Audi Commercial

During last night's Lost TV Show... Audi showed a commercial of their car with Tony Stark, who is a.k.a. Iron Man in the upcoming Marvel Film May 2nd!

Talk about cross promotions!

A hot show like 'Lost' with lots of viewership is a great place to show the Audi/Iron Man promotion!

When you get a chance, go to audi.com/ironman to see all the great graphics of the car Tony Stark drives in the Film!

For those of you that enjoy Iron Man and can't wait for the film to appear... just click the top right car photo to see all of our current Iron Man listings!

Blazing Western Action!

Blazing Western Action With...

The Rawhide Kid!

In earlier blog posts I have stated that I had grown up in the late 1950's to early 1960's, where westerns on TV and in comics were part of my everyday life.

I also mentioned that I enjoyed reading 'The Big Three Westerns' that Marvel Comics printed. One of those Big Three was The Rawhide Kid!

He first debuted in a 16-issue series, (March 1955-Sept. 1957), from the 1950s Publisher, Atlas Comics, (the predecessor of today's Marvel Comics). (See comic book example to the middle right.)

Most of this series' covers were by highly acclaimed artists of the time, usually either Joe Maneely or John Severin, but at times they had Russ Heath and Fred Kida doing the cover honors. Interior art for the first five issues was by Bob Brown, with Dick Ayers taking over on the remainder of the series.

After a short hiatus, the Rawhide Kid was revamped  by writer Stan Lee and penciler Jack Kirby and inker Ayers. The publisher continued the Atlas numbering with issue #17 (Aug. 1960), as at the time there was no 'imprint' identifying the publisher.

'Marvel' comics had not come into existence as of yet, and the publisher was limited to the total number of books that he could print each month by his distributor. (See comic book sample to the top right for a middle 'Key' issue of the second incarnation.)

The title was among the more popular of the western comic books that Marvel Comics printed during the early 1960's as westerns were still a popular mainstream genre in books, tv and comics.

The 'Big Three Western Comics' for Marvel at the time were Rawhide Kid, Kid Colt, and the Two-Gun Kid. At times Marvel had two or three of the Kids meet up in each others' books.... those were great cross-overs!!

However, as superheroes become increasingly ascendant in comics and sales of all companies' Western titles dropped, the Rawhide Kid comic book became primarily a reprint title.  The only thing new would be covers by such recognized artists as Gene Colan, Gil Kane and Paul Gulacy. The series ended publication with issue #151 (May 1979).

The Rawhide Kid would later appear as a more middle-aged character in a four-issue limited comic book series, (Aug.-Nov. 1985), by writer Bill Mantlo with penciler Herb Trimpe.

So Who's HOT Today In Our Archived Blog Posts 03-20-08?
Mood:  quizzical
Topic: TV Shows

So Who's

'Hot'

In Our Archived Blog Posts Today???

None Other Than...

Laura Vandervoort!

Regular Readers of our Blog know that I check our Blog Stats daily and sometimes find out that something has happened because of all the views of the archived blog posts about that person or character!

However this one is stumping me!

Our archived blog post on Laura Vandervoort is reaching 19% of our blog viewership today... but I can't find out what bloggers are looking for about her that is new in the last few days!!!

Maybe the latest 'Smallville' TV Show episodes have in her some kind of trouble... but as Tina and I don't watch that show, I wouldn't know!

Well... I'll keep looking, maybe she is going to appear at some comic or pop culture conventions and bloggers are looking to see when and where??!!

We have an ongoing pop culture - comics convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

If you don't see what you are looking for, feel free to email us a 'want list' and if in stock, we'll place it in our eBay Featured Store just for you!

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post!
