They're Coming.... Getting

Closer....  Closer... Closer... Closer... Closer... Closer!

Only One Week From Today Until The 2008 SDCC Comic Con  International Programs Open On 'Preview Night'!

I am still reviewing the Comic Con  International's web site this for their 2008 programming schedule.

The grid map schedule is printed in the Program Schedule that is handed out when an attendee picks up their membership badge.

While waiting in line to get in for 'Preview Night' on Wednesday July 23rd, Tina and I will be 'hi-liting' the programs on that master schedule from our copy and paste sheets.

There are several programs that caught my eye as a 'maybe' program to attend!

Of course my list is different than Tina's but here are just a few I am hoping on attending if they don't conflict with another program:

Wednesday July 23rd 'Preview Night' - For the 1st time ever,  a special event, with the new 'Fringe' TV Show Pilot being premiered. This is a show that Tina and I are thinking of watching the next season...

Thursday July 24th - Spotlight on Noel Neill, 30th Anniversary Battlestar Galactica Panel, Knight Rider the new TV Series, Mark Evanier & Sergio Aragones, Red Sonja's new Film, TwoMorrows Publishing Today, Golden and Silver Age of Comics panel hosted by Mark Evanier, Showtime: Dexter, The Comics Blogosphere, Star Wars Fan Film Awards, Kung Fu Extravaganza!

Looks like I'll be busy Thursday for sure! For those of you that can't make it... be sure to come back to our blog for updates after the Con!

We also have an ongoing Comic Con  and Pop Culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Thanks for reading this post today and please join us again!

Question On Signed Comics....

Question On Signed Comics....

This morning I signed on to my laptop and found the following question asked by a fellow eBayer in my popup eBay Toolbar:

Hello, If this particular item #6, (note: Quantum Leap Comic Book #6), was signed at a convention by (a) Scott Bakula (b)Dean Stockwell or (c) both stars, what would the value increase to?

Thanks

My reply: There isn't a true price guide for 'raw' unslabbed signed comics.

Right now on eBay there are 14 QL comics signed by George Broderick ranging from $7.95 to $9.95 with no COA.

The only problem is how does a buyer know it truly was signed by George?

Same goes for a comic signed by Scott or Dean without a COA(Certificate Of Authenticity).

To some collectors a 'signature' ruins the comic, especially if it was signed on the cover instead of on the inside splash page.

To others that are not collectors of comics, but just fans of the show or the star, then the signed comic could be of value. The question is.... what value?

And would you get that 'value' when attempting to sell it via a 5 or 7 or 10 day auction listing on eBay?

A seller would have to depend on that certain someone(s) that would like to have that item seeing the listing in that 5 - 10 window of opportunity.

Out of 365 days in a year! What are the odds on that??

That is why having an eBay Store to place the item in for the price you want to sell it at is the best value on eBay right now!

One last thing... The largest comic book grading company has a Yellow Label encapsulated series where they certify that a signature is what it is represented to be as they were there from the signing of the comic to it being graded and placed into the holder and sealed.

On the other hand, when we first started sending 'signed' comics by comics greats to CGC, those 'signed' comics were graded at a lesser grade and on a different color label were the words 'writing on cover' which lowered the perceived 'value' of the comic.

All the above being said, and also being a Scott and Dean fan, as well as being a fan of QL, I wouldn't start the auction at less than $24.99 even though issue #6 of the QL comic book series is the most 'common' of the series. Good luck!

Addendum to my above email reply:

There wasn't enough characters left in the reply box to add the following:

In the past two weeks there were a total of 6 items signed by Scott Bakula that were listed and closed on eBay.

Only one of the six items had a bid. There were 13 bids with the final bid at $100.00 for
a 'Romance Romance' Cast Recording signed by Scott Bakula.  Which is a very popular
item for Scott fans!

The other 5 items languished at $3.01 to $9.95 even though they
had a COA....

However there is a twist in 'signed' with COA items now... some of those items had COAs for 'preprinted'
signatures, which means they are copies of the original photo and a copy of the signature!

Sheesh!! That means that neither the photo OR the signature is original!

Anyway, I am blogging this today because we welcome questions on our comics OR even your comics! Feel free to email us!

BTW, we have an ongoing Comic Con  and Pop Culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Wendy Pini Of Elfquest / Red Sonja Costumed Attendee Fame...
Mood:  d'oh

Wendy Pini

Will Be At The

 2008 SDCC Comic Con  International!

One program that caught my eye as a 'maybe' program would be the Wendy Pini / Elfquest Program being held on Sunday July 27th. The following is the program note:

1:30-2:30 30 Years of Pointed Ears: Elfquest Join Comic-Con special guest Wendy Pini (Elfquest, Masque of the Red Death), Richard Pini (CEO Warp Graphics) and Rawson Thurber (director/writer/producer) for a visual presentation celebrating Wendy's pioneering career as writer/artist, plus—of course!—the upcoming Elfquest movie! Q&A for sure! Room 2

However my interest in going to see this program, however momentarily it would be, would be to see Wendy Pini herself.

