Happy Birthday To Batton Lash !

Happy Birthday To Batton Lash!

October 29th is Batton Lash's Birthday!

Previously I have blogged about his newest book, which is out in time for Halloween! (See below pic for that blog post!)

Are YOU ready for More Tales of Supernatural Law?!

Today, I'm taking the time to wish him a 'Happy Birthday' here and on his Facebook page!

Batton is the creator, writer/artist of the long-running comics feature, "Supernatural Law" (featuring Wolff & Byrd, Counselors of the Macabre),
as well as its spin-off, "Supernatural
Law Secretary Mavis" (featuring Wolff & Byrd's intrepid office manager).

Batton also wrote the adventures of Bart Simpson's favorite hero, "Radioactive Man" for Bongo Comics.... (see below comic book cover!)

In addition to the above mentioned series, he is now working on a mini-series for Archie Comics.

So here's congrats to a hard working creator on his birthday, and here's to many more special days for him!

Cartoon Movie Night with Kim Deitch: October 30th, 2008

Cartoon Movie Night with:

Kim Deitch

 October 30th, 2008!

I just received notice about this special evening from Ellen S. Abramowitz!

The evening is in addition to the special exhibition featuring Kim Deitch's work that is running from September 9th to December 5th, 2008.

Details about Cartoon Movie Night with Kim Deitch as follows:

October 30th, 7 PM, Kim Deitch will host a Cartoon Movie Night featuring rarely seen animated cartoons from the 1920s and 1930s hand-picked for the occasion from Deitch’s own personal collection.

This period of animation inspired Deitch’s signature character Waldo the Cat and is the subject of his acclaimed graphic novel The Boulevard of Broken Dreams, which is featured in the exhibit.

As a special Halloween treat, MoCCA will also display for one night only selected specimens from Deitch and spouse Pam Butler’s extensive collection of antique toy cats.

The blurring of fact, fiction and autobiography in Deitch’s work is a major focus of Kim Deitch: A Retrospective, and this display will present a rare opportunity to see the historical artifacts that motivate the fictional narrative in Deitch’s graphic novel Alias the Cat!

Tina and I were able to see this Museum briefly on our last trip to the area.

Trust me on this one... there is so much to see, that you will want to allocate more time to see this Museum, even if you can't stop in on this special evening!

For those of you that are new to our blog today, we also have an ongoing 'Comics Con and Pop Culture Show' ourselves here at "Make It So Marketing Inc.", what with our daily blog posts and new listings of items for sale in our online store!

Thanks for reading this blog post today, and please join us again for more!

It's Been Only Two Weeks As Of Today....

When We Hit the 250,000 Visitors Mark.  Since Then We Have Added 10,000 More Visitors!

So we just want you to know that we appreciate each and every one of you that have visited our Blog since we started counting visitors back on July 15th, 2006!

That number is based on 260,000 actual visitors. That is not counting the over 780,000 page views to date that eBay has counted since eBay added on a 'page counter' only, back in mid-2007.

That was a year after we had added a visitor counter, since eBay had not provided one with their blog format back in June 2006 when we started. We were curious where our blog visitors were finding us at, and what blog posts were popular, so we added stats!

Tina and I are very pleased with the readership to our daily blog posts seen in two versions, the eBay and our own domain name version.  Those  posts  have ranged from blogging on comics to TV Shows to movies to other pop culture topics!

For those of you that are new to our blog today, we have an ongoing 'Comic Con and Pop Culture Show' ourselves here at "Make It So Marketing Inc.", what with our daily blog posts and new listings of items for sale in our online store!

Thanks for reading this blog post today, and please join us again for more as look forward to our next Quarter of a Million Plus Visitors!

One-Hundred And Twenty Seven Years Ago....

One-Hundred And Twenty Seven Years Ago....

Yesterday, October 26th, 2008, marked the 127th Anniversary of the 'Gunfight At the O.K. Corral' in Tombstone Arizona back in 1881!

Tina and I were so busy with Church, 'Trunk or Treat', and the Phillies Game later on TV, that I missed blogging about this fact yesterday!

Long time readers of our Blog will know that I am a TV Westerns fan, and of course bought every Comic Book that had a TV Western Show Photo Cover during the 1950's thru the mid 1970's during that Comics Genre's Heydays. (See below pic for just one of them!)

Click Here To See Our Current WESTERN Comics & Magazines listed for sale!

Wyatt Earp, his two brothers, and 'Doc' Holliday confronted Ike Clanton's gang 127 years ago. Three members of Clanton's group were killed, Earp's brothers and Holliday were wounded.

Tina and I of course had to stop in Tombstone when were in Tucson for a convention a few years ago. We were able to see a live 're-enactment' of the famous gunfight there as well as see the Birdcage Theatre.

A year ago, Tina, my great-uncle Howard and I visited the Autry National Center in Los Angeles, which has a special room that features the same gunfight, with audio and lighting effects. (See top right column for photo.)

Of course, Tina and I couldn't help ourselves, and got tooo much into spirit of the 'Wild West' there and found ourselves in the Autry Museum's Jail... (see below!).

Anyways, I just couldn't let the 127th  Anniversary of this famous gunfight go by without a mention.

Heck, I still remember when Star Trek: TOS - had an episode where they were part of the famous "Gunfight"!

Wyatt Earp, his brothers, and Doc Holiday are shown above in the replay of the 'Gunfight At the OK Corral', as portrayed at the Autry Western Museum in Los Angeles. The scene is in a special room and overhead lights go on and off as each figure takes turns "talking".

Spider-Man Makes an Appearance at Halloween Trunk or Treat

Spider-Man Makes an Appearance at Halloween Trunk or Treat!

Michael and I had a ton of fun today dressing up my red sportscar for Spider-Man's appearance at our church's Halloween "Trunk or Treat." (See top right photo.)

If you're not familiar with the concept, the adults park their cars in a row, trunks out so the kids can go from trunk to trunk trick or treating.  Like many of the parents we decorated our car.  But, as comic book fans, we stood out with our Amazing Spider-Man theme.

While everyone else had spooky Halloween themes, we decorated our trunk with a big Spider-Man beach towel, a spider web, and a bunch of Spider-Man cards and decals.  We had Spider-Man masks and T-shirts too!

Why Spidey?  He's the favorite comic book superhero of Michael's son, Vinnie, (see below pic).  Vinnie looked awesome in his Spider-Man mask and T-shirt, and had a ton of fun collecting candy with the rest of the kids.

Michael and I had a ball handing out candy, some of which was Marvel super-hero sweet tarts depicting Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, The Thing and Spider-Man.  I enjoyed showing the kids the Spider-Man stickers so they could chose their own.  Most popular for boys and teenagers: the sticker showing Spidey in his black costume, of course.

We also put a few Amazing Spider-Man comics on display.  Next year, I want to bring the laptop and show one of the Spider-Man movies or play the Spider-Man theme song!  Until then, we've got Spidey's web stretch across our front door and a bunch of Spider-Man faces holding it in place. Here's hoping some little super-heroes come by for Halloween!

Happy trick or treating,
