"Arnold" is Baaack at the Comic Con Terminator Movie Panel!
Mood:  d'oh
Topic: Comic Cons

"Arnold"

Is Baaack At The Comic Con Terminator Movie Panel!

During The SDCC Comic Con International 2008!

A highlight of Saturday's Hollywood Hall H panels was the leather-clad Arnold Schwarzenegger impersonator during the Q & A for Terminator: Salvation (Warner Bros).

His accent and inflection was so spot-on director Mick Jade couldn't stop laughing and invited the guy up on stage for more.  He kept the audience entertained and amazed us when he revealed what he does for a living - "I make roads and do some IT."  Too funny!  We'd figured he was a pro.

The comic relief was needed since the panel was rather boring - minus Christian Bale who was doing press in Japan for The Dark Knight.  We actually had to sit through Jade's calling him on his cell and getting voice mail!
Snooze...

The trailer looked hot and the Comic Con crowd really liked it - even more so the second time it was played.

The setting for this fourth installment in the Terminator franchise is the year 2018 post Judgement Day.  The look is very gritty, industrial, lots of new machines like "Hydrobots" and "Harvesters", doing well -- you guessed it -- to humans.

The story tells us how John Connor (Christian Bale) became the leader of the resistance movement.  We meet his wife and fellow warrior Kate (Bryce Dallas Howard, Gwen Stacy of Spider-Man 3).  We get to hear Connor's father, a much younger Kyle Reese (Anton Yelchin) say, "Come with me if you want to live."
(Very cool!)

The trailer makes the movie look promising, and I have to say the T-shirts are way cool.  Check em out by clicking here, as we have a couple for sale!

Line Buddies: The Colorful Characters of Comic Con!

Line Buddies:

The Colorful Characters of Comic Con!

As Found AT The SDCC Comic Con International 2008!

Some of the most colorful characters you meet at San Diego Comic Con aren't always in costume.  Sometimes they're sitting beside you in line.

Wednesday (Preview Night) we hooked up with one of our more memorable "Line Buddies" from years past - Hector from Tijuana.  Hector and his girlfriend Ana brave the lengthy US-Mexico border crossing every day to attend Comic Con.

Hector's a die-hard comics fan.  He's got a detailed and rather off-beat list of worst comic book movie adaptations ever so I was eager to hear his thoughts on Batman, The Dark Knight.  Well, he 'loved it' -- didn't think it was too long (as many fans are saying) -- he needed all of the story - he wanted more -- an 'A'!

Hector regaled us with stories of how he's trying to get his original comics format published in Mexico.  Says Hector: no one in Mexico wants anything from Mexico.  It's all Europe, US and Asia!  We'll keep you posted on his progress!

We passed the 4-hour line time each morning identifying the costumed characters parading nearby.  Hector has an encyclopedia-like knowledge of comic, SCI-FI, fantasy characters and knew all the ones that stumped Michael and I!

And fortunately for me, Hector works in a hospital in Mexico - because he adjusted my back on Saturday - which was sorely needed after three days of little sleep and lots of time camped out in line!

Tina!

Kooky 'Kook' The Pig's Look At The Inner Workings...
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: Comic Cons

Kooky 'Kook' The Pig's Look At The Inner Workings Of The Comic Con!

Kooky, Tina and Michael would be at the San Diego Convention before it was fully light out!

The above photo was taken in the early hours while arriving at the SDCC Comic Con.  The Con is the largest convention held in San Diego now, and the buildings bear banners during the week honoring that fact.

All three of us have arrived safely back from the San Diego Comic Con International that started last Wednesday afternoon, July 23rd 2008, with a 'Preview Night' Opening!

Kooky 'Kook' the eBay Blog Pig, started by saenzmom in honor of innerkookart, had a great time with us and will continue to share her experiences at this convention, the BIGGEST Comic Con in North America in several more blog posts yet to come!

So sit back and just enjoy a few photos in the right column from the Comic Con this year that Kooky is featured in!