Sure I've seen and read some Elfquest mags, but I've not been a big fan of that series, sorry.... There are after all a lot of different series out there, and no, a person can't collect them all!

As it is Tina has asked if I would sell some of my personal collections to make some room here, LOL!

Anyway, I've had an interest in Red Sonja that was in the Conan Marvel Comics Title, and read in previous websites, and actually seen a black and white small photo of Wendy Pini dressed up as Red Sonja back in her 'fan days' where she appeared at times with Frank Thorne (as the Wizard). Note: Frank Thorne used to draw the Red Sonja strip!

However, just this week I came across the photo shown at the top right column of this blog post, that was shared by Alan Light of CBG fame!

So I am sharing this photo, courtesy of Alan Light, and also mentioning that Wendy Pini will be promoting her new Elfquest Movie among other things at this Year's SDCC Comic Con  International! Note: Wendy is there to talk about Elfquest, NOT Red Sonja!

We also have an ongoing Comic Con  and Pop Culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Thanks for reading this post today and please join us again!

H.G. Wells' Version Of The End Of the World!
Mood:  happy
Topic: Comic Book History

H.G. Wells' Vision Of The End Of The World...

Was A Novel,

A Movie...

And A Marvel Comics Book Series!

The comic book feature of 'War Of The Worlds' based on HG Wells' vision was in a comic book series from Marvel Comics!

It ran in 'Amazing Adventures' #18 May 1973 to the last issue of the title #39 in November 1976.

Previously 'Amazing Adventures' had published the Black Widow & The Inhumans from issues #1 thru #8 with Jack Kirby  artwork on the Inhumans strip.

The Inhumans took over the book from  issues #9 - 10.

Then the Beast of the X-men was in issues #11-17 when he turned into the Blue Furry Beast.

The title had started in August 1970 before settling in and ending with Killraven of 'War of the Worlds'!

Quite often when titles like 'Amazing Adventures' change midstream in what genre of stories it is publishing, there is a loss of fans or readers for the book, and then it takes a while for new readers to find the title with the new direction the comic has taken!

That was the case with the run of 'War of the Worlds' stories in this title. Although it had really good art work, the title just never hit with the collectors' market, thus finding high grade comics of this run is hard to do!

We have an ongoing Comic Con  and Pop Culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Thanks for reading this post today and please join us again!

So Who's HOT In Our Archived Blog Posts Right Now? 07-15-08
Mood:  incredulous
Topic: Comic Book History

So Who's

'Hot'

 In Our Archived Blog Posts

Right Now?

No, It's NOT Laura Vandervoort or Bettie Page Or Teri Hatcher

Or Even Hancock or Indiana Jones...

No... This Time Right Now,  It's...

SHE-HULK?

Yeah... She-Hulk!

Regular Readers of our Blog know that I check our Blog Stats at least daily to see which of our archived blog posts bloggers are viewing!

The why has been explained in detail before, but suffice to say we have thousands of more items to list and it is always best to know what timely topic people are looking for and add items on that topic for sale in our online store!

But as of right now, the most viewed archived blog post we have, (out of over 1775 total), is the 'No, She's Not The Jolly Green Giant's Cousin!' archived Blog post of ours from September 30th 2007!

That blog post has been  viewed by an AMAZING 42% of our most recent viewership this morning! Only the Iron Man Film blog posts had that kind of percentages during its' opening weekend!

The She-Hulk blog has been an archived blog post that has had a fair share of bloggers viewing it, and I started to see some activity on it last night before shutting the laptop down, but not this much!

You would think that the most viewed archived blog post of ours would be on the 'Dark Knight' Batman film coming out this week, but no, it's about the She-Hulk, so there must be some news about her.... When I find it I'll blog about it here for sure!

Tina and I are pleased to say that this blog is now currently averaging over 725 visitors a day, and that this Blog, (both versions), has had several new RSS subscribers so far this week!

Welcome aboard to all those new readers! We're glad you found us and want to read more in the days ahead from us by subscribing to our RSS feed!

Also we extend our grateful thanks to our returning visitors!!!

For those that are new to us... we have an ongoing Pop Culture Convention - Comic Con here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Come back anytime! You are welcome to comment below when the comments option is open on the eBay blog version of our blog! (The non-eBay blog's comments are always open!)
