Update On The G.I. Joe Movie!
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: Comic Book Movies

Update on the 2009 GI JOE Film...

From MTV comes the following:

The Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner sat down with MTV officials to talk about the upcoming G.I.Joe movie which is set to premiere in theaters on August 7th, 2009.

The only real new update in the talk was that Goldner claimed that the movie will focus mainly on the original 155 issue Marvel Comic book run of G.I.Joe! So start buying those before the prices go up!

This move would sidestep the 1980's television series all-together.

Goldner went on to add that writer Larry Hama, consultant for the film could also have a cameo in the movie which could please some fanboys of his writing on the Marvel series!

For those fans of the G.I.Joe toys line, there was also info by Goldner that Hasbro would of course be making movie based toys!

However these toys would be of the same scale with the traditional 1980's toy line, that of 3 3/4".

So far the cast for G.I.Joe Film includes Ray Parks (as Snake-Eyes), Sienna Miller (Baroness) and Rachel Nichols (Scarlett).

Also Said Taghmaoui (as Breaker), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Heavy Duty), Arnold Vosloo (Zartan) and Karolína Isela Kurková (Cover Girl)... whew!! That is a large cast!

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post!

She Was The Deadly Black Widow!

The Deadly Black Widow

Was Tallulah Bankhead

 on The Batman TV Show!

Usually 'The Black Widow' is associated with the Marvel Superhero 'Daredevil', but in this case The Black Widow was on a DC Comics TV Show!

This Black Widow was an evil villainess that turned men into 'mush' with a special brain short circuiter that she kept in her purse of all things!

Of course she had an underground spider lair and did her best to catch Batman and Robin in her 'Black Widow's Web'!

Tallulah was born in Huntsville, Alabama, on January 31, 1903. Thus she would have 63 years old during this episode!

A little older than you would have thought for a sexy villainess at the time, but everyone who was someone was jockeying to be a villain(ess) on the Batman TV Show in 1966!

For those interested in Batman comic books, we have several for sale in our eBay Featured Store !

Thanks for reading our pop culture - comics - comic book blog post today!

The 4400 TV Show - USA Network - USA Today

03-10-08 NOTE:  I look at our blog stats each day.... and for weeks now have seen our archived 4400 blog posts being viewed repeatedly. In this past weekend's USA Today there was a question asked in Robert Bianco's column 'News & Views'. It was asked if the write-in campaign to save The 4400 is working... Answer was ... "There's always a chance. Not a good one, but if you send a letter, you're only wagering 41 cents."

For those that haven't see the efforts, look at SaveThe4400.com, and check out the YouTube Video!

For Those that didn't know about the show being cancelled... here's the blog repost:

Season 5 Is Cancelled

We first caught this show at the July 2007 San Diego Comic Con International, (SDCC), as we kept running into programs / panels that Ira Steven Behr was sitting on.

Suffice to say that after seeing and hearing him so many times we decided to give this show a try...

We rented the DVDs to catch up on previous seasons and enjoyed them.

We were waiting for the next season to start, but found out during this vacation week that the show would not be coming back...

It did seem strange when the Season Finale of Season 4 ended.  Everything was wrapping up quickly. It almost seemed like a series finale, but nothing was announced.

There was a lot of closure to sub plots which made seeing the Finale a must watch episode.

However the TV Guide reports that this show and another (that we don't watch) are cancelled.

This is a shame in my opinion, as The 4400 was a very good sci-fi show.

For those of you that have not seen it, give it a try via DVD which is the best way to view this series.

Our thanks to Ira Behr for turning us on to this series. And our thanks to the cast and crew for making this a fun series to watch!

Michael (and Tina)

Belit !

Topic: Comic Book History

Belit

Is Just One Of The Many Characters That

REH (Robert E Howard)

 Brought To Life!

Robert E Howard, (REH), created Belit, Red Sonja, Conan The Barbarian, King Kull, Solomon Kane and others during his short life in Texas!

Marvel Comics included Belit in the Conan The Barbarian Comics in the 1970's culminating in the Death of Belit in Conan's issue #100!

Belit was first published in 1934 when REH had his 'Queen of the Black Coast' story printed in the May 1934 issue of Weird Tales!

Basically, Conan found Belit as follows: In the seacoast kingdom of Argos, after a brush with the Hyborian legal system, Conan hops aboard a southward bound ship. Off the coasts of Kush the ship is boarded by black corsairs under the Shemitish she-devil, Bêlit. Conan joins her crew, becomes her consort, and for a long time they harry the Hyborian and Stygian ports. During this stage of his career, Conan gains the name of Amra, the Lion, which is to follow him throughout his later life!

Check out our newest listings, including the Pocket Books and Red Sonja, Conan the Barbarian Comics and more Sword & Sorcery Comics listings by clicking the top right Belit figure!

Listings start at only 99cents!

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post!
