So Who's HOT In Our Archived Blog Posts Right Now? 07-02-08

So Who's

'Hot'

 In Our Archived Blog Posts

Right Now?

None Other Than...

Red Sonja!

Regular Readers of our Blog know that I check our Blog Stats at least daily to see what topics bloggers are viewing!

Currently this morning the most viewed archived blog post we have, (out of over 1750 total), is the announcement that Rose McGowan will be the next Red Sonja in the 2010 Film of the same name!

So why is this archived blog post so 'Hot' right now?

As we have blogged about the past two years, there have been several actresses proposed as a good update on Brigitte Nielsen's prior 1985 performance in this role.

Additionally there have been several scripts presented, to no avail. Finally it appears that both a script and an actress have been found that should meet the requirements of finally going into pre-production mode!

Tina and I are pleased to say that this blog is currently averaging over 700 visitors a day right now, and that this Blog, (both versions), has had several new RSS subscribers so far this week!

Welcome aboard to all those new readers! We're glad you found us and want to read more in the days ahead from us by subscribing to our RSS feed!

For those new to us... we have an ongoing Pop Culture Convention - Comic Con here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale! Come back anytime!

Engineer Bill's Red Light... Green Light Glass!
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: TV Shows

Engineer Bill's

Red Light... Green Light...

Glass!

(Engineer Bill Collectibles!)

Back on April 27th 2008 I blogged about Engineer Bill and what fun I had watching his show.

Then on June 27th 2008 I received an email from a reader of that archived blog post, who has one of the rare 'Red Light - Green Light Glasses' on auction right now till July 3rd 2008!

This is an update on our earlier post of June 27th to let you know that the rare glass is now up to $41.00 with only a little over 2 days left to go on the auction!

Andy aka eBayer android007 has listed a glass on item listing number 230265881971 that is scheduled to end July 3rd 2008 18:42:33 PDT unless he takes a BIN offer before that!

Below is a repost of the blog that Andy found us at:

"One of the earliest things I can remember from my childhood was when my dad, who was in the Navy, was stationed in Long Beach.

It was during that time that Engineer Bill (Stulla) hosted a kid's TV show on KHJ Channel 9 in Los Angeles.

He was a favorite TV show host during the 1950's and 1960's.

His show was broadcast on every week day about when school had been out for a while, with enough time to get home to watch his show.

What really stuck out in my memory was his 'Red Light - Green Light' portion of the show, where my brother and I would drink, stop, drink, and so on when he would say 'green light' for us kids to drink the milk out of the glass, and 'red light' to stop drinking!

Some of the things that stick in your mind don't always make sense years later, but it was here that I found that drinking and eating what's good for you was fun!

By the way, other local televised kid's shows of Los Angeles during that time were  Sheriff John(Rovick), Chucko the Clown, and Bozo the Clown.

I don't remember many 'National' shows that I watched during that time but one for sure was Captain Kangaroo seen in black and white format.

I was recently emailed asking if we had any more Engineer Bill collectibles for sale, from a reader who saw my previous blog post on Engineer Bill . We don't, and I noticed there is a dearth of them on eBay! So anyone out there with some to possible list, let us know and we'll blog about for you!"

The above offer still stands, and we'll do the same for you that we are doing here today for Andy and his listing 230265881971 that is scheduled to end July 3rd 2008 18:42:33 PDT!

For those of you new to us, we have an ongoing pop culture - comics convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post and please visit our blog again!

Do You Ungawa??
Mood:  quizzical
Topic: Other Movie Genres

Do You Ungawa?

So.... What exactly is 'Ungawa' ??

This word was Tarzan's favorite word in the six films that Johnny Weissmuller starred in.

The word actually was a verb in most cases. To go, to do, go, go now, come here, do it, etc etc...

While waiting for Season 3 of 'The West Wing' to come in, I rented 'The  Tarzan Collection' for Tina and myself to view.

She originally thought what the heck is he renting this for... but I explained I had only see a few scenes from the movies.

