She Was A Jungle Queen Too?

Funny thing is... who wasn't a 'Jungle Queen' at one time or the other in comics??

I've blogged about Shana the She-Devil, Sheena, Bettie Page, Lorna The Jungle Queen, and so many other 'Jungle Queens' that it seems to be a run-on blog post!

Well... we need to add Lois Lane to the list, as evidenced by the above top right comic book cover, LOL!!

For those of you new to us, we have an ongoing pop culture - comics convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post and please visit our blog again!

The Final 5 Show!
04-29-08 Our Take
Song Theme For The Night Was:
 "Music Of Neil Diamond"!

Last Night it was the 'Final 5' who performed on the New Stage in a 1 Hour show! As usual there will be only 2 Nights of American Idol this week... with Tuesday Night the Performance Night, and then Results Night Show on Wednesday!
Here are our AVERAGED 'scores' of BOTH songs performed by each 'idol', (based on 1-10, 10 being highest), with the 4th column showing the difference between Michael's score and Tina's score. The 'contestants' are listed in order of performance appearance during the night, NOT by numerical score:
The 'Final 5'

(No #)

Name of Contestant / Songs PerfomedMichael's Take

Average Score Difference

Tina's Take

1

Jason Castro / Forever In Blue Jeans / Sept.

6.75 1st song better.. 2nd shows why he needs to go home!

   0.25

6.5 Should be the one to go home...

2

David Cook / I'm Alive / All I Need Is you.

7.0 - Just average tonight for me...   1.375

8.375 - Best of the night. Voted for him!

3

Brooke White / I'm A Believer / I Am I said... (AND pictured top right photo)

8.0 Came through this week for me! Voted for her!   1.0

8.0  Average on first song... Best performance on 2nd song.

4

David Archuletta / Sweet Caroline / America

6.0 His style just isn't for me.   1.5

7.5 Was expecting more on 'America'.

5

Syesha Mercado / Hello Again / The The Lord...

7.5 My second highest scored performer of the night.

   0.5

8.0 Was expecting more...

General Show Notes:
Neil Diamond was the 'mentor' this week. Probably because he has his 26th studio album being released early in May 2008...  Michael thought the whole show was toooo rushed - too quick on the 'mentoring scenes' - too 'jumpy' between acts, etc.  Too much crammed into too little time and then changing the announced judging sequence!
Now for the comments on the performances from Tina and Michael!
Tina's comments:  Tina had it with Brooke last week, but thought her second song was the best performance of the night! However Brooke tied with Syesha on performance average points, so Tina only voted for David Cook. Jason should be the one to go home...
Michael's comments:  Michael thought the whole show was 'choppy', as mentioned in the general notes.  This show was definitely 'off' in execution of timing.  Regarding the slip up on Paula's part on judging the first round of perfomances... well, you had to be there to understand. And even if you there you probably didn't get it either! If you weren't there or still don't understand what happened via watching 'live' on TV...  check out the videos on the web as to what/how she said what she said!  Oh, and BTW, Brooke's 2nd song brought tears to Michael's eyes...
What we normally do this far into the process is to vote for the highest one or two contestants per the score we gave them.
Michael voted for Brooke White (8.0) pictured above, while Tina voted for David Cook (8.375). As you can tell the night was rather mediocre for a 'Final 5' Show...
Michael thinks that Jason should go home based on his performances last night and for the YTD performances, while Tina thinks that Jason should also go home based on the YTD (year to date) performances when choosing from the Final 5!

And Let's Don't Forget Pepper Potts!

And Let's Don't Forget

 Pepper Potts!

And who's Pepper Potts you ask???

Well... Marvel Entertainment cast Gywenth Paltrow to play Virginia "Pepper" Potts, who is the personal assistant to Tony Stark, the millionaire playboy!

And Tony Stark's alter ego is Iron Man of the same named film that is being released this Friday May 2nd 2008!

Pepper Potts was first introduced in the comic book, Tales of Suspense #45 in September of 1963 !  See the top right for the comic book cover.

Iron Man had started in Tales of Suspense #39 so Pepper was an early character in the Iron Man Comic Book History!

There were some changes made to Pepper Potts' appearance in the film, as it is a well known movie star that is portraying her in the film!

Gywneth also starred in 'Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow', which I really enjoyed, with Jude Law and Angelina Jolie!

So now you'll have a little background of who Pepper Potts is when you see the film in the upcoming weeks, LOL!

For those of you new to us, we also have an ongoing pop culture - comics convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Golden Records With And Without Comics!

Golden Records With And Without Comics!

We received the following email question earlier today:

Dear make_it_so_marketing,

I received a Golden Records "Marvel Age Comic Spectacular" "Journey into Mystery" Thor album. The cover is only fair with one ripped edge and the album plays great but does have some fine scraches. I do not have the comic! Does this album have any value by itself? Thanks....

Well, my answer to this eBayer was:

Thanks for emailing us! I have seen both the album/record and the comic book selling individually by themselves at conventions. There are collectors that were not able to get the album when they purchased the comic book and vice versa.

So you have a probable market in reaching those collectors. Especially since the advent of CGC and PGX where they encapsulate the comics but don't do so with the records. The encapsulated comics go for about $250 in 9.4 NM grade.

Whereas if you are selling the record/cover alone, you probably should put a reserve on the auction to get what you need out of it!

If you have a question feel free to email us!

Iron Man Opens The NYSE This Morning!

Iron Man Opens The NYSE This Morning!

In one of yesterday's blog posts I stated that the upcoming Iron Man Theatrical Film is making all the News!

Well it appears that it is even making the Financial News this morning!

Tony Stark, billionaire industrialist (aka Iron Man) rang the opening bell this morning for the New York Stock Exchange, (NYSE)!

Well.... actually  it was Robert Downey Jr in front of an Iron Man Film Poster doing the ringing, but it sure seemed that Tony Stark was there for real in addition to promoting his movie coming out on this Friday!  LOL!
