Michael R Hudson... President of ReelArt Studios / Sequential Pulp Comics LLC, tells me that they "will be previewing for the first time the brand new, and currently in manufacturing, Doc Savage statue as sculpted by Tony Cipriano and based on Bob Larkin art" at this NYCC.
Michael also informed me that they "will be taking pre orders on our site shortly and expect to have this shipping sometime in June".
Additionally, for pulp fans of The Shadow, Michael also stated that he was told by his sculptor, Tony, (who will also be at the show), "that he is giving it his all to have The Shadow (also) available for viewing as well. This will be an unpainted version if he is able to manage the deadline".
Michael is also "pretty sure there will be a photo op with both Bob Larkin and Tony Cipriano at the booth sometime during the show". Please check Michael's booth at the Con for that probable photo-op schedule!
You can preview the Doc Savage Statue at Booth #828, which will be located on the far left wall beside Eric Powell, with the Dark Horse free standing booth directly across from ReelArt Studios / Sequential Pulp Comics booth.
For those interested in The Doc Savage Statute; the edition size is 1000 units worldwide. The price will be $249.00 Shipping is an additional $35.00. The statue stands 19 3/4 " tall as a prototype, (possibly subject to change to 19" approx in production mold).
My understanding is that ReelArt Studios doesn't accept credit cards at shows. Their direct to customer market online is via Paypal, which means they will only be accepting cash and checks at the booth for any sales at this NYCC.
The reason I was interested in this Doc Savage Statue is the fact that Doc Savage celebrated his 75th Anniversary last year, which I blogged about a special program that was to be held at the 2008 SDCC. (Click here for that blog post.)
Talking about programs... For those attending the NYCC 2009 and interested in panels, Michael R Hudson also told me that "Doc Savage scholar and author Will Murray and Doc Savage scholar and publisher of the new double Doc and Shadow volumes, Anthony Tollin will both be at the convention. There will be a pulp panel this year and they are both on it. I am sure they will both visit our both for photo ops".
Additionally when I asked Michael about any 'Show Specials' at this NYCC 2009, he told me the following: "For specials we are offering Wm. Stout's DinoGirl statue @ $25.00 per unit. The signed Neal Adams Going Ape statue will go for $50.00. Wm. Paquet's The Monster and The Bride busts will be offered at $30.00 per unit or as a set at $50.00. Quantities are limited on both and the deal is until we run out".
For those of you that are attending this upcoming comic con, be sure to check Michael's booth #828 out for all of the goodies mentioned above! While you are there ask him about a future production of the "Special order and limited to 30 units worldwide true bronze Doc. This will sit atop a wood and marble base with a brass nameplate attached." (As this blog is published, the price as yet was to be determined for this future production.) Michael's ReelArt Studios web site for additional info is: www.reelartstudios.com