Additionally we just picked up a Tarzan collection that was listed last week, so the  Tarzan DVD set jumped out at me at rental store!

THE TARZAN COLLECTION CONTAINS:

TARZAN THE APE MAN -  1932 - I give this a 8.5 score. Sensual and violent for 1932, but this was a pre-code film.

TARZAN AND HIS MATE - 1834 - I scored it a 9.0 it still holds up for viewing today.

TARZAN ESCAPES - 1936 - Not as good, when viewing this right after the other two films, you'll see the same film footage that was shown in the other films. Scored it 7.0

TARZAN FINDS A SON - 1939 - The origin of 'Boy' was pretty darn good! 8.0

TARZAN AND THE SECRET TREASURE - 1941 - The films are starting to feel 'formulaic' in manner, and you can see the same footage when the rhinos attack and the elephants save Tarzan. 7.0 Score.

TARZAN’S NEW YORK ADVENTURE - 1942 - The Sixth and LAST Tarzan feature film with Johnny Weissmuller and Maureen O'Sullivan. Scored 9.0.

I enjoyed this DVD set, and Tina was amused by several of the scenes in these films. All in all she enjoyed watching the set more than she thought she would have!

So... We really do watch more than just Sci-Fi and Comic Book Movies!

We have an ongoing Comic Con  and Pop Culture  Convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

It Was The Early Edition !
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: TV Shows

It Was The Early Edition!

This was more than just a 'cute' TV series that appealed to several million viewers while it ran from September 1996 to May of 2000.

It was an hour long TV Drama Series with a 'Sci-Fi' element about a Chicago native  named 'Gary Hobson' who became a reluctant hero when his morning newspaper starting showing up with 'tomorrow’s headlines' today!

Gary was a commodities trader who was on a losing streak... losing his job, his home and his brilliant attorney wife!

He even thought that he was losing his mind when tomorrow’s newspaper mysteriously arrived today,  giving him a disconcerting look into the future.

What would he do with tomorrow’s news? That was the big question at first!

While his best friend Chuck, (played by Fisher Stevens), saw the newspaper as a ticket to personal gain, Marissa (played by Shanesia Davis) convinced Gary that the “early edition” should be used to better peoples’ lives.

So each episode would go through what Gary should do or could do, due to receiving the 'early edition'.

It wasn't as 'corny' or as 'cutesy' as it the above sounds. It did however start to wear off for me near the end of the series, which was before all 90 episodes of the series aired.

For fans of this show or for those that never saw it, the First Season DVD was just released June 24th 2008!

We have an ongoing Comic Con  and Pop Culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Finally.... Red Sonja Is Coming!
Mood:  d'oh
Topic: Comic Book Movies

Finally.... Red Sonja Is Coming!

Well it will be a wait... as it isn't scheduled to be released until 2010, but at least it is on track finally!

The big news this weekend was that Rose McGowan has finally found a script that she like enough to bring to director Robert Rodriguez!

Robert was a co-director of 'Grindhouse' and also of 'Planet Terror'.

Rose was the Planet Terror zombie slayer and is Robert's real-life leading lady.

Red Sonja (Sonya) was a creation of REH, (Robert E Howard), and was brought to Marvel Comics in the Bronze Age of Comic Books!

Red Sonja was brought to the Big Screen back in 1985 by Brigitte Nielsen.

Since then there have been a few false starts, but it looks like 2010 will see the debut of the new Red Sonja!

We have noticed a resurgence of Conan the Barbarian Comics from Marvel Comics that featured Red Sonja, so there have been several speculators out there already grabbing copies of her appearances while they are less expensive!

Additionally Red Sonja had three series of her own from Marvel and has had a recent Dynamite Comics series.

I for one will be looking forward to this upcoming film!

We have an ongoing Comic Con  and pop culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

No, that's NOT Red Sonja... yet!  Red Sonja would be normally suited in a metal mesh bikini.  However that is Rose McGowan who will be portraying Red Sonja in the now scheduled 2010 Film!
