Topic: Comic Book Artists
TODAY'S FEATURE - Blog #3324: I met Ray-Anthony Height for the first time at the 2009 Long Beach Comic Con (LBCC). I noticed that he, like so many other comics artists that set up at table in Artists Alley at the different comic cons, was very busy sketching commissions for paying customers. This I know pays for the cost of the table, the overhead of actually traveling to the comic con, etc., etc. I have mentioned him several more times about his going to be attending different comic cons in this blog and on my Facebook Profile Page and Group Page since then. I liked his sketches he was working on, and of course the banner behind him at the comic cons would grab my attention, (Wonder Woman!). However I finally mentioned to him, that although he was a published artist with Image and Marvel, plus work for Hasbro and Upper Deck, he didn't have any of his works for sale at his table, so that 'newbies' to his works would be able to see them, and possibly buy them... Well, this past LBCC, Ray-Anthony had a 'Sketchbook' titled 'The Grind Mini 2010' - subtitled 'Art of Ray-Anthony Height'! The 1st day of the 2010 LBCC, I saw him with his head down as usual sketching, so I went around the tables and stood behind him, watching him sketch. He finally saw Tina taking photos of me behind him, (see top left photo), and starting cracking a smile! He's a really nice guy! Near the end of last day of the 2010 LBCC, Tina and I went by his table again, and he asked us to stop. He gave me his 'Sketchbook', which I've read and enjoyed. (See top right photo of this blog.) Ray-Anthony started on Facebook with just a Member Profile Page, then started a Fan Page. Near the end of last year he re-started with a new Fan Page, which I suggest you 'Like': Ray-Anthony Height And Icons. As stated above, Ray-Anthony has seen several of his works be published. However, the GCD (Grand Comics Database), has the problem of Ray-Anthony having an 'unusual' spelling of his name. So you'll find his credits under: and Anthony Height. Plus possibly even other variations of the spelling of his name?! Wherever you find his name in comics, you should stop and take a look at his published work. Plus if YOU are at a comic con and see his banner with his name, stop him for a second and say hi! Plus ask about his 'Sketchbook' for sale! If you don't attend the comic cons that Ray-Anthony Height exhibits at on the con circuit, you could always 'Like' his Facebook Fan Page! Ray-Anthony must have seen how search engines and reviewers have different variations of his name listed... So his web site is currently being revamped with the RAHeight.com name. A recent post there states he will no longer being taking commissions online, nor conducting eBay sales of his works, as there isn't enough time to do so. So I want to wish Ray-Anthony continued success in 2011, and I'll see you again at a comic con for sure! ---------------- The above was my 'Spotlight On...
