Gene Autry And The 20th Century West!

The Centennial Exhibition 1907 - 2007

For those of you that are visiting the Los Angeles Metro Area between now and January 13, 2008 one of the best attractions in that area for Western fans would be the Gene Autry National Center.

The Centennial Exhibition will be running thru that date, with certain days closed for the holidays of course.

I have seen that center before and recommend it for Old West fans. You can learn more at the web site autrynationalcenter.org.

As you can tell by the comics we have in the eBay Featured Store, I am a Wild Wild West TV Westerns and Western Comics Fan.  I have blogged about Gene, Gabby Hayes, Roy Rogers, the Lone Ranger and so many more TV and Movie Cowboys here in previous blog posts.

'Our Take' 10-22-07

Sorry, but there was NO 'Our Take' for last week's show, as we were asked to evacuate due to the Southern California Fires!

Additionally, our NBC local station ran nothing but Fires Coverage the next two days, so regular network programming was not shown.

That is, until yesterday, Sunday afternoon the 28th, when Chuck, Heroes, and Journeyman were all run starting in the late afternoon!

The episode of Chuck was fun to watch, and gave us more characterization of Chuck, his sister, and best friend Morgan.

Appears that Chuck and his sister had to look out for each other in the past, as both their dad and mom did not finish raising them.

So they had their own kind of 'Mother's Day' observance. Of course Chuck's new 'spy' role interferred with those plans!

The show is still on a roll... and we are both enjoying it.

Would still recommend it to new watchers, as it does not have so much 'baggage' / continuity built up so far as a lot of other shows currently do!

Our Take On The Show So Far!

Journeyman is a New NBC Show that airs on Monday Nights at 10 PM, After 'Heroes'.

Tina and I already blogged our thoughts about the Pilot Episode ...  click here to see !

There was NO 'Our Take' for last week's show, as we were asked to evacuate due to the Southern California Fires!

Additionally, our NBC local station ran nothing but Fires Coverage the next two days, so regular network programming was not shown.

That is, until yesterday, Sunday afternoon the 28th, when Chuck, Heroes, and Journeyman were all run starting in the late afternoon!

The most exciting developement in this episode is that the 'Journeyman's' young son saw him disappear using 'his magic' as his son called it, when he time travelled.  Now we have both the wife and the son knowing some portion of the Journeyman's disappearing at strange times of the day and night.

It's about time! Especially since earlier in this same episode that Dan Vasser left his son unattended when he time travelled!

Whoooo...?

WEREWOLF BY NIGHT !

WereWolf By Night was one of the HoRRoR / MoNSTer comics that Marvel Comics Started after the Comics Code Authority, (CCA),relaxed its rules on what could be printed in a comic book.

Marvel was already paying licensing fees for other properties, so it looked to characters in the Public Domain to publish in this HoRRoR MoNSTer genre.

Werewolf was one such character, and to copyright it, the 'By Night' was added.

'Werewolf By Night' ran for 43 issues from September 1972 to March of 1977.

One of the best draws this has for comic book collectors is that MIKE PLOOG drew the early issues of the comic!

From the latest San Diego Comic Con (SDCC), I found out why he left the comic.  Appears he was asked to other Marvel Characters into the comic book, one that he didn't want to draw. Thus he left this book!

With only 43 issues printed, this is a good series for HoRRoR / MoNSTer Comic Fans to collect!
