... On Why A Certain Archived Blog Post Gets Viewed As Much As It Does...

This Morning's Most Viewed Archived Blog Post is our entry from June 2nd 2007. A Full 25% of our most recent blog readers have viewed this archived post which is reposted as follows:

Actress Carolyn Jones and...

No, Not Batman This Time !

Instead... As Mother To Wonder Woman!

That's Right!!!!!

I previously posted that even though I personally enjoyed her role with Elvis Presley in the movie 'King Creole', and that most of America remembers her as Morticia Adams in the TV series 'The Addams Family', she was also a star villain in the 1966 Batman TV Series !!

Carolyn played the villain 'Marsha Queen of Diamonds' in episodes #57 & 58 first shown 11-23-66 & 11-24-66.

Afterwards she married Herbert S. Green in 1968, a voice specialist for actors.  While  she was still doing TV work, Carolyn would be cast in Tobe Hooper’s 'Eaten Alive' in 1977. This was a  horror film that also featured the future Freddy Krueger, Robert Englund.

However more important for comic book fans, she was seen in some of the Wonder Woman TV Show episodes, as 'Queen Hippolyta of the Amazons', mother of Wonder Woman  (Lynda Carter) seen to the right.

Carolyn went on to do an Addams Family reunion TV movie, and some other roles.  She unfortunately passed away at the young age of 53 due to her ongoing battle with colon cancer in 1983.  She was a good actress and I enjoyed the movies and TV shows that she starred in....

For those interested in DC comic books, we have a slugfest full  in our eBay Featured Store and eBay Pro Store. If you are interested in Wonder Woman comics, just click on the photo of Wonder Woman to the right l

Thanks for reading this pop culture - comics - comib book blog post!

Scott Bakula At Old Globe!
Mood:  caffeinated
Topic: TV Shows

Scott Bakula

At The Old Globe Theatre!

Long time readers of this blog will know that I am a Scott Bakula fan!

For those that don't know, Scott was the star of Quantum Leap and Star Trek: Enterprise TV Shows.

He has also done other venues of entertainment, and with the WGA strike that was recently settled, it appears that he elected to go back to the Stage for a while...

We are fortunate in the San Diego area to have him appearing in 'Dancing In The Dark', which is based on one of the greatest MGM Movie Musicals of All Time, 'The Band Wagon'!

The book was by Douglas Carter Beane.

The Muscial started at the Old Globe Theater March 4th, and ends on April 13th. Plenty of time for you Bakula fans to make arrangements to see him in person.

For those of you that didn't know he could sing... Check out the QL episode where he played Don Quixote. That is one of my favorite episodes!

There was also a comic book series on Quantum Leap that ran for 13 issues, plus one special reprint, and an annual. The comic book started in September 1991 and ended August 1993.

I really miss the Quantum Leap Conventions that were held in conjunction with the TV Show. They were jam packed with actors and actresses that had guest starred on the TV show and it was great meeting them and the two featured stars at the con each year!!

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post!

Listing And Thinking...
Mood:  caffeinated
Topic: Comic Book Movies

I have been listing more Fantastic Four comics today... While doing so, I was thinking of the years it took to bring a FF movie to the Big Screen.

This blog post is a 'repost' of a popular archived blog post for those of you who haved missed it! It has not been updated:

You May Be Thinking... What Do You Mean That I Haven't Seen the First Fantastic Four Movie ???

The first live action Fantastic Four Movie was never shown in theaters after it was produced in 1994 by Roger Corman.

Roger quickly finished the film as his rights to the FF were running out...

I met three of the four actors who portrayed the FF at the 1994 San Diego Comic Con. They were sincere in their portrayals of the FF and I really enjoyed meeting them and having my pic taken with them!

However, the movie wasn't to be released, and upon purchasing a bootleg video at a later comic con, I realized why....  It was really bad,  terrible actually what had happened to my favorite comic book superheroes.

It wasn't until ten years later at the SDCC in 2004 that I saw the new actors who had just been signed to play in the new film have a program at the SDCC, and they were introduced to the con goers.

