He Was Baby Huey, The Baby Giant!

They Say The

 'Golden Age'

 Of Comics

 Ended...

... in the mid 1950's!

Well, believe me when I say that today has to be the 'New Golden Age' due to all the choices a comic book reader or collector has today!

I have bemoaned the lack of comics geared to younger kids to be found at bookstores or at the LCBS but every so often another book of collected classics will be printed!

In this case I am referring to the upcoming July 23rd publication of Harvey Classics Library Volume 4 in Trade PaperBack format!

This full color 480 page tpb reprints OOP stories from my 'Golden Age' of Comics.

Even though the sticker price is $19.95, that is in line with other publications of this nature.

The average cost of a new comic book on the stands is $2.99 or more, so this should be a value to introduce your kids to Baby Huey, OR remind you of those days gone by!

Of course our own Cartoon Comics listings can be seen by clicking the top right trade paperback cover!

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post!

Dave Stevens, Creator Of The Rocketeer

And More...

Passed Away Earlier This Week...

(This is a repost from earlier in the week with a new pic.)

Dave Stevens passed away March 10th 2008 from his battle with leukemia.

Dave's works have been mentioned several times in our Blog, as he is widely known for the Rocketeer in comics and film.

Plus he basically brought back Betty (Bettie)Page into pop culture when he started drawing her likeness in his comics!

Dave was only 52 years old at his passing. He was the first receipient of the Russ Manning Artist Award in 1982, and was well known for his 'Good Girl Art'.

His first published work was inking Russ Manning's comic strip 'Tarzan' in 1975.

He went on to work at Hanna-Barbera in 1977 drawing storyboards for TV Shows 'Super-Friends' and 'The Godzilla Power Hour'.

In 1982 he went on to create his most widely known character, which later became a Disney Film Feature.

He will be missed but his works live on...

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post!

So Much Interest In Our Bettie Page Blog Posts...

That I Am Informing Our Blog Readers Of The Upcoming

 Bettie Page 6" Statue

That Will Be Released On July 9th, 2008!

I check our Blog Stats every day, and usually at least one of our archived Blog Posts on either Bettie (Betty) Page, Jenny of the Rocketeer, or Dave Stevens art on Bettie Page is in the Top 10 viewed posts!

Here is a recent example of one of our blog posts:

Anyway, just to let our blog readers know, the earlier 13" Statue of Bettie sold out quickly, and now Dark Horse is informing the public of their 6" Statue coming out on July 9th, 2008.

The statue of course is of Bettie in 'lingerie' in a 'sexy but tasteful' pose, and I am not comfortable running it in our eBay Blog, but our non-eBay Blog readers can see the pic in our other blog in lieu of the pic of Bettie Page herself at the top right...

Of course our own Good Girl / Bad Girl Art Comics listings for sale can be seen by clicking the photo also!

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post!

For our eBay Blog readers: Above is a photo of Bettie Page, who was featured of course in the great film "The Notorious Bettie Page"!

For our non-eBay Blog readers: The above is a pic of the 6" tall statue (7" with base) that has a MSRP of $59.99!

For our current Good Girl Art listings, just click on the photo above.

So How Many Issues Were In Her Series??
Mood:  quizzical

So,

How Many Issues Were In Her Series??

Speaking Of

"Elvira, Mistress Of The Dark"

Comic Book Series From Claypool Comics!

That question posed to us was easy to answer!

The Final Issue in the series was #166 as the cover blurb stated!

The series had a long run... especially from an independent comic book publisher that basically only had 4 comic book titles in its' line!

Elvira, Mistress of the Dark was published from May 1993 to February 2007!

Reading those back issues will probably be the only time we will "see" her until the next San Diego Comic Con International in July that she usually attends!

For those of you that can't make it to comic cons... We have an ongoing comic book convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and new listings of items for sale! Just click on the pic at the top right to see our Elvira listings!

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post !

Michael .

Above is the FINAL ISSUE of Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, the topic of this blog post!

For all of our current Elvira Comics / Magazine listings, just click on the  Photo Cover of the Comic Book above!

If you don't see what you are looking for, feel free to email us a 'want list' and if in stock, we'll place it in our eBay Featured Store just for you!

We also currently have several third party CGC Graded Comics available for sale... just click the above pic to see the items for sale!