Note: You can 'right click' the photos, then copy and paste the 'properties' (url) of the pic to a new browser window, and then see larger photos of Kooky!

For those of you interested in upcoming films and TV Show promotional items, we invite you to check back later on our blog posts  when we'll be listing promotional items received at the programs and blogging about what we've seen there this year!  Tina and I split up to take in more programs to blog about... EUReKA, Heroes, Lost, Terminator: Salvation, Twilight, and Red Sonja just to name a few!!

BTW, We also have an ongoing Comic Con  and Pop Culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and latest listings of items for sale!

Thanks for reading this post today and please join us again for more... some of the posts will be about Kook / Kooky the eBay Blog Pig, but the majority will be of the programs and of course the costumed characters we encountered during all 5 days and nights of the Comic Con!

Michael (Tina and Kooky!)

Kooky 'Kook' The Pig was very interested in how others came to the Comic Con, because traveling with us, she knew that the underground parking structure was filled to capacity by 6:30 A.M at the latest!

We explained to her that there were multiple shuttle buses that ran to the San Diego Convention Center from all the major hotels in Downtown San Diego. Each shuttle bus route would have its' own Route Color for easier remembering which line to stand in when leaving the Convention  Center each night.

The photo to the top left is Kooky sitting on the shuttle bus director's chair for the 'Green Route'. . The photo at the top right is Kooky in a close up shot in 'her' chair. She was considering traveling on the bus instead of waiting in line with us to get in. However I told her that the route, which included the Doubletree Downtown, Sheraton Suites, and the Courtyard by Marriott among others would be too long to travel and get back in time to get in with us... man does she have the 'wandering bug' this Summer!  She's looking forward to going to the East Coast to see bushellcollectibles next!

Click here to see our current COMIC CON Listings... we got 'em by the boxful this year!

Kooky 'Kook' The Pig wanted to know what all the boxes contained 'under the sails' at the San Diego Convention Center Sails Pavilion. We told her that those boxes contained all the items that needed to be stuffed into 'goodie bags' for new 'one-day membership attendees'.  She replied that she only wanted to 'stuff' herself, so she begged off on stuffing the bags!

Click Here For Signed Comics and Magazines that made it into our goody bags! Click Here for ALL of our CURRENT Listings... We have Thousands MORE to List That the security guards didn't confiscate!

Kooky watched all the 4-day badge holders come in to wait under the Sails Pavilion each morning, and then watched as the doors opened later for the one-day members filing in to get their badges printed at the booths behind her.  She wanted to make sure she wasn't part of the 'goody bag' to be passed out, so made sure she jumped into her travel bag we carried her in!

She thought about joining the 'Elite' Guard Staff, as shown in the top right photo, but decided she'd rather be a 'white shirt' supervisor instead of a 'red shirt' crew member. She remembered what happened to the crew members that would join Spock and Captain Kirk when they would beam down to a new planet... (and not come back!) !

Kooky also noticed all the banners that were hung around the Convention Center, i.e. the 'Samurai Girl' banner behind her in the right photo. I explained to her that 'Hollywood' really started 'invading' the Comic Con back in 2001, showing up more and more each year since then with TV Show Previews and Cast Members, and also previews of upcoming Films and Cast Members.  Hall 'H' could hold 6,500 attendees, IF you were among the earliest ones in the separate line just for that Hall! Which would be a problem as there were over 125,000 memberships sold for this Comic Con!

We're Happy EUReKA is Back!

We're Happy EUReKA is Back!

Moments From The SDCC Comic Con International 2008!

Surely the happiest panel at Comic Con 2008 was for SCI-FI's happiest show - Eureka!

Between the cast, the writers, and the fans - it was one happy crowd.  Of course, it might have had something to do with the ice cream the cast was passing out earlier from an old-fashioned "Eureka" ice cream truck.

Saturday afternoon's panel included Colin Ferguson (Sheriff Jack Carter), Salli Richardson-Whitfield (Allison Blake), Joe Morton (Henry Deacon), co-creator Jamie Paglia, and executive producer Charlie Craig.