I thought the choice for Mr Fantastic, and the Thing were great. I thought the choice for the Invisible Woman was all wrong... she was too sexy to portray Sue Storm.  And I couldn't figure out the actor that would portray the Torch.

The capper to the program was the choice of director.... and what he had directed before...  oh no I thought, not another upcoming clunker movie of my FF !!!

Well I was wrong... the 2005 movie was a lot better than I expected, better than I hoped it could be.... and I came away a lot happier!!!

I looked forward to the second installment, 'The Rise of the Silver Surfer' for the Summer of 2007!

But I still thought Jessica Alba was too young and sexy for the Invisible Woman role !!

For those interested in Fantastic Four comics on which the movies are based on, we have several listed in our eBay Featured Store.

Make Mine Marvel !

American Idol 03-05-08 Our Take!

American Idol TV Show
Season 7  Week 3
Night 2 - The 'Girls'
03-04-08 Our Take
Theme Was "The Eighties"!

Last Night it was the 'girls' who performed... The Top 8 of them in a 60 minute show. These 8 gals are chasing 6 spots in the Top 12! Here are our 'scores', (based on 1-10, 10 being highest), on each performance with the 4th column showing the difference between my score and Tina's score. The 'girls' are listed in order of performance during the night, NOT by numerical score:
The 'Girls'

(No #)

Name of ContestantMichael's TakeScore DifferenceTina's Take
1Asia'h Epperson   6.0   0.06.0
2

Kady Malloy

   6.0   0.56.5
3

Amanda Overmyer (pictured above)

   8.0   0.08.0
4Carly Smithson   8.0   1.09.0
5Kristy Lee Cook   6.0   1.57.5
6Ramiele Malubay   6.0   2.08.0
7Brooke White    7.0  1.58.5
8Sayesha Mercado    8.0 0.58.5

FYI, for those that followed our American Idol Blog Posts last season and so far this season... you'll know that Tina and I usually don't agree on the contestants' performances, (until the final weeks).

Tina's Take on the night:  "Asia'h Epperson goes home, and so does Kady Malloy".  (Those two were her lowest scoring contestants.) Also, #5 Kristy Lee Cook "should have really gone Country not just a twinge. Otherwise it's just a girl doing a country song...

Michael's Take on the night: Simon was right on the first two contestants while Randy and Paula were off IMHO. Have disagreed with almost all of Paula's judgings while almost in total agreement with Simon's points this week...

What we do this early in the process is to vote for the highest one or two contestants per the score we gave them.  Michael voted for Amanda Overmyer and Carly Smithson who both scored 8.0, while Tina voted for Carly Smithson and Brooke White!  Tonight Tina voted for her top performances instead of voting for favorites. Michael voted for best performances also.

When the Top 24 starts getting down to the Top 12, then we'll start adding more than just a 'numerical' score. Due to space limitations on the eBay Blog format that we first post in,  we only have so much room to blog...

Well... that's it for 'The Girls'... Tonight are 'The Results'.  Be back later this week when we blog about 'Our Take' on American Idol's Results for Week 3!   FYI, we are on the West Coast by Legoland so there is a time zone difference in our viewing and blogging between our East Coast readers! Plus Thursday night there are too many TV Shows we watch that are shown at the same time! Something has to be taped to watch later!!!

For those that missed our previous blog posts on this TV Show.... Please see the following link for our previous blog post. We have been blogging about Season 7 since the first week:

Wonder Woman

That Is!

Just listed some more Wonder Woman Comics...

... and realized I hadn't run the photo to the top left in our blog before!

This 'Wonder Woman' was at the 2006 SDCC - San Diego Comic Con International!

It really does seem like you can't go to a convention without seeing the most popular female star of the DC Universe!

Wonder Woman that is!

She is usually one of the contestants at a masquerade show... as well as at least one costumed character on the convention floor.

We'll be sure to post more pics this upcoming convention season which starts March 14th at WizardWorld LA!

And yes, we do have Wonder Woman and other DC superhero comics listed for sale! Just click the Wonder Woman photo to view those listings!

Thanks for reading our pop culture - comics - comic book blog post!
