus the $4.99 shipping would be $9.99 total for 5 comics which is an average cost of $1.998 each.

Or... 20 comics @ $1.00 each plus the $4.99 shipping would be $24.99 for an average cost of $1.2495 each!

Or 50 comics totalling $54.99 that would average $1.0998 each!

(Note: California buyers would have to add sales tax on any purchases!)

Depending on the trick or treaters' ages, (for age appropriateness), you could even use these for Halloween Party favors!

Just click on the top right comic book cover to see over 300 comics that are 99 cents on auction or $1.00 for buy it now listings!

No limit to how many of these can be shipped to an USA address.

Please Note: This is for comic books only; magazines, stickers, graphic novels, DVDs etc cannot be included in the $4.99 shipping 'special', AND this is for USA addresses only!

We will be adding more listings in the days to come, so check back with us!

These comics will be shipped USPS Priority mail, so allow enough time to get there after paying for them!

Thanks for reading this blog post today, and please join us again!

~ Michael (and Tina)

Note: If you are involved in comics or other pop culture genre, and have an upcoming comic book, graphic novel or other release or are holding an upcoming convention that may be of interest to us and / or our blog readers, feel free to email us!