We enjoyed a sneak peak at upcoming episodes showing a perplexed Allison in a wedding dress, plus new cast members: Carter's New Age sister, Lexi Carter and Eva Thorne "The Fixer."

Wildest fan reaction was to Fargo saying, "I haven't been this excited since the Buffy panel at Comic Con!"

We also got a chance to see the
extended version of the cast singing "Won't You Be My Neighbor?" which prompted a discussion of interest in a musical
episode.

Everyone wanted to do it except Colin Ferguson who can't sing!  So, naturally he's the lead in the "Neighbor" promo.

He revealed that the staff got him a little drunk so he'd sing his part!

Eagerly anticipated this season is the "Groundhog Day"-like episode where Carter keeps reliving his day. Fortunately for the female viewing audience, he starts the episode in a towel (Yeah!) so the scene is repeated about six times through the episode (double yeah!).

We also learned that while we won't see Allison in a towel, we will see her and Carter together -- naked!

This season look for:

--Zoe to get a job at Carpe Diem

--Lupo and Zane to get back together

--More history about the town and its characters

--Taggart will return in later part of the season

--Fargo to have a love interest (this IS a fantasy show!)

--Both Joe Morton and Colin Ferguson will each direct an episode

--SARAH (the Carter family house) just might malfunction again!

Interesting reveals:

--The physical effects on the show are done by one guy running around pulling pulleys!

--While driving back from filming, Colin Ferguson stayed at Carter's Inn in Eureka, California. (Now that's a novel coincidence!)

--Lojack the dog in Season One was supposed to become invisible - which didn't work in the script so he was dropped

--During filming SARAH's lines are read off stage by a French Canadian guy

Michael's going to post this blog for me in the morning so I'm going to sign off now and get ready to watch the premiere episode of Season 3 of Eureka!  YEAH!

Tina

Which Is A Good Thing, Considering That Our Neighbors To The North In Chino Hills Just Had A 5.4 Earthquake 1 1/2 Hours Ago!

Kooky, Tina and Michael in the Breakfast Line-up!

Well... We all have arrived back from the Comic Con that started Wednesday afternoon July 23rd with a 'Preview Night' in San Diego California!

Kooky 'Kook' The Pig was an early riser with us this past week as we had to have underground parking space at the San Diego Convention Center to stockpile all our goodies from the Con!

We would leave around 5:00 A.M. at the latest each morning as the underground parking structure would fill up by 6:35 A.M. ! Above is Kooky making sure we didn't leave anything at our vehichle including her when we made our way up to ground floor of the Center!

Kooky 'Kook' The Pig would even beat the newscasters arriving there in the morning!  The news trucks would start trickling in, and then the 'live coverage' would start even later...

The photo to the top left is Kooky sitting on the bottom rightg of the truck's bumper. The photo at the top right is Kooky waiting to be interviewed by the 7/39 NBC news team.... However we would be inside the Center before they even started interviewing most mornings!

Kooky Kook The Pig Having Breakfast In Line with Michael and Tina

Kooky 'Kook' The Pig would have breakfast in line with us, as long as we didn't have any sausage or ham on the breakfast menu! We would bring portable stools to sit on, as when the line moves, there is very little warning to grab your stuff from a sitting position on the concrete!

Click Here For Signed Comics and Magazines that the Werewolf Didn't Eat! Click Here for ALL of our CURRENT Listings... We have Thousands MORE to List That We Saved From the Skeleton Guy!

Talking about breakfast menus..... The Werewolf at the top left was really hungry that early in the morning, and poor Kooky 'Kook' The Pig was almost a 'ham' breakfast for the Werewolf!  Good thing the Sun was finally coming up and the Werewolf changed back to human form before gobbling her up!

Another morning the Skeleton guy wanted to pignap her.... we decided not to let Kooky be on his breakfast menu either!  Sorry to say, there are no concession stands open that early in the morning at the Convention Center, so we had to fight off a lot of bad guys from eating Kooky Pig all up each morning!!
