TODAY'S FEATURE - Blog #3141:

With the success of the Iron Man 2 Film still going strong, I wanted to 'Spotlight' another actress who was in this film...

That would be Natalina Maggio as pictured above!

Tina and I met her during the Wizard World Anaheim Comic Con back on April 18th.

Natalina saw my shirt's embroidered 'Comic Book Collectors Blog.com' title and mentioned that she would be appearing in the then upcoming Iron Man 2 Film!  That's the reason for the Iron Man Bobblehead figure at her booth!

However, Natalina is already an accomplished actress, before her role in this Iron Man 2 Film came out on May 7th!

Indeed, she was on another show, 'Heroes', that Tina and I also watch.  She was a cheerleader on two episodes in 2009, as seen to the left.  The episodes' titles were: Chapter One's: 'Orientation' and 'Jump, Push, Fall'.

Here's just a few excerpts of her other accomplishments so far, as seen at Talent LA Casting, as her career just started in 2004:

How Natalina's career started out: "A natural entertainer, she made her television debut in 2004 when she lent her distinctive, childlike voice to two episodes of the hit Japanese cartoon series Gunparade March. That breakthrough role paved the way for a number of other exciting opportunities, and Natalina Maggio was soon invited to provide voice-over narration for programs on the Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon".

"Natalina Maggio finally stepped in front of the camera the following year in 2005 when she found work as a featured background performer in a number of hit shows including The O.C., One on One, Las Vegas, Criminal Minds, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, What I Like About You, Living with Fran, and Hot Properties."

"Natalina Maggio made her big-screen debut in 2008 in Tic, a pulse-pounding action film about a pair of small-time London criminals who travel to Los Angeles. The movie -- which starred bankable British actors Lennie James and Treva Etienne -- gave Natalina Maggio one of her most substantial roles to date."

"Finally Natalina Maggio screen tested for Iron Man 2 this year and was chosen to be one of the featured models at Tony Stark's birthday party."

All this so far and she is only 28 years old!

TODAY'S FEATURE - Blog #3140:

Today I'm pleased to have as guest blogger, my wife, Tina LoSasso, who mixes in a little bit of a comic convention we were at in April with the latest episode of 'LOST':

LOST: “What They Died For” or what I call it, Ben: Back with a Vengeance!

[SPOILER ALERT: If you’re not caught up through “What They Died For” what in the world are you waiting for? The show’s over on Sunday. Stop reading this, go watch, then come back!]

Wow, did 'Darlton' ever win me back after last week’s indulgent and mythology-fest that was ‘Across the Sea’!

How? With the emotional storyline – and the righteous return of the villain we LOVE to hate: Benjamin Linus! 

(For the uninitiated think: Simon Cowell on American Idol. Like Simon, Ben has the best lines. Just as the AI crowd waits to hear what Simons says, LOSTIES can’t wait to see what Ben will say and do- read who he’ll kill next.)

Until now Ben’s been weak and ineffectual all season – begging for forgiveness, lost and aimless.  Yes, he’s been getting beat up pretty regularly – and who doesn’t enjoy a good Ben face-smashing– but please, it’s like his core has been hollowed out. No Ben bark, no bite, and no evil intrigues has made for some pretty boring episodes. Weak and fearful is NOT the evil Ben we love to hate.

So, I shouted with glee (which we taped – wouldn’t Michael Emerson be dynamite as the new school principal or rival choir director?) as Ben finally exacted his revenge for Alex’s death by shooting Charles Whitmore. “He doesn’t get to save his daughter.” Most chilling Ben line ever.

I got a big kick out the writers bow to LOSTIES who want answers. While Ben following notLocke through the jungle, Ben asks one of fandoms more wacky questions: if you can turn yourself into Smoke whenever you want, why do you walk around? (Answer: I like to feel connected to the ground; it reminds me of when I had a body.)

Long before he was evil-Ben, Benjamin Linus was just a gawky young kid with a psychologically abusive Dad who drank too much Dharma beer. Playing that young boy was the wonderful Sterling Beaumon.

Michael and I had the pleasure of meeting Sterling and his Mom at Anaheim Comic Con in April. What a delightful and gracious young man!  He seemed to really enjoy his time on LOST and take the intensity of the fan base in stride.

Sterling will be watching Sunday night just like the rest of us wondering how it will all end.  And, end it will. After ‘What They Died For’ I feel a little less anxious about whether I’ll like the ending. It’s an emotional show. That’s what pulled us in at the beginning – all those flashbacks got us invested in the characters. The producers – and some of the cast – have said that the finale will give us an emotionally satisfying ending.

What more can we ask for?  How about something to fill the void? LOST has already left its mark on television inspiring new shows with complex storylines, ensemble casts and even time travel – think: Heroes and Flash Forward. Why, even the creator of Desperate Housewives successfully rebooted the show by fast forwarding it several years. What we’ll look for is what we’ve loved about LOST: intelligent writing that surprises and intrigues us, complex characters we care about, well-placed humor, and beautiful, dramatic visuals.

LOST – we’ll be as sad as Hurley at the bottom of a jar of peanut butter without you!

TODAY'S FEATURE - Blog #3139:

Yes, this was another publication given to me at the recent 2010 Wizard World Anaheim Comic Con in Artists Alley for possible review in this blog!

Actually, it's a 'colorized' version of a publication that I already blogged about as a 'Featurette' back on January 2nd of 2010. Click here for that column seen at the bottom right of that blog post.

So what's this comic book about? Well...I'd like to copy and paste some background material here, but nowhere on any of the pages on the multiple websites do I see any promo copy on this series!  Seriously!  And yes, I do realize that one of their websites is 'Under Construction', but still...This project has been online since at least mid 2009, so there should be some promo copy out there for this!

And in the 'Featurette' section of the earlier blog mentioned above, I did mention a little on what the comic was about...

So what's 'My Take' on this new colorized version of the previously published B&W comic book?

Front Cover:  The front cover shows a good crowd scene with enough poses to interest a casual browser at a LCBS.

Inside Front Cover:  I noticed at the bottom of the page is where the 'true' title of this publication is: 'Pink Power: Magic Panties #1, which is NOT what it shows on the front cover. Done on purpose?  After all it is kind of a 'reprint' with colorization and a some new text, as far as I could tell.

Splash Page: Not used as a 'splash page'. Starts right in with the storyline.

The Rest of the Pages: You know...for this comic book version, the color that has been added has made this a NEW story even though I had read it before!  And NO, I'm NOT a 'color' snob, but this colorization was done right! Kudos to the colorist, Chris Hall!

Plus, for an origin story, this is a pretty good set up.  And of course...It's "to be continued"! 

I did look online and saw the first page of issue #2, but not much else has been previewed yet...
